Suggested March 2024 Common Troubleshooting Techniques For Android

With any bit of technology, be it a gadget or software, there are some basics for general troubleshooting some people don’t always think about. Even the most tech savvy people can get into a bind with misbehaving technology.

Read the Instructions

While this seems like the most obvious step, we tend to scan over the instructions may times looking for the important stuff. If you are running into a problem, make sure to read what is on the screen. If you are getting a specific error, that’s a great place to start. Try to search the error in Google to see what is causing it.

Also, when in doubt, look at the manual or tutorial. Many times, there is a FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions) section where the solution to your issue may be.

Restart

Restarting your device using the power button or possibly remove the battery for 30-60 seconds can solve a lot of little quirky problems. It is recommended to power cycle your phone every day or two to keep things running smoothly.

Clearing the Application data

By clearing the data, you effectively reset the entire application reverting it back to when you first installed the application. There can be some leftover info on your microSD card though. Make sure you have a back up of any important information before erasing the application data.

Uninstalling the application Master reset

Note: There is no way to recover any information after a factory reset. Make sure to backup contacts and other important information in any note taking or applications not synced anywhere else!!!

Final thoughts

Whenever you have a problem and need to do a little troubleshooting, try to use a little common sense. Think about any changes you have made to settings or new applications you have downloaded recently that may be causing the problems.

What are your troubleshooting steps?

Top Data Augmentation Techniques: Ultimate Guide For 2023

Data augmentation techniques generate different versions of a real dataset artificially to increase its size. Computer vision and natural language processing (NLP) models use data augmentation strategy to handle with data scarcity and insufficient data diversity.

Data-centric AI/ML development practices such as data augmentation can increase accuracy of machine learning models. According to an experiment, a deep learning model after image augmentation performs better in training loss (i.e. penalty for a bad prediction) & accuracy and validation loss & accuracy than a deep learning model without augmentation for image classification task.

Data augmentation techniques in computer vision

There are geometric and color space augmentation methods for images to create image diversity in the model. It is easy to find many coding examples for these augmentation transformations from open source libraries and in articles on the topic.

Adding noise

For blurry images, adding noise on the image can be useful. By “salt and pepper noise”, the image looks like consisting of white and black dots.

Cropping

A section of the image is selected, cropped and then resized to the original image size.

Flipping

The image is flipped horizontally and vertically. Flipping rearranges the pixels while protecting the features of the image. Vertical flipping is not meaningful for some photos, but it can be useful in cosmology or for microscopic photos.

Source: MEDIUM, 1:ORIGINAL IMAGE – 2. HORIZONTAL FLIP – 3.VERTICAL FLIP

Rotation

The image is rotated by a degree between 0 and 360 degree. Every rotated image will be unique in the model.

Scaling

The image is scaled outward and inward. An object in new image can be smaller or bigger than in the original image by scaling.

Translation

The image is shifted into various areas along the x-axis or y-axis, so neural network looks everywhere in the image to capture it.

Brightness

The brightness of the image is changed and new image will be darker or lighter. This technique allows the model to recognize image in different lighting levels.

Contrast

The contrast of the image is changed and new image will be different from luminance and colour aspects. The following image’s contrast is changed randomly.

Color Augmentation

The color of image is changed by new pixel values. There is an example image which is grayscale.

Saturation

Saturation is depth or intensity of color in an image. The following image is saturated with data augmentation method.

Data augmentation techniques in natural language models

Data augmentation techniques are applied on character, word and text levels.

Easy Data Augmentation (EDA) Methods

EDA methods include easy text transformations, for example a word is chosen randomly from the sentence and replaced with one of this word synonyms or two words are chosen and swapped in the sentence. EDA techniques examples in NLP processing are

Synonym replacement

Text Substitution (rule-based, ML-based, mask-based and etc.)

Random insertion

Random swap

Random deletion

Word & sentence shuffling

Back Translation

A sentence is translated in one language and then new sentence is translated again in the original language. So, different sentences are created.

Text Generation

Developers can optimize natural language models by training them on web data which contains large volumes of human speech, languages, syntaxes, and sentiments.

Data augmentation techniques for audio data

Audio data augmentation methods include cropping out a portion of data, noise injection, shifting time, speed tuning changing pitch, mixing background noise and masking frequency.

Advanced data augmentation techniques

Advanced data augmentation methods are commonly used in deep learning domain. Some of these techniques are

Data augmentation libraries

There are libraries for developers, such as Albumentations, Augmentor, Imgaug, nlpaug, NLTK and spaCy. These libraries include geometric transformation & color space transformations functions, Kernel filters (i.e. image processing function for sharpening and blurring) and other text transformations. Data augmentation libraries use different deep learning frameworks, for example, Keras, MxNet, PyTorch and TensorFlow.

If you are ready to use data augmentation in your firm, we prepared data driven lists of companies. However, we don’t yet have a list exclusively for data augmentation libraries yet. Most of the time, this functionality is provided as part of more comprehensive software packages (i.e. deep learning software):

Effective Techniques For Profit Prediction Using Power Bi

What I want to cover with this tutorial are some great examples of profit prediction in the future using Power BI. To achieve this in Power BI you need a number of different modelling and formula techniques, but you must be able to use them correctly and simultaneously. You may watch the full video of this tutorial at the bottom of this blog.

When it comes to the output that you can create inside Power BI, you can predict what might happen in the future by ‘shocking’ some variables around in your calculated logic.

In this tutorial, I’m trying to adjust variables such as how many customers there are as well as the cost of goods sold to those customers. Moreover, I’m attempting to predict what the ultimate outcomes would be if any of these scenarios played out.

What I’ve also enabled in this particular report page is some sensitivity analysis. Not only can we see the end results, but we can also see the variations of results based on the sensitivity inputs that we place inside our reports.

In my sample dashboard for Profit Predictions report, the first thing that you can see is the table for Customers Change Scenarios. This is the first thing that I made since I want to know how things would be if I could successfully increase the foot traffic into my stores after some marketing efforts.

This table explains how things would play out if I increased my customers by 4 percent (4%), for instance. Also, I want to know how it would affect the underlying trend of my profit in the future.

Basically, I just need to work out the customer forecast first based on the projected foot traffic of customers. Then, I could just increase or decrease the customers using the selection tool.

After that, I need to somehow incorporate this customer increase into the sales data. So I just multiplied the projected customer increase by the average sale per customer that you can see in Avg. Sales Per Customer. From there, I can integrate it to finally show up in the different profit scenarios.

Furthermore, the results for that would give us part of the equation for sales. As you know, Sales subtracted by Cost will give us Profit. So, this part corresponds to the sales part of the equation.

Next, I’m going to look at the changes to the costs in the Cost Change Scenarios table.

For example, the customers has increased by 7 percent (7%) and the costs per item that we are selling has decreased by 10 percent (10%).

Now, you can automatically see the results for that scenario in the Profit Predictions Based on Customer & Cost Scenarios table over any time frame.

For instance, I’m going to look at the results for the second and third quarter of 2023. You can see that the initial profit forecast is around $21 million dollars. And based on the change scenarios that I have selected, it is predicted that the profit will increase to $26 million. Meaning, there is around $5 million difference between the profit and an impressive 24 percent (24%) difference in the profit scenario.

In the graph below, you can see the dynamic increase of profit from May 2023 to Sept 2023. You can also see how it changes every single month in this table here.

I’ve also created a table for Regional Groups Breakdown and you can see that it has data for South and North Florida.

Now, I’ll jump to the Quarterly Insights report where you can see a graph here for the Total Sales Per Region.

This is where you can see how divided our sales are based on regions. After seeing the results, you can then research the reasons why there is a big gap between the sales of these regions. It could be because of the management group or it could just be for geographic reasons. That’s where the sales team works.

Meanwhile, for North Florida, there will be more than $2 million expected increase in profit.

Take a look at this example that I set up beforehand.

As you can see, this tutorial is just a preview to a more in-depth event around scenario analysis. If you do want to learn more about all of the individual techniques that go into making this work, certainly check out the Scenario Analysis Deep Dive course at Enterprise DNA Online.

This is some really unique analytical work that you can now do inside Power BI. It just requires utilizing the right features and techniques inside your models and formulas to get this working well.

This prediction type work that you can complete inside Power BI can produce some very impressive insights. So, I highly recommend diving into this one.

Enjoy working through this detailed video.

9 Most Common Triggers For Bipolar Mood Episodes

Bipolar Mood Episodes, also known as bipolar disorder (sometimes also referred to as hypomania or manic mania), is an illness of mental health that is characterized by frequent ups and downs of mental state (depression).

Sadness, despair, and the general feeling of not having fun in life are all common signs of depression. Euphoria, joy, energy levels, or a sudden increase in irritation are all signs of hypomanic or manic states. Mood swings have been associated with energy, sleep, behavior, judgment, activity, and cognitive function disruptions.

Mood swings can occur each year or more than times throughout the year. Although most people with bipolar disorder have an emotional manifestation during the interval between episodes, some may not notice any symptoms.

Mood swings, as well as other signs of bipolar disorder, can be managed with medication. However, the condition itself is long-lasting. The use of drugs and therapy for talk disorders are the most effective treatments for bipolar disorders (psychotherapy).

Symptoms

Disorders with characteristics that are similar to bipolar disorder can be diverse. Hypomania, mania, and even sadness are all possible. The unpredictable mood and changes in behavior caused by symptoms could create significant discomfort and difficulty with daily life.

Bipolar I Disorder − You have likely been through manic episodes at once, and possibly significant depression and hypomania also. If you’re manic, your perception of reality can be altered (psychosis).

Bipolar II Disorders − You have experienced hypomania and depression that are both severe and mania, but not full-blown ones.

Cyclothymic disorder − You may face recurring hypomanic and depression-related symptoms for at least about two months (or one year for teens and teenagers) (though less severe than serious depression).

To devise strategies to maintain stability and health when faced with bipolar illness, it’s essential first to comprehend and identify the triggers that cause these conditions to become more severe.

Sleeping Patterns

These issues are frequent sign of mental health problems. However, disturbed sleep can result in mood swings and mood disorders. “Sleep lack is the most frequently mentioned cause of mood disorders for patients suffering from bipolar illness,” according to the study’s authors. Bipolar I sufferers are more prone to hypomania or mania caused by deprivation; however, around 12% of patients, particularly those with bipolar II, have reported that sleep deprivation caused a depressive episode.

Negative Life Events Drug and Alcohol Use

Recreational alcohol and drugs are widely recognized as risk factors in the development of manic, hypomanic, and depression-related episodes among people who have bipolar disorder. This can be the case for various causes on an individual level in the brain. Long-term, heavy use is particularly problematic for those who have bipolar disorder. However, even moderate or intermittent usage can cause problems for some. It is because substances like alcohol and drugs can affect the delicate balance of neurochemicals in the body and could reduce the efficacy of psychotropic drugs.

Seasonal Changes

Although depression with unipolarity is more commonly associated with seasonal fluctuations, bipolar illnesses can be profoundly affected by these changes. Studies have revealed that people suffering from bipolar illness have a higher likelihood of experiencing seasons-related changes than those suffering from unipolar depression.

The Reproductive Cycle

Changes in hormones during the menstrual cycle could be major triggers for women with bipolar disorder. Most women claim that they suffer from “menstrual period-related mood issues,” notably the beginning or build-up of depression during the days preceding their menstrual cycle. Additionally, treatment adjustments to be able to accommodate pregnancy, the effects of hormonal fluctuations, as well as the stress of changing life conditions, can have a profound impact on mood disorders and can trigger recurrences in previously stable people.

Goal Attainment and Positive Events

While stress is the most common reason for hypomanic or manic episodes for people suffering from bipolar illness, achieving an objective or experiencing other positive experiences could have the same impact. A vicious cycle could be initiated through seemingly innocent events such as receiving an award, getting an appointment, falling in love, or even taking a break.

Bad Breakups or Marriage Breakdowns

Many marriages for people with bipolar disorder fail, particularly those who have experienced significant episodes of mania during the last time. The divorce process can be difficult and time-consuming, so seeking help from a therapist may assist you in coping.

Antidepressants, Corticosteroids, and Other Medication

Manic episodes can worsen through treatment for bipolar disorder, which can trigger an uncontrollable downward spiral of behavior and emotions. Some doctors are hesitant to prescribe antidepressants to people who have bipolar disorder because they have seen patients with the illness suffer from manic episodes when they first began treatment with these drugs.

The Death of a Loved One and Bereavement

The loss of a loved one can be the most challenging possibility that can occur to you. While many people with bipolar disorder can manage their illness during their grief, others could suffer severe consequences that can manifest as “funeral manic.” This happens when someone with unstable bipolar symptoms attends funeral services and experiences an episode of mania during the days or weeks following. There must be a more significant amount of support and surveillance at all times during mourning.

Conclusion

Because bipolar illness is an ongoing condition requiring constant monitoring and treatment to maintain stability, you must be vigilant for possible triggers and collaborate with medical professionals until the remission is established and functional levels have been achieved. But, the most effective treatment for bipolar disorder goes beyond treating only superficial symptoms. Instead, it offers holistic support by discovering and developing your unique collection of talents and interests while you strive for a complete recovery. These programs assist you in overcoming bipolar disorder and living your life with confidence and hope by addressing the entire person.

Troubleshooting Continuity Issues On Ios And Mac

Continuity and Handoff are features built into your iOS devices and Macs that allow the devices to work more seamlessly together. With Continuity, you have instant access to a personal hotspot on demand, the ability to send and receive SMS messages and to make and take phone calls from your Mac, and the ability to pick up where you left off on one device from another.

Although they can work well at times, there is always the lingering chance that the functionality may not work right for you or connectivity may be flaky. In this piece, we’ll go over several troubleshooting steps you can take if your Continuity and Handoff experience isn’t going as expected.

Continuity isn’t working right

So you’ve tried over and over, and for whatever reason Continuity just isn’t working for you between your iPhone and your Mac. What should you do?

Check your system requirements

The first thing you should do is make sure you’re using a supported device. Although iOS and macOS support the feature, not all devices support it.

Apple notes that the following Macs are Continuity:

MacBook Air (mid 2012 and later)

MacBook Pro (mid 2012 and later)

MacBook (Retina, 12-inch, early 2024)

iMac (late 2012 and later)

Mac Mini (late 2012 and later)

Mac Pro (late 2013)

Apple also notes that the following iOS devices are compatible with Continuity:

iPhone 5 or later

iPad Pro

iPad fifth-generation

iPad Air or later

iPad mini or later

iPod touch fifth generation or later

Are you using an unsupported device? If so, that’s your issue. If not, move on to the next troubleshooting steps.

Troubleshooting Continuity on iOS

We’ll divide these troubleshooting steps between iOS and Mac to make things a little easier to follow; this way, you can check each device individually instead of sorting through the troubleshooting steps yourself. First, we’ll start with what you should do to troubleshoot issues on iOS.

Make sure you have a Wi-Fi and Bluetooth turned on

Some iPhone users never bother to make sure that they’re using Wi-Fi. I know this to be the case with my parents and grandparents, because when they are able to use the internet using a high-speed LTE connection, they think it means they’re on Wi-Fi. I’m sure other elderly people out there think the same way and you really have to be of the tech-savvy generation to know the difference between a cellular connection and a Wi-Fi connection.

Because a Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connection are required, you should make sure you have Wi-Fi and Bluetooth turned on in the first place. To do this, you can simply swipe up from the bottom of the screen to launch Control Center, and make sure the Wi-Fi toggle button and Bluetooth toggle button are both lit up:

Make sure your iOS devices are on the same network

Even though both your iOS devices are connected to Wi-Fi, this doesn’t mean they’re both operating on the same Wi-Fi network. Often times, there are multiple Wi-Fi networks around you, and your devices will connect to any network they’re familiar with so long as it has the strongest signal.

Check to make sure that both devices are on the same Wi-Fi network, because this is an important requirement of Continuity.

On your iOS devices, go to the Settings app and just verify that you’re connected to the same Wi-Fi network by looking at the network name:

Ensure you have Handoff enabled on your iOS devices

If Handoff isn’t working, make sure you have it turned on in the first place. A lot of times, the feature will be turned off by users who are wanting to preserve battery life, or users will turn on Low Power Mode, which disabled Handoff automatically to save power.

If after all these troubleshooting steps everything looks good, and Continuity still isn’t working right, then the problem might be on your Mac’s side. Below, we’ll go over Continuity troubleshooting steps for your Mac.

Make sure your carrier supports the Personal Hotspot feature Check that text message forwarding is enabled on your iPhone Troubleshooting Continuity on macOS

Next up, we’ll give you a few troubleshooting steps you can follow on your Mac if Continuity and its related features aren’t working and troubleshooting iOS didn’t fix the problem.

Ensure Wi-Fi and Bluetooth are turned on Ensure that your iOS device and Mac are on the same Wi-Fi network

Some Continuity features only work when your iOS device and your Mac are on the same Wi-Fi network, such as using your Mac to take and make phone calls and using your Mac to send and receive SMS messages. If your devices are on different networks, then your Mac and iOS device won’t be able to find each other on the network and a connection will be unable to establish.

Open the Wi-Fi menu in your Mac’s Menu Bar and ensure that you’re on the same network as is displayed in the Wi-Fi preferences pane from the Settings app on your iOS device.

Make sure Handoff is enabled on your Mac Make sure your Mac’s FaceTime app is set to take phone calls

Since your Mac’s FaceTime app is the app that handles incoming and outgoing phone calls on your Mac if your iPhone is connected to the same Wi-Fi network, it makes sense to check to make sure FaceTime is configured to handle phone calls if this part of Continuity isn’t working for you.

Sign out and back in to your iCloud account on your Mac

If all else fails, try signing out of your iCloud account on your Mac and then signing back in. iCloud plays a critical role in many Continuity features, so any kind of bug related to it may impact your experience.

Wrapping up

With all these troubleshooting steps at your disposal, you should now have the ability to find out why Continuity features aren’t working on your devices. If they’re not, you can always try turning your devices off and on again.

ChatGBT is a misspelling of ChatGPT, which refers to the AI chatbot developed by OpenAI. The typo often occurs when individuals accidentally type “B” instead of “P” on their keyboards, as these keys are adjacent to each other. This can happen due to typographical errors, autocorrect mistakes, or simply a lack of attention. It is important to note that ChatGBT is not a valid name for any chatbot or AI model. It holds no meaning or relevance in the field of NLP or AI. Therefore, it is crucial to exercise caution when typing ChatGPT to avoid confusion, misinformation, or even potential security threats.

ChatGBT serves as an example of a common AI jargon mistake that can occur when individuals are unfamiliar with the specific terminology and acronyms used in the field of AI. AI jargon encompasses the specialized vocabulary and expressions utilized to describe various AI-related concepts, methods, or applications.

ChatGBT is not the sole AI term that can be easily misspelled or misused by those unfamiliar with AI jargon. Several other terms share similarities in spelling, pronunciation, or meaning, leading to confusion among users. Let’s explore one such example:

NLP, depending on the context, can stand for either natural language processing or neuro-linguistic programming. Natural language processing represents a subfield of AI that deals with understanding and generating human language. On the other hand, neuro-linguistic programming refers to a psychological approach that focuses on the connection between language, patterns of behavior, and subjective experience.

It is crucial to distinguish between these two distinct meanings of NLP to ensure accurate communication and comprehension within the AI community.

As previously mentioned, ChatGBT has no connection to OpenAI or ChatGPT and is not a valid name for any chatbot or AI model. Consequently, one of the most vital steps in preventing misunderstandings and maintaining accuracy when typing or searching for ChatGPT is to avoid downloading or using applications branded as ChatGBT.
