Suggested March 2024 How To Adjust Text Size In Firefox

Spending a lot of time in front of a computer screen is not as harmless as it looks. The glare from the monitors pose a serious threat to our eyesight, so it’s always important to take short breaks to relax the eyes. If you work with computers a lot and find that your eyesight isn’t as good as it used to, you’ll be happy to know that a Firefox add-on called NoSquint allows you to zoom in and out the text of a webpage.

The add-on requires Firefox to be restarted after installation, so make sure to do this before using it.

Once the add-on is installed, a tutorial page should load with short but helpful instructions on using the add-on for the first time.

There are two things you can do straight from this page: remove the toolbar buttons (the + and – signs on the top bar), or customize the placement of the buttons anywhere within the browser.

Other ways to enable zooming is to hold down the “Ctrl” key while scrolling the mousewheel up and down. Scrolling up zooms in, while scrolling down zooms out.

If your mouse doesn’t have a wheel in the middle, you can hold down “Ctrl” and then press the “+” or “-” sign on the keyboard.

To get an idea of how much you are zoomed in or out, you can hover over the magnifying glass icon on the bottom right corner. This should show details about the current page you’re on.

There are also more things you can adjust under Global Settings like forgetting settings for websites not visited in a specific amount of time (one, three and six months and one year). You can also make the add-on forget the settings when Firefox closes.

Under the Zooming tab, you can select the zoom method: Full page or Text zoom. Full page Zoom adjusts both image and text sizes, while Text zoom adjusts the text only.

Some websites may not work with NoSquint due to the way they’re structured. For this, you can go to Exceptions and add an Exception Pattern that fixes the problem. It’s a bit technical, so I highly recommend thoroughly reading the Help section.

Having used this extension for a while now, I find that it is indispensable especially for websites that use small print. It also helps that there is more than one way to zoom in and out, so it’s always accessible with either keyboard or mouse. With an add-on as easy to configure and easier to use, you’ll never have to squint at web pages again.

How To Find And Replace Text In Chrome And Firefox

A browser, as its name implies, is meant for browsing the Web. It is not meant to be used as a text editor. That’s why you seldom find text-editing features like “Find and Replace Text” in the browser.

Find and Replace for Google Chrome

Find and Replace is one of the best find and replace extensions for Google Chrome.

FoxReplace for Firefox

FoxReplace is just like Search and Replace but for Firefox. Once installed, restart your Firefox browser and you are good to go. To start using FoxReplace, just press Ctrl + Shift + F9, and you will be presented with a small toolbar on the left of the browser. Select the text you want to modify, specify the words to find and replace and hit the button “Replace.” That’s all there is to do.

Now you know how to find and replace text in Chrome and Firefox. You might also want to learn how to copy text from a blocked site in Chrome. If you want a non-Google controlled version of Chrome, then see how to install Chromium on Windows 10.

How to Change Artboard Size?

Before creating a working document, Illustrator, as a default, asks you to enter an artboard size that matches your work. Kindly refer to the below-attached image.

Methods to Change Artboard Size in Illustrator

The following is a list of methods for changing the size of the artboard in the illustrator discussed in detail:

Method #1 – Manual Resizing using the Artboard Tool

Step 1: You need to open an Illustrator project where you have to change the artboard size. You will notice the originally created artboard on the canvas.

Step 2: Select the ‘artboard tool’ icon from the toolbar panel on the left side of the document. It is a symbol with a ‘+’ sign on top of the page.

You can also select the artboard tool using the shortcut key Shift + O in Windows or Command + O in Mac. This easily activates the tool.

Step 3: You will notice a blue bounding box surrounding the artboard with anchor points. Hover your mouse cursor over any point of the bounding box and drag it manually.

Continue the process until the artboard seems fit for your design.

Step 4: If you have multiple artboards on your workspace, you can select the artboard that you need to resize using the artboard tool. After that, simply follow the above step.

Note: You can also make a clone of an existing artboard using the artboard tool. For doing that, simply select the tool and press Alt (Windows) or Option (Mac) while dragging the selected artboard. This will create an exact duplicate copy of the artboard along with all the design elements. This is helpful to create variations of design with a new color and pattern.

Method #2 – Resize using the Artboard Panel

Step 1: Open the illustrator project; you need to resize the artboard.

Step 2: From the artboard panel on the right side of the document, you will find the list of all the artboards you have used in your project.

Step 3: If the artboard panel is missing in your document, activate it by selecting the ‘Windows’ menu from the top. Next, choose the ‘Artboards’ option from the drop-down list.

Step 4: Choose the artboards you want to resize by holding the shift (Windows) or Command (Mac) key while selecting multiple items.

Step 5: This will open up the dimension values, including size and position on top of the window. You can change the value of the W (width) and H (height) text boxes. This will accordingly change the size of the selected artboards.

After you obtain the required artboard size, you may need to resize or reposition the objects inside each artboard. For that, simply select the objects and transform their size and position.

Method #3 – Resizing using the Artboard Options

Step 1: Open the illustrator project; you need to resize the artboard.

Step 2: Select the artboard you want to resize from the artboard panel.

Step 4: Here, you will find areas to enter the width and height values of the artboard.

You can also change the artboard orientation from portrait and landscape.

Step 5: Press OK after making all the changes.

Method #4 – Resize by Fitting an Artboard to Art

Step 1: Open the illustrator project; you need to resize the artboard.

Step 2: From the Illustrator window at the top in Windows or at the top screen in Mac, select the ‘Object’ menu. Next, a drop-down menu will be opened.

Step 4: Next, you have to select the ‘Fit to Artwork Bounds’ option. Now, your artboard will be seen resized within the artwork.

Bonus Tip: Sometimes, people confuse the artboard with their workspace and might use them interchangeably. The thing to note here is that the workspace or canvas is the entire usable space in Illustrator that houses all the components, including the artboard.

Artboard is the main stage in Adobe Illustrator where graphic artists work and keep their artwork. Often, the users would create an artwork in a particular size and continue the design process. However, eventually, they might need to change the artboard dimensions and properties to suit their work process as they progress. Using the various methods discussed above, you can easily resize your artboard dimensions. Depending on your work nature and situation, choose a method that will best help you.

How To Adjust Brightness On Windows 10

One of the best ways to avoid or reduce eye strain and headaches while using your computer is to have the correct screen brightness.

For many Windows 10 users, using the brightness adjustment keys on their keyboards is a quicker way of manually adjusting the brightness level on their PCs.

Table of Contents

If, for some reason, the keys fail to work as they should, there are other methods you can use to adjust brightness on your Windows 10 PC.

How to Adjust Brightness on Windows 10

You can adjust the levels of brightness on Windows 10 manually or automatically based on surrounding light, battery life, or using a power plan.

How to Manually Adjust Brightness

You can adjust brightness manually from the computer’s display settings, from your keyboard, or using the Windows Mobility Center.

Next, select Display and go to the Brightness and color section.

In the Device Manager window, select and expand the Display adapters category.

If you’re using a second monitor, change the brightness using the buttons on the monitor.

For this guide, we used a Lenovo laptop whose brightness adjustment keys are placed on the top row of the keyboard, next to the Print Screen key.

The Windows Mobility Center is an alternative way to manually adjust brightness on Windows 10.

From the Mobility Center window, use the Display Brightness slider to adjust the brightness to the level that’s comfortable for your eyes.

How to Automatically Adjust Brightness

You can adjust brightness on Windows 10 automatically by enabling the battery saver feature.

Select Battery and then go to Battery Saver Settings.

Next, check the Turn battery saver on automatically if my battery falls below checkbox, and then adjust the percentage battery level using the slider.

Check the Lower screen brightness while in battery saver checkbox as well.

How to Use Adaptive Brightness to Adjust Brightness

Adaptive brightness is a Windows 10 feature that automatically adjusts your display to match the lighting conditions of your surroundings. The feature does this by tapping into the ambient light sensors, and is therefore useful in conserving battery life.

If your device has a brightness sensor, the Change brightness automatically when lighting changes setting will be available, in which case switch it to On.

How to Adjust Brightness on Windows 10 Using Shortcuts

There are adjustment shortcuts you can use to adjust brightness on Windows 10.  One of these shortcuts involve opening the Action Center in the taskbar and adjusting the brightness slider to your preferred level.

To do this, select the Notification icon on the taskbar and then drag the brightness slider to the level you want.

Select Edit your quick actions.

Use Dark Theme

If you find it uncomfortable spending hours in front of your computer because of screen brightness, you can enable the Windows 10 Dark Theme or use Night Light Mode.

Windows 10 Dark Theme is like dark mode and it helps reduce eye strain due to prolonged computer use. You can use the dark theme to display darker tones by customizing your computer’s color scheme, thus making it easier on your eyes.

The dark theme will be applied automatically to apps like Mail, Microsoft Store, Calculator, and settings menus, but you may not get it with all aspects of Windows 10. For non-Microsoft apps, you’ll have to enable dark mode in those apps.

Check out our guides on how to enable dark mode on YouTube, Google apps, or macOS dark mode.

Use Windows 10 Night Light Mode

Night Light is a Windows tool that applies a blue light filter to the display. The tool doesn’t change the brightness of your display, but provides a light-theme display, which also reduces eye strain.

In the Brightness and color section, select Night light settings.

Note: Devices that use Basic Display or DisplayLink drivers lack Night Light mode. Plus, the feature may not apply to all monitors where you have two or more monitors attached to your computer.

Select Turn on now to enable Night Light immediately.

You can also toggle Schedule Night Light to On. This allows you to schedule Night Light to be displayed automatically during a certain time of the day.

You’ll get two options when you schedule Night Light: Sunset to sunrise, which activates night light to automatically fade in and out from sunset to sunrise. This setting depends on your time zone.

Alternatively, select Set hours to set your custom Night Light intervals at your preferred hours. You can also use the Color temperature at night slider to specify the display range of your light.

How To Border Text In Photoshop – Brendan Williams Creative

Adding a border or stroke to text is a great way to make it stand out. Creating a bolder stroke around your text highlights the words to make them pop in your design. The added stroke is also a way to separate your text from the background, especially if the colors are similar. There are various ways you can border text in Photoshop, depending on the effect you want.

Here are my top three ways to add a border around text, including adding a basic color, gradient, or pattern outline, adding several strokes around the text, creating an outline-only text, or adding a box around the text.

3 Ways To Border Text In Photoshop Option 1: Adding A Basic Color, Gradient, Or Pattern Outline

You can fill your text stroke with a basic solid color. But if your project doesn’t call for anything basic, you can go really bold with gradients and patterns.

First, enable the Text Tool (T) in the Toolbar.

Then, enter your text on the canvas, as you usually do.

The Layer Style panel will pop up, and you will find some options to adjust the Stroke in the middle of the panel.

You can change the color of the stroke in the color fill box.

You can also use patterns and gradients to fill the stroke. You can customize each option in many ways.

You can change the Gradient’s angle, scale, and so on.

The options for customizing patterns are also abundant. For example, you can fill your stroke with either a preset pattern or your own saved patterns.

Ultimately, all stroke fill options allow you to create exciting text border effects.

Stroke Filled With Color Stroke Filled With Gradient Stroke Filled With Pattern

After choosing how to fill the border of your text, you need to adjust other Stroke settings so that the border becomes visible and looks the way you want.

Adjust the stroke size by dragging the Size slider to the left or the right.

In the Position drop-down menu, choose between placing the stroke inside, outside, or the center of your text. Remember that positioning the stroke inside or to the center of your text may overshadow the text color.

Adjust the transparency of the stroke using the Opacity slider.

How To Add Multiple Outlines To Your Text

Adding multiple outlines to your text gives it a vibrant look. You can add as many strokes to your text as you want. Here is how to do it.

To add multiple outlines to your text, you must apply another stroke layer to the text. To do this, apply the first stroke to the text, as you learned in the previous section of this tutorial.

An additional stroke section will appear in the Layer Style panel. Change the color of the new stroke in the Fill color box.

Then, drag the Size slider to the right until the new outline becomes visible.

You can check whether the stroke is visible or not in the Preview window on the right side of the Layer Style panel.

Repeat the process to add as many strokes as you want to your text.

Before After

Option 2: Creating Outline-Only Text

Outline-only text is full of style and has a strong visual appeal.

To create an outline-only text, you must apply a border to your text beforehand; otherwise, the effect will not work. Review the first section of this tutorial to learn how to apply a border to your text.

Next, locate Fill Opacity within the blending options.

Then, bring the Fill Opacity down to 0%.

That will make the text transparent, and only its border is visible.

Before After

Option 3: Adding A Rectangular Border Around A Text Layer

Adding a rectangular border around text is a great way to draw attention or isolate it in a layout. To add a rectangular border to your text, draw a rectangle, set its stroke to any color you want, set the fill to transparent, and then position it over the text.

Here is how to do it. First, type the desired text on the canvas.

Then, select the Rectangle Tool (U) from the Toolbar.

Next, set the rectangle Fill to transparent and the Stroke to any color you want.

Then, drag out the rectangle shape over the text. That way, the rectangle covers the text, like a text box.

To adjust the size of the rectangle, push one of its control points outwards or inwards while holding Shift. Holding Shift preserves the proportions of the shape.

You can change the stroke size in the Properties panel on the right side of the workspace.

Once you are happy with the text and the rectangle, you have to ensure the alignment of your elements is correct, so the piece looks balanced.

Lastly, you need to align the rectangle with the text. To do this, select the respective layers while holding Shift.

Afterward, go back to the Options bar and select Align Horizontal Center again.

By the end of the process, Photoshop will perfectly align all elements you created to the center of the canvas.

Now, when you use the Move Tool (V) when either the text or rectangle layer is active, you will move both layers together, keeping them centered.
