5 Time Management Tools For Android

Steve Jobs famously said that time is “the most precious resource we all have.” However, it’s also a finite resource, and we cannot really manage time itself – only the ways in which we use it. There are dozens of apps made for this purpose, and they help us plan activities, remind us of important events and visualize our progress over a certain period. It’s already February (time flies so fast!) but it’s not too late to kickstart a productive and focused new year with these five Android apps.

1. Calendar: Digical

Digical is a calendar that might surprise you with the amount of options it offers. You can preview your schedule in six view types (day, week, week agenda, month, text month, agenda). Double-tapping on a day in Month view opens the Day view with a list of all tasks on the left. This looks especially good on tablets. It’s possible to manage multiple calendars, filter displayed events, and sync them with Google Calendar, chúng tôi and Exchange.

New events are easily added: just long-press on a selected day or tap the toolbar button. You can color-code events individually or based on the calendar they belong to. Event notifications integrate with Google Now, and there are also home screen and lock screen widgets to always keep you in the loop. You can even show weather information right in the calendar. The “Preferences” dialog lets you tweak all the details – from time format, first day of the week and default event duration to font sizes and layout appearance.

2. Billing: Timesheet

A potential life-saver for freelancers, Timesheet is based on a simple principle: you use it to track time spent on tasks or projects and bill clients accordingly. The main screen is an overview of all active projects, and here you can create new ones. Timesheet makes it easy to define expenses, set salary per hour, add notes and tags to each project. You can set up automatic breaks to remind yourself to get up from the desk.

Other interesting and useful features include detailed statistics of your work, ability to export tasks to Microsoft Excel-readable formats (CSV, XLS), and back up your projects to Dropbox.

3. Alarm: Morning Routine

If you’re a fan of Google’s Material Design, this beauty is a perfect alarm for you. Apart from basic alarm features like custom ringtones, custom snooze length, recurring alarms and sound fade-in, Morning Routine has a challenging (and a bit cruel) side. If you have trouble getting out of bed, there are two special alarm modes that can help you.

A Regular alarm is simple – you turn it off or press snooze indefinitely. However, a Scanning alarm will require you to scan a barcode on something in your house before you can turn it off. The Sequence alarm takes this a step further and makes it possible to set several alarms in a row, each with its own requirement, trigger an automated task (for example, opening email). There are also statistics about your responsiveness to alarms. With all this packed in a visually attractive interface, Morning Routine is an app that can make you look forward to the next day.

4. Task Planner: MyEffectiveness

MyEffectiveness is an app that combines features from Chrome productivity apps that we covered recently. You can use it as a digital assistant to your favorite productivity method, be it GTD (Getting Things Done), Pomodoro or the Eisenhower matrix. It can help you plan long-term goals, where you’ll think in broader terms, describing your Mission, Concerns and Life Roles, as well as setting Priorities.

If all this sounds too complex, don’t worry – you can just use it to plan weekly tasks and activities, or to manage your current projects in neat and colorful task lists. You can add notes and reminders to each activity and display upcoming events in a widget on your home screen. Precisely because it offers so many different approaches at once, MyEffectiveness leaves more freedom to users to choose exactly how they want to use it.

5. Tracking Progress: Raise the Bar

As a concept, time is invisible; we only see its effects. Raise the Bar is an app that visualizes the passing of time in the context of our progress. In other words, it lets you create progress bars for tasks and activities in your life, and then track how successfully you complete them. It’s a fun idea (although not particularly original), and the app looks appealing.

There are three types of progress bars: Level Up, Goal, and List. Raise the Bar favors a linear, straightforward approach where you’re quickly taken from one step to the other. You pick a name and type for your activity, set the desired amount of actions or sub-tasks, and an optional deadline. Then you can choose colors to customize activities, and start working on them. You can either manually increase your “level” and mark completed tasks on a list, or set a timer to track activities automatically (somewhat like a stopwatch). Activities can be tagged and all your data exported to CSV. Like other apps in this article, Raise the Bar has reminders and statistics to ensure you’ll stay on the right track.

5 Keyword Research Tools To Use

If you want good results in terms of SEO, you will need to invest in a keyword research tool.

Yes, you can sort keywords in Google’s keyword planning tool one by one. You can also manually assess the competition on the first page for your target keywords.

However, the RIGHT tool makes the process MUCH faster, easier, and more efficient.

Since keyword research tools operate at the speed of light, you will usually get handfuls of untapped and low-competition keywords in minutes.

But which keyword research tool is best for you and your business?

In this guide, I tested 5 of the best tools. I will show you an overview of how they work, key functions, and a list of pros and cons.

SEMrush works somewhat differently from the other keyword research tools I have shown you so far.

Instead of entering an initial keyword and getting a long list of keyword ideas, SEMrush shows you the keywords that your competition is already positioning itself for.

These are often more “imaginative” keywords that would be impossible to find without this tool.

Here’s how it works:

Enter the domain name of one of your competitors in the field at the top of the page.

If you do SEO in a country, you can select this specific market by choosing the country.

SEMRush Rank is the rank that the domain ranks in its domain database (like Alexa, the lower the number, the better). The SEMrush rank is based on the total organic traffic and the value of this traffic.

Traffic is the estimated number of monthly (organic) visitors from Google.

Cost of Traffic indicates the value of this traffic (based on Adwords CPC).

So if you see a domain with high traffic but a relatively low traffic price, you know you are targeting keywords that do not convert very well.

SEMrush is particularly good at associating thematically related keywords.

“Rapid weight loss”, “lose 5 pounds in a week”, “weight loss food”, “free slimming program”, etc.

SEMRUSH is indeed able to deduce that these keywords are thematically speaking related to the initial keyword “diet”. These are often perfect keywords to target since they are not keywords suggested to everyone (including your competition) by Google’s keyword planning tool …

In summary

If you are looking for a complete list of keywords to use as a basis for your SEO campaigns, SEMRush is a must-have tool.

2. SECockpit

The first keyword research tool I will tell you about is SECockpit

Like any other keyword research tool, you provide an initial keyword and get a list of results. But what makes SECockpit unique is its built-in feature set allowing you to get an incredible amount of information on search trends, competition, and traffic estimates.

Here is how the tool works:

When you log in, you will be automatically directed to your dashboard, where you can create projects around a set of keywords … or go there directly with a single keyword search.

You can also get a comparison of the estimated traffic that you would get for a position in the top 3 for this keyword compared to the level of competition for this keyword.

In summary

The first thing you will notice about SECockpit is that it is a tool designed for SEO professionals.

Yes, newbies can gain some form of benefit, but it is clear that SECockpit targets people who eat and breathe SEO.

3. Moz Analytics Keyword Analysis Tool

This tool does not have as many features as some other keyword research tools on the market. However, it is part of a large suite of tools found in Moz Analytics.

And it’s very straightforward and easy to use.

The tool will display the overall difficulty of the keyword (displayed as a%) and the exact search volume associated with it, coming from Bing:

The higher the difficulty in% of the keyword, the more difficult will be the ranking.

You get an overview of the top 10 results against the authority of their page and the authority of their domain on Google.

In summary

As you can see, Moz’s keyword competition tool is easy to use. And its “Keyword Difficulty” score makes it easier to determine the difficulty of a keyword.

However, this tool does not generally help generate new keyword ideas. It is only useful for gauging the top 10 results for a list of keywords for which you want to be ranked.

4. Long Tail Pro

Then we have Long Tail Pro, a user-friendly (and high quality) keyword research tool

First, launch the software

and enter one or more initial keywords in the tool:

Finally, you can configure certain filters to ensure that keywords with low search volumes are excluded from the results.

Long Tail Pro shows you, among other things, the authority of the page and the domain authority of the top 10 sites. The tool also shows you the number of incoming links, PageRank, and the age of the site (an important factor ignored by several tools). All the metrics present in this table are included in this famous calculation of the level of competition.

Here’s how it works:

Simply open the tool (it is browser-based) and you will be able to choose the sources from which Keyword Snatcher gets its keyword suggestions.

In summary

When it comes to generating massive lists of keyword ideas, you will be hard-pressed to find a more robust tool than Keyword Snatcher.
