Windows Update on Windows 10 is the number one instigator of system malfunction.

Recently, users with Creators Update have had a hard time upgrading due to an error.

During the update installation process, they were prompted with the Windows setup could not configure to run on this computer’s hardware error.

In order to address this, we prepared a list of applicable solutions so make sure to check it out.

If you’re constantly stalled by the error after numerous tries, the below-presented steps should help you out.

How do I fix the hardware upgrade configuration error in Windows 10? 1. Run Windows Update Troubleshooter

Windows always had a plethora of troubleshooting tools at users’ disposal. With Windows 10, Microsoft finally decided to make a dedicated menu for troubleshooters.

Windows Update Troubleshooter is one of the most used ones, which is rather obvious if we take into consideration the notoriety of Windows 10 Updates.

In this case, we recommend running it once the major update installation fails. It should restart the update services and check for additional errors.

Follow these instructions to run it in Windows 10:

2. Restart Update Services with a batch file

If the built-in troubleshooter fails, you can always take the matters into your own hands. There are various services related to Windows Update and restarting them could be helpful.

In addition, the downloaded update files ready for installation can often get corrupted for various reasons.

So, what you’ll need to do is to both restart the dedicated services and delete the Software Distribution folder.

After that, the update sequence should recommence.

There are various ways to do this, but the manual approach can take too much of your time. The best way to do it is by running the batch script, and we explained how to do it, here.

3. Run SFC and DISM

SFC and DISM are two essential built-in utilities for troubleshooting major system errors. They should scan the system files and replace them.

The System File Checker tool is the first tool you should run, just to confirm that the error is not within the system.

If it doesn’t help, you might have better luck with Deployment Image Servicing and Management.

Follow these instructions to run SFC on Windows 10:

And this is how to run DISM:

Open Command Prompt with administrative permissions.

In the command line, type the following commands and press Enter after each:

DISM /online /Cleanup-Image /ScanHealth

DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth

Wait for the procedure to end and restart your PC.

4. Uninstall Internet Information Services

There are some system features that, when enabled, can cause various update issues.

In this case, numerous users found that IISA (Internet Information Services Admin) services were causing the upgrade error.

Expert tip:

The first way relies on disabling this Windows Feature, while the second requires the uninstalling via the Command Prompt command-line. Here’s how to perform both and, hopefully, resolve the issue at hand.

Disable in Windows Features:

In the Windows Search bar, type Windows Features and open “Turn Windows Features on or off“.

Scroll below until you reach Internet Information Services and uncheck its box.

Confirm changes and restart the PC.

Uninstall with Command Prompt:

Open Command Prompt as an administrator.

In the command-line, type the following commands and press Enter:

Close the command prompt.

5. Update with Update Assistant or Media Creation Tool

When it comes to major Windows 10 updates, we always recommend upgrading manually with one of the available tools.

The over-the-air distribution is known for various issues and you can avoid them with Update Assistant or Media Creation Tool.

They’ll download the update automatically and install it, without worrying about problems Windows Update feature is plagued with.

Here’s how to update Windows 10 with Update Assistant:

Download Update Assistant, here.

Run the tool and wait until it prepares your PC for updating.

Back up your data from the system partition.

Follow the instructions until the installation is completed.

And this is how to utilize Media Creation Tool for the same purpose:

6: Install update with the external media

If the system update won’t install through the Windows shell, you can always boot from the installation media drive and install updates that way.

In order to do so, you’ll need the Media Creation Tool and USB drive with 6 or more gigabytes of storage space.

After you’ve created the bootable drive, just change the boot sequence, boot from a drive and upgrade the system without issues.

7. Remove all peripheral devices and check drivers

Since the error prompt obviously points in the direction of hardware failure, you should remove all peripheral devices from USB ports and restart the installation.

A lot of issues in Windows 10 are to be blamed for faulty drivers for legacy devices and lack of proper support.

So, before you start with the updating, make sure to remove all peripheral devices and stick only with the essential ones – mouse and keyboard.

In addition, we recommend navigating to Device Manager and double-checking the state of system drivers.

If there’s an exclamation point informing you about the device failure, make sure to get the proper driver prior to a system upgrade.

8. Block the update for the time being

Finally, as the case has shown on many occasions, major Windows updates are quite often unpolished after the release. The latest Windows 10 April Update caused a lot of problems for a variety of both home and enterprise users.

In other words, waiting for some time until Microsoft provides hotfixes is a good idea.

Also, since updates are mandatory, you’ll need to postpone them for some time. Here’s how to do it in a few simple steps:

Still experiencing troubles? Fix them with this tool:

Some driver-related issues can be solved faster by using a tailored driver solution. If you’re still having problems with your drivers, simply install OutByte Driver Updater and get it up and running immediately. Thus, let it update all drivers and fix other PC issues in no time!

How To Fix “Publisher Could Not Be Verified” Error On Windows 11

After the release of Windows 11 and a renewed focus on Microsoft Store, developers are flocking to publish their apps on the official store. We recently curated a list of the best Windows 11 apps and found that most popular apps are available on Microsoft Store. That said, some users still prefer to install apps through the setup file. Most apps on Windows 11 are bundled using the modern MSIX or MSIXBUNDLE container, and they don’t install easily without verified certificates. Hence, users get errors such as “Publisher could not be verified” while sideloading MSIX or MSIXBUNDLE packages on Windows 11. So in this article, we bring you a tutorial on how to fix the “Publisher could not be verified” error on Windows 11.

Fix the “Publisher Could Not Be Verified” Error on Windows 11 (2023)

We have mentioned two methods to fix the “Publisher certificate could not be verified” error on Windows 11. If the first method does not work for you, move to the next solution.

Fix the “Publisher Could Not Be Verified” Error on Windows 11 by Installing Verified Certificates

If you are getting an error along the lines of “This app package’s publisher certificate could not be verified” on Windows 11, do not worry. There is a simple way to install the root certificate with a verified signature. This method is applicable for both MSIX and MSIXBUNDLE packages. Here is how to do it.

1. In this method, we are going to install Rise Media Player, which is an excellent open-source media player for Windows 11. As you can see below, while installing the MSIX package, it throws the “Publisher certificate could not be verified” error and does not allow the user to install the app.

Note: If “Digital Signatures” does not appear here, move to the next section for a working solution.

10. As you can see here, the signed certificate has been installed. You can now close all the open windows.

Fix the “Publisher Certificate Could Not Be Verified” Error on Windows 11 Through PowerShell

If you don’t see the “Digital Signatures” tab in the properties window in the above-mentioned fix, this method will help you install the app. It generally happens when the developer has not shipped the app with the required certificates. To demonstrate the steps in this tutorial, I am installing Lossless Cut, a video/ audio editing tool. It doesn’t come with a Digital Signature, so you will have to manually install the app using PowerShell by bypassing the “Publisher certificate could not be verified” error. Here are the steps to follow.

Unblock the MSIX/MSIXBUNDLE Package

Extract the MSIX/MSIXBUNDLE Package

4. Now, open the extracted folder, and you will find an “ chúng tôi ” file.

Enable Developer Settings on Windows 11

2. After that, enable the toggle next to “Developer Mode“. This will allow you to sideload MSIX/MSIXBUNDLE packages from any source, even without a certificate.

Override the “Publisher Certificate Could Not Be Verified” Error and Install the App

2. In the PowerShell window, enter the below command and replace filepath with the path of the XML file you copied above. Just paste the file path at the end of the command, as shown in the screenshot. Finally, hit Enter and the app will be installed on your PC right away.

Add-AppxPackage -Register filepath Install MSIX and MSIXBUNDLE Packages on Windows 11 Seamlessly

Fix Microsoft Edge Is Showing Blank White Screen On Windows Computer

If Microsoft Edge is showing a blank white screen when you launch it, the solutions provided in this post may help you fix the problem. The users who experienced this problem have stated that Edge displays a blank white or black screen for some time when they launch it. The problem appears every time they open the Microsoft Edge web browser. Some of them have tried clearing the Edge cache but that did not help.

Fix Microsoft Edge is showing blank white screen

Here is what you should do if Microsoft Edge is showing a blank white screen or a black screen after you launch it.

Disable Hardware Acceleration

Disable Edge extensions

Scan your PC with a good antivirus and antimalware software

Update or reinstall your Graphics card driver

Reset or repair Microsoft Edge

Create a new user account

Uninstall the recent Windows Update

Perform a System Restore

Let’s see all these solutions in detail.

1] Disable Hardware Acceleration

The most common cause of this problem is the Hardware Acceleration in Edge. If you have enabled this feature, disable it and then see if it fixes the problem. Because Edge is showing a blank white or black screen, you have to wait for some time until its interface becomes visible or you can try the following methods to make the edge interface visible.

Press Win + R keys. This will launch the Run command box.

After that, terminate another Edge sub-task and repeat this process until its interface becomes visible. When its interface becomes visible, you can easily turn off the Hardware Acceleration.

If the above method does not work, follow the process written below until the Edge interface becomes visible.

In the Microsoft Edge Properties window, select the Shortcut tab. There, you will see the following path in the Target.

"C:Program Files (x86)MicrosoftEdgeApplicationmsedge.exe"

Replace the above path with the following:

"C:Program Files (x86)MicrosoftEdgeApplicationmsedge.exe" -disable-gpu

The steps to disable the Hardware Acceleration in Edge are as follows:

Launch Microsoft Edge.

Select System and performance from the left side.

Turn off the switch next to Use hardware acceleration when available option.

The above steps will disable the Hardware Acceleration in Edge. The issue should get fixed now. If not, try the next solution.

2] Disable Edge extensions

If the Edge interface becomes visible after performing the above fix, try to disable all extensions in Edge. Sometimes problems occur in a web browser due to an extension. If the issue is occurring due to a problematic extension, disabling it will fix the problem. After disabling all the extensions, restart Edge. See if the blank screen appears this time or not. If not, restart Edge one more time to confirm. If Edge does not show the blank screen, you have to identify the problematic extension. To do so, enable one of the extensions and restart Edge. If the problem reappears, that extension is the culprit.

3] Scan your PC with a good antimalware software

Scan your system using Windows Defender or any other good antivirus and antimalware software. This will let you know whether your system is infected by a virus or malware. Microsoft Safety Scanner is a free virus and malware removal tool. You can also use it. You may also use freeware AdwCleaner to scan your system.

4] Update or reinstall your Graphics card driver

Update your Graphics driver and see if that helps. If you recently updated your Display driver and then this issue started, maybe you want to roll back the display driver to its earlier version.

If updating or rolling back your Graphics card driver does not help, you can try uninstalling and reinstalling it. To do so, follow the steps listed below:

Download the latest version of your graphics card driver from the manufacturer’s website.

Now, open the Device Manager.

Select Uninstall device. After uninstalling your graphics card driver, your system will switch to the default display driver and you will not lose your display.

Restart your system after installing the graphics card driver.

5] Reset or repair Microsoft Edge

If the Edge shows graphics glitch and other issues, resetting or repairing it can fix the problem. The options to reset and repair Microsoft Edge are available in Windows 10 Settings. First, you should repair Edge. If this does not fix the problem, reset it.

In Windows 11 Settings, you will not find an option to reset Microsoft Edge. Hence, you have to repair it. The below-listed steps will help you repair or reset Edge in Windows 11:

Open Windows 11 Settings.

6] Create a new user account

If after resetting or repairing Microsoft Edge, the issue still persists, some of the user account files might have been corrupted. In this case, creating a new Local Administrator user account can fix the problem. If Edge does not show a blank white or black screen in the new user account, you can transfer all your user data from the old profile to the new one.

To transfer your user data from your old user profile to the new user profile, do the following:

Open File Explorer.

Open your C drive and then open the Users folder. You will see all your user profile folders there.

Now, open the old user profile folder and copy all the content inside it.

After that, open the new user profile folder and paste the copied data there.

7] Uninstall the recent Windows Update

Sometimes, Windows Updates cause issues on a user’s system. In this case, uninstalling the recently installed Windows Update fixes the problem. If this is the case with you, you can uninstall the recent Windows Update from Windows 11/10 Settings or the Control Panel.

8] Perform a System Restore

System Restore is a tool developed by Microsoft that helps users protect and repair their Windows computers. After turning on this feature, you can create a System Restore Point so that you could use it to restore your system to the previous working state.

If you have created a System Restore Point before the problem started occurring on your system, use it to perform a System Restore and take your system back to the previous working state. This should work.
