Sometimes Windows automatically changes the creation date of specific files. Although this is not a huge issue, it can be problematic if you store or sort files based on their creation date. So the question is, how to avoid Date Created date changes for files in Windows? Well, here are a few suggestions that will help you out.
Note: Created on Date or Date Created are the same thing. You can view this in the Details tab of the file’s Properties. What is changing the Date Created property of the files
First, you need to check if the software you are using to edit the file is not changing the Created on Date of the file. To check this, you can open the file with another application and see if the date changes.
In most cases, the software will only create a new file after you make changes to it. This way, the software prevents the original file from being corrupted if the app crashes or if something goes wrong while saving the updated file. The software then deletes the original file after the save process is complete. This way, the software creates a new copy of the same file. Hence, it will have a new creation date.
If you want to keep the original date, open and save a file with different software to check this. And use the application that does not change the creation date. An alternate way is to use applications that can help you fix this problem. How to change Date Created for files in Windows 11/10
You can use these tools to change the Created On Date for files in Windows to restore.
Bulk File Changer
These tools do not restrict any software to change the date, but they come in handy if anything else has, and you want to revert it.2] Change the created date using Bulk File Changer
If the Date Created Date changes and you need to revert to the original, then you need to rely on third-party tools. Since Windows does not allow you to change the file creation date, a third-party application is the only way out.
One such tool is the bulk file changer. It is a utility tool that lets you create a file list from multiple folders and then modify their date, time, and other attributes. Also, the tool is free to download and use.
To get started with this, follow the below steps:
First, download the Bulk File Changer tool from its website.
Next, unzip the file and launch the application.
Select the created row and enter your preferred date.
Download it from the official page.3] Use Attribute Changer to restore Date created property
Alternatively, you can also give a shot to Attribute Changer. Another third-party tool lets you modify the date and time on files, folders, and photos. The software is also free to download and super easy to use.
To use the software, follow the below steps:
First, download Attribute Changer.
Install the software by following all the onscreen steps.
Next, select Change Attributes.
Check the Modify date and time stamps option.
Download it from the official page.
So that was all about changing the Date Created for files in Windows. Specific software will automatically change the creation date once you open and save the file at a later date. However, you can always use tools to change your files’ creation and modification date. But make sure to take a backup in the first place. Why should the Creation Date of a file not change?
There is nothing wrong with changing the creation date of a file or folder. However, some users like to manage their files based on the creation date. So, changing the creation date might not be a good idea if you fall into that category.
On the other side, when you change the creation date, it can corrupt the original file. So even if you have to change the creation date, it would be a good idea to take a backup of the file in the first place. So even if the file gets corrupted, you will still have access to the file.

Changing mouse DPI is usually a gamer’s concern, especially for first-person shooter games which mouse DPI or sensitivity plays a big role in improving aiming in the game. Most players would want to use the same DPI settings (commonly 400, 800 or 1200) as the pro players who are at the top of the game.
However, changing mouse DPI can be challenging depending on if you have a gaming mouse or just a normal mouse that doesn’t have a driver software. In this guide, you will learn how to change mouse DPI in Windows 11 or Windows 10 based on what mouse you use.
What is mouse DPI? DPI stands for Dots Per Inch. It is a unit used to measure how many dots (or pixels) the cursor on the screen can move if you move your mouse an inch in real life. So, if you have a mouse DPI of 800, moving your mouse an inch would move the cursor exactly 800 pixels on the screen.
If you have a gaming mice, you can change your mouse DPI settings directly from the driver software. Most gaming mouses will come with a driver CD or a downloadable web address where you can download and install the driver software. These manufacturer software usually allow you to configure the settings of any peripheral of the same brand.
For example, you would want to use Razer synapse if you have a Razer mouse, Logitech G Hub for Logitech mouse, SteelSeries Engine for SteelSeries mouse, etc.
Note that you cannot use a different software that is not made for your mouse. For example, you cannot change the mouse DPI settings in SteelSeries Engine if you are actually using a Razer mouse, because the app is made only for mouse and other peripherals of the same brand.
Since different brand’s configuration software have different interfaces, we couldn’t show you the exact instructions on how to change mouse DPI in each of these software. It is not difficult to do so as most of these software have a well refined user interface that is very easy to use.
To change mouse DPI settings for a gaming mouse:
Install the mouse’s driver and configuration software.
Open the configuration software and look for setting that has the keyword “DPI” and/or “Sensitivity“.
Change the mouse DPI settings (usually a slider) to your preference.
Below are a few screenshots of the mouse DPI settings in different configuration software.
If your mouse is just a normal mouse that are not supported by any configuration software, since there is no setting for mouse DPI in Windows 10/11, you are left with only two options.
Change the Windows mouse sensitivity instead.
Or manually measure your mouse DPI and change the Windows mouse sensitivity accordingly to match your desired DPI value.
Similar to mouse DPI, mouse sensitivity controls how fast your mouse cursor moves across the screen. Unlike DPI, there is no number that represent the sensitivity used in Windows 11/10. The mouse sensitivity is just a slider with steps that you can choose from.
To change the mouse sensitivity setting in Windows 11/10, follow the steps below.
On Windows search bar, search for and open Mouse Settings.
There are two sliders you can use to change the mouse sensitivity.
In the mouse settings window, under “Cursor speed“, drag the slider to change the mouse sensitivity.
Both sliders are essentially the same. Changing one will affect the other.
If you insist to change your mouse sensitivity to be exactly the same as a certain DPI number, you can manually measure your mouse DPI and change the Windows mouse sensitivity to match the DPI you want.
This particular option acts similarly to mouse acceleration. It will accelerate your mouse sensitivity as you move your mouse faster, which means that your mouse DPI will differ based on how fast you move your mouse. Most pro FPS players will have this option disabled at all cost.
To measure your mouse DPI, follow the steps below.
Prepare a piece of paper (big enough to be a temporary mouse pad) and draw a 2 inches (or 5 cm) line on it.
Go to the following website:
In the webpage, enter 2 as the target distance and select inches as the unit (or 5 and CM as unit).
Now, place your mouse on the beginning of the line on the paper you’ve prepared earlier.
Record the Actual DPI and repeat the process several times to get a more accurate average DPI.
The 2 inches and 5 cm is just an example. You can use a longer or shorter line for the DPI measurement. Be sure to also change the “target distance” value on the webpage if you use a different length of line.
Now that you are able to manually measure the DPI of your mouse, you can then change the mouse sensitivity and re-measure again until you find the sensitivity that matches the DPI that you’re looking to achieve.
After upgrading to Windows 10 recently, I noticed that whenever I opened Explorer, it would always show me Quick Access. I like the new Quick Access feature, but I preferred to have Explorer open to This PC instead.
Table of Contents
In this post, I’ll show you how to change the default folder from Quick Access to This PC when opening Explorer. In addition, I’ll also show you a trick whereby you can set any folder to be the default folder when opening Explorer in Windows 10.Set Default Folder to This PC
In the dialog that pops up, you should already be on the General tab. At the very top, you’ll see Open File Explorer to where you can select from This PC and Quick Access.
Just pick whichever folder you prefer and you’re good to go! Now when you open Explorer, you should see it open to This PC selected instead of Quick Access.HKEY_CURRENT_USERSOFTWAREMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionExplorerAdvanced
On the right hand side, look for a DWORD key named Launch To. 1 means This PC and 2 means Quick Access.
Finally, let’s talk about how we can configure Explorer to open up to any folder as the default folder.Set Any Folder as Default for Explorer
Since there really isn’t any official way to do this, we have to kind of hack Windows to get it to do what we want. I’ve tested it out and the process seems to work just fine. To get started, find your folder and create a shortcut to the folder on your desktop.%APPDATA%MicrosoftInternet ExplorerQuick LaunchUser PinnedTaskBar
Make sure to press Enter after you paste the path into Explorer. Depending on what else is pinned to your taskbar, you might see shortcuts to several programs here, but you should always see a File Explorer shortcut.
Now go ahead and drag the shortcut that we just created from your desktop into the special folder you have open in Explorer. Now we have to do one last thing. Go ahead and delete the File Explorer shortcut and rename the Pictures Shortcut to File Explorer. If you chose a different folder than Pictures, then change whatever the name of that shortcut is to File Explorer.
That’s about it! Now open File explorer from your taskbar and you should be viewing the contents of whichever folder you chose to be the default folder.Pin Folders to Quick Access
If you don’t like any of the two options above, you do have one other choice in Windows 10. You could use the new pinned folders feature that is associated with Quick Access. When you open Explorer, you’ll see a pin icon next to several folders under Quick Access.
So in summary, if you want to change the default folder system-wide, you can only pick between This PC and Quick Access. If you use the second method involving the shortcut hack, then you have to use the shortcut from the taskbar.
High refresh rate is a buzzword in the Display industry. Everyone wants to have a high refresh rate display on their PCs. Not just PCs, almost every smartphone launching these days offers a high refresh rate.
If you have a Windows PC with a high refresh rate and just upgraded to Windows 11, you might be looking to change the refresh rate to utilize the full potential of your display.
I have explained how you can easily change refresh rates in Windows 11. But before we jump into the steps required to do so, let’s understand the refresh rate.
What is Refresh Rate?
When we look at any content on a screen, the pixels behind the screen refresh many times to make the animations smoother. The refresh rate accurately measures the number of times your screen refreshes in a second.
The unit to measure refresh rate is Hz(Hertz). You might have heard about the 60Hz display. It simply means a Display with a 60Hz refresh rate will refresh 60 times in a second.
The higher the refresh rate, the smoother the screen animation will be. Scrolling feeds, watching content, everything feels smoother on a high refresh rate Display. Now when you know what refresh rate is is, let’s understand how you can change it in Windows 11.
Change Refresh Rate in Windows 11
Microsoft has added an option in the built-in settings app; users can change the refresh rate in Windows 11. The option is slightly off the sight in the settings app, so a normal might not be able to find it. Follow the below steps to change the refresh rate in Windows 11.
Step 1: Type Windows Key + I keyboard shortcut to open the Settings app on your PC. Alternatively, you can search for the settings from the search bar.
Step 2: In the Settings app, tap on the System. Under System settings, tap on the Display section.
Step 3: In the Display, section scrolls down to Related settings. The very first option under Related settings will be Advanced Display, tap on it.
Step 4: Under the Advanced Display section, look for Choose a refresh rate option. It will show the refresh rate currently in use on your PC.
Note: I would like to note here that the available refresh rate options will entirely depend on your PC’s display. If you have a standard Display, you might not have a higher refresh option.
Step 7: After it, you will receive a prompt on your screen. It will have two options: Keep changes and Revert. Tap on keep changes to go ahead with the newly selected refresh rate. In case you want to go back to the previously fixed refresh rate, tap on the Revert button.
Note: Make sure to provide input here to change the refresh rate as if you do not give any information, the system will automatically revert to the previous refresh rate.
How do I enable 144hz on Windows 11?
You can enable 144h on Windows 11 from the built-in settings app under Display settings. I have provided the exact steps required above in this article.
How do I change my refresh rate?
You can easily change the refresh rate in Windows 11 from the settings app. Open Settings on your PC and follow the steps provided in the article above.
How To Efficiently Hide Pictures and Videos? 1. You Can Take the App Route
Amongst several other apps, Keep Photos Secret is one of the best apps that lets you hide pictures and videos by transferring your images and videos to a password-protected vault. The only way someone can have access to them is if they have your password, which is next to impossible.
The best part about this app is that it deletes the images and videos that you don’t want someone to see from the original location. This way even if someone has access to your gallery or the original location, they won’t be able to find images there.
Password Recovery Option
Forgetting password is very common. It is probably one of the reasons why many users refrain from keeping passwords. Even if you lose or forget your primary password, you needn’t worry. This photo hiding app gives you an option to enter a recovery email on which it would send you the passcode just in case you forget your old password.
Double Layer Security
Tired of punching in the pin every time you open the app. You can enable the fingerprint lock/ unlock capability but that is only if your device supports a fingerprint lock/unlock.
Note: Only works if your phone or device has in-built fingerprint sensor.
Even if someone has a spec of doubt that maybe you are using a photo hiding app to hide pictures and videos, he or she can still not trace this app. Why? Because of its stealth mode function that makes the app disappear from the recent app list.
Watch Videos and Photos in The App Itself
The app lets you export and view images and videos at the same time in the vault itself.2. Manually Hide Pictures on Android gallery
Another simple way using which you can hide pictures and videos is by following the steps below –
2. Now you may move all your photos into this folder.
This way you’ll be able to hide your images. But, if by some means, someone unhides your folders, your images would still be accessible. So, it’s much better to use an app that lets you put a password to lock your images.
Out of the two options mentioned above, using a photo hiding app is the simplest and the most effective way through which you can add several layers of security and hide pictures and videos. Even if you don’t have your device in your hands, you can still breathe a sigh of relief that no one will be able to steal your privacy or ruin those precious memories or (even your reputation).Quick Reaction:
