How to Find Passwords on a Mac Using Keychain Access

Taking into account all the security threats that you come across when browsing the web, it’s better to use strong and unique passwords for every website you need. Unless you have a perfect memory, memorizing all of them is impossible.

The good news is that Mac has a built-in app called Keychain Access that you can use to see your saved passwords. To find your passwords using the Mac’s Keychain Access, follow the steps below:

Open Finder and select Applications from the sidebar on the left to open the Applications folder.

    Scroll down and select Utilities.

Inside this folder, select Keychain Access to open the app.

You can also find the Keychain Access app on your Mac using the Spotlight search. Find it in the upper-right corner of the screen or use the keyboard shortcut Cmd + Space to open it. Then type in Keychain Access to locate the app.

Once inside the application, select Passwords from the sidebar on the left.

To make your search more efficient, use the search bar in the upper-right corner of the app to type in the name of the application or website that you need the passwords. If there are duplicates, search for the most recent one.

Once you’ve found the password that you need, select it.

In the pop-up window, select Show password.

Keychain Access will prompt you to enter the password that you use when logging into your computer.

You’ll now see the password you need in the Show password line.

How to Find WiFi Passwords on Mac

Not many people know their home WiFi password by heart. So when your friends come over and ask to use your internet, finding your WiFi password may become a quest.

To quickly find your WiFi password on your Mac using Keychain Access, follow the steps below.

You’ll now see your password shown in the app under Show password.

How to Find Passwords Saved in Safari

            Launch Safari on your Mac.

From the browser’s menu, select Preferences.

              Select the Passwords tab.

Enter your user password to unlock your passwords.

You can now see the list of all the websites with the saved usernames and passwords. To reveal a password for a single site, simply select it from the list. You can also use this tab to add and remove websites and your saved credentials.

How to Find Passwords Saved in Chrome

If you prefer using Chrome over Safari, you might also want to find passwords that you saved in the Chrome browser. The passwords that you save in Chrome won’t appear in Keychain Access but you can find them in Chrome instead. To do that, follow the steps below.

                Launch Chrome on your Mac.

From the browser’s menu, select Preferences.

Select Autofill from the sidebar on the left.

                  Select Passwords.

Scroll down until you see the Saved Passwords section.

Find the website that you need to see the password for and select the eye icon next to its name.

Google Chrome will then prompt you to enter the password that you use to log into your computer.

Your password will appear in the table next to the website’s name in the Password column. To hide it again, select the eye icon one more time.

LastPass and Bitwarden are two of the best free password managers out there, both packing in fairly similar features and overall functionality. But that will change soon when LastPass starts to force you to access your passwords either from your PC and mobile app. That has many — including us — look for an alternative, and to no surprise, Bitwarden has come as a first choice app.

Here’s how you can migrate from LastPass to Bitwarden for your password management assistance.

                      Migrate from LastPass to Bitwarden

You can transfer all your passwords from LastPass to Bitwarden easily using the export and import tools provided by LastPass and Bitwarden respectively. It will be a simple two-step process. Exporting LastPass passwords is pretty easy, and the same goes for importing the LastPass passwords to Bitwarden.

You can export the passwords from LastPass by using any of the two methods given below, but for importing them into Bitwarden, you only have one choice — no issues though, as it works wonderfully easy. Let’s check out the guides.

                      Step 1: Export LastPass Passwords

You can export LastPass passwords either through their website or through their extension. You will find the instructions for both methods below.

Method 1: Use LastPass Website to export passwords

If you are using LastPass Web to manage your passwords, follow these steps:

Enter the credentials and log in to your LastPass Account.

LastPass will export all your saved passwords i a CSV file. That’s all. You can now import the CSV file into Bitwarden.

CSV file export not working on LastPass?

If you didn’t get a CSB file, then probably LastPass opened a new tab for you showing you the data saved with it. Well, we gotta take this data and save it into a CSV file that we can use with Bitwarden. The image below shows how you will get the exported data from LastPass if CSV export doesn’t work.

After you have copied the entire data, you are ready to save them. Open the Notepad app on your PC and press Ctrl+V to paste the data in the opened file in Notepad.

Here, you have to make sure the settings are correct:

Filename: It must contain .CSV at the end (example: yourfilename.csv)

                      Save as type: All files

                      Encoding: Set as UTF-8

Method 2: Using LastPass extension to export passwords

If you are not comfortable following the manual process for exporting the files, you can choose to do it using the LastPass extension. It will surely give you a .CSV file directly, avoiding the labor work associated with creating one manually with the raw data we talked about above.

New users will be required to log in, so do so to sign in to your account.

Select LastPass CSV File as the desired file format.

How To Import Your Password To Bitwarden Web

Bitwarden browser extension does not allow you to import passwords, but now worries, you can use their website to import LastPass passwords easily. Here’s how.

Once you have successfully exported the data from LastPass, follow the following steps to import the passwords into your Bitwarden Vault

Note that importing the CSV file from the LastPass or Bitwarden extension is not possible at the moment and you will need to follow the importing guide as mentioned above.

Migrating to a different system that you are used to can seem very challenging, but remember that nothing is more important than your privacy and security. If you are starting to notice the limitations in your password management service, if there is a speck of doubt it is best to move on to better options.

How To Use A Ps5 Controller On Your Mac Or Pc

This tutorial covers using a PS5 controller on your Mac or PC. Before connecting a controller to your computer, turn off the PS5 controller. Press and hold the PlayStation (PS) button until the controller’s indicator light or status light goes off. When that’s done, you can connect the controller to your computer with a USB cable or wirelessly.

                      Table of Contents

                      USB Wired Connection

For a wired USB connection, use the Type-A to Type-C cable included in the PS5 packaging. If you can’t find the included cable, use a third-party USB cable that supports power transfer and data synchronization. Windows or macOS won’t detect your PS5 DualSense controller if you use a “charge only” cable.

All you have to do to get it working is plug the cable’s USB-A connector into your PC and insert the USB-C connector into the DualSense controller’s USB-C port.

Note: Use a USB-C to USB-C cable for PCs and MacBooks without a USB Type-A port. Plug either end of the cable to your Mac or PC and the other end to the controller.

Connect the PS5 DualSense Controller Wirelessly

Remember to turn off or disconnect your controller from other devices before pairing it to your computer. Press and hold the PS button on the controller until the indicator light goes off. That disconnects the controller from other Bluetooth devices and makes it available for pairing to a new device.

Connect a PS5 Controller to a Windows PC

To pair a PS5 DualSense controller to a Windows 10 or Windows 11 computer, follow these steps.

On Windows 11, open your PC’s

                      app (press

                      Windows key

                      ). Select

                      Bluetooth & devices

on the sidebar and then select

                      Add device

                      on the right.

The next step is putting your controller in pairing mode. Press and hold the

                      Playstation button

                      Create button

for about 5 seconds. Release both buttons when the controller’s indicator light blinks twice.

                      On your PC, select

                      Wireless Controller

Wait for your PC to connect to the controller. Select

to close the window when you see a “Your device is ready to go” message.

Your controller should appear as “Connected” in the Bluetooth settings menu. Now you can use the controller in Steam games and other compatible programs.

                      Connect a PS5 Controller to a Mac

                      Press and hold the

                      PS button

                      Create button

on your PS5 controller until the indicator light blinks twice intermittently. That puts the controller in pairing mode.

Your Mac should detect a “DualSense Wireless Controller” in the Bluetooth settings menu. Select the

                      button to proceed.

Unlike Windows, macOS correctly recognizes and labels the PS5 controller as “DualSense Wireless Controller.”

to customize the functionality of some buttons on the DualSense controller.

By default, pressing the Home (PS) button on the controller opens your Mac’s Launchpad.

You can configure macOS to open the floating app switcher when you long-press your controller’s Home (PS) button. To do so, open the “Home Long Press” drop-down menu and select

The “Share” or “Create” button is also customizable. You can start recording your screen or capture “highlights” during gameplay by double-pressing or long-pressing the Share button. Capturing a highlight saves the last 15 seconds of gameplay.

Expand the “Share Double Press” or “Share Long Press” menu and select

                      Start/Stop Recording

                      Capture Highlight

                      Record Screen

                      on the confirmation prompt.

Note: Capturing highlights with the DualSense controller may reduce gameplay speed and performance.

                      to save the customizations.

Set Up and Use PS5 Controller on Your Computer

Your computer and compatible apps should immediately detect a PS5 DualSense controller connected via cable or wirelessly. Depending on the app or PC games you’re playing, you may need to enable app-specific settings.

In Steam, for instance, enabling “PlayStation Configuration Support” allows you to enjoy all features of the DualSense controller.

Connect the controller to your computer and open Steam’s settings.

Head to the “Controller” tab on the left sidebar and select

                      General Controller Settings

Ensure your PlayStation 5 Controller appears in the “Detected Controller” section. Select the

                      PlayStation Configuration Support

checkbox and close the controller settings window.

You should also select the Generic Gamepad Configuration Support checkbox. That could help your PS5 controller work correctly if Steam’s PlayStation Configuration Support malfunctions.

In Remote Play, you’ll see your controller’s battery level in the bottom-right corner of the screen.

If your PS5 controller doesn’t work in a specific game, contact the game developer for support.

PS5 Controller Not Connecting or Working on PC or Mac? Try These Fixes

Your computer may fail to recognize a PS5 Controller for many reasons. The troubleshooting recommendations below should resolve the problem(s).

                      1. Try A Different Port or Cable

If you’re connecting your controller using a cable, ensure it’s the original cable included in the PS5 packaging. If you use a knockoff or counterfeit cable, your computer may not detect the DualSense controller. Use an authentic cable that supports both data synchronization and power transfer.

USB port problems can also prevent PS5 controllers from connecting to your computer. Try a different port on your computer if the controller doesn’t work on a particular port. We also recommend plugging the controller directly into your computer. When using a USB adapter, ensure the accessory supports data synchronization and power transfer.

                      2. Update the Controller

Updating your controller to the latest firmware can fix connectivity and performance issues.

If you’re using a Windows PC, update the PS5 controller using the Firmware updater for DualSense wireless controller app. Install the app on your computer and plug the controller using a cable.

The app will automatically download and install any firmware update available for your controller. Make sure your computer has an internet connection.

                      3. Restart Your Computer

Reboot your computer if your controller’s firmware is up-to-date, but it won’t connect or work when playing compatible games.

                      4. Reset the Controller to Factory Settings

If the problem persists, restore your PS5 DualSense controller’s settings to factory default. Disconnect or unplug the controller from your console or other devices before performing the factory reset. You should also shut down your console.

Locate a tiny circle-shaped hole on the back of the controller. Inside the hole is the DualSense controller’s reset button. Insert a pin or paper clip in the hole and push the reset button for 3-5 seconds.

Turn on the controller, connect it to your computer, and check if it now works without any issue.

Enjoy Console-Like Gaming on Your Computer

Connecting a PS5 DualSense controller to a Windows or Mac computer is easy. Update your computer’s operating system if you still have problems using the controller. Visit a PlayStation Service Repair Center if your DualSense controller won’t connect or work on its console or computer.

How To Run Mac Apps On Linux

macOS and Linux share a common heritage. Unfortunately, that does not mean applications can smoothly transition between the operating systems. To run Mac apps on Linux, you’ll need some sort of virtual machine or translation layer.

Run a macOS Virtual Machine (All Apps)

The most reliable way to run Mac apps on Linux is through a virtual machine. With a free, open-source hypervisor application like VirtualBox, you can run macOS on a virtual device on your Linux machine. A properly-installed virtualized macOS environment will run all macOS apps without issue.

Virtualizing a desktop like this does require significant RAM, so it may not run smoothly on low-resource devices. For machines with the technical specs, virtualizing an operating systems through a VirtualBox virtual machine is the best option.

Using the Darling Translation Layer (CLI Only)

You can also run a translation layer called Darling. This works like WINE, which creates a Windows-to-Linux translation environment that allows you to run some Windows applications on Linux systems. Darling tries to accomplish the same goal between macOS and Linux. Because macOS and Linux both share the same UNIX-style base, Darling is less resource-intensive than WINE, producing better results in more circumstances.

For the time being, Darling can only work with very simple GUI apps and several command-line apps. While GUI app support is a goal for the project, the feature hasn’t yet been implemented. Basically, you can run a macOS shell in Terminal reliably and may or may not be able to run other apps effectively.

It also contains an enormous amount of code, requiring about 12 gigabytes of disk space after building. It’s essentially duplicating the functionality of the macOS operating system. So, if you worry about remote executables corrupting your system, you might want to avoid a package of this size.

                      Building and Installing Darling

                      1. Follow the installation instructions to download the correct dependencies for your Linux distro from the Darling Install page. Depending on your distro, you may need to run a lengthy command.

For example, for Ubuntu, run the following Terminal command to download Darling’s dependencies:

                      apt-get install

                      cmake clang

                      xz-utils libfuse-dev libudev-dev pkg-config libc6-dev:i386 linux-headers-generic gcc-multilib libcap2-bin libcairo2-dev libgl1-mesa-dev libtiff5-dev libfreetype6-dev libfreetype6-dev:i386

                      libelf-dev libxml2-dev libegl1-mesa-dev libfontconfig1-dev libbsd-dev

                      2. Clone Darling’s git depository to your local machine:

                      4. Make and build the darling directory:

                      5. Configure the build with cmake:

                      cmake ..

                      6. Build Darling:

The build process may take longer than one hour, depending on your machine’s resources.

                      7. Install Darling:

                      8. Build Darling’s kernal module darling_mach:

                      9. Install darling_mach:

lkm_install Running macOS Applications on Linux with Darling

To access the darling subsystem, run darling shell. This uses the darling command prefix to launch a macOS shell environment:

                      darling shell

Once inside the darling shell, you can run commands as if you were on a macOS system. All program installation happens within the darling shell. Running the commands without connecting to Darling won’t work.

To attempt to run a macOS program, first download the appropriate files. You’ll want to obtain a .dmg or .pkg on your Linux machine. If you want to run an app from the Mac App Store, copy the .app file to “/Applications/” on your Linux machine then launching it through Darling’s shell commands.

                      Install from DMG

To install a program from a .dmg, mount it with hdiutil within Darling:

hdiutil attach chúng tôi the application to your local storage:

                      Run through Darling:

             Install from PKG

To install a program from pkg, use installer within Darling:

                      chúng tôi

Uniquely to Darling, .pkgs can be uninstalled using the uninstaller companion command.

                      Once installed, run through Darling:

Darling works well with command line programs, but will hopefully eventually support GUI applications.

How To Turn A Website Into A Web App On Mac Running Macos Sonoma

macOS Sonoma has a new feature that lets you turn any website into a Mac app. All you need to do is add the website to your Mac’s Dock, and it turns automatically into a web app. In this tutorial, we’ll tell you everything about web apps on Mac and show you how to get an app-like experience with your favorite websites.

Note: Currently, macOS Sonoma is in the developer beta stage. We have an easy tutorial showing you how to install it on a different partition of your Mac.

If you don’t want to get macOS Sonoma, you can add a website shortcut (not a web app) to your Mac’s Dock running an older version of macOS.

About web apps on iPhone and Mac

If you recall, progressive web apps (PWA) have existed on iPhones for many years now. To install it on your iPhone, all you need to do is visit that website in Safari, tap the share button, and add it to your Home Screen. After that, when you tap the website icon on your iPhone Home Screen, it opens as a web app, and you can see it as an app tile in the App Switcher.

However, if the website owner/developer has not designed it to work as a web app, tapping its icon on iPhone Home Screen will simply open that site in Safari.

In other words, web apps on iPhone and iPad need the website’s developer support.

But this is better and more streamlined on Mac running macOS Sonoma. Here, you can turn any website into a web app, even if it doesn’t natively support being a web app.

For example, if you add iDownloadBlog’s website to your iPhone Home Screen and tap it, it will open in Safari because we don’t natively have web app support (as we already have an iOS app). However, you can easily turn iDownloadBlog into a web app on your Mac, as it requires no support from the site developer.

How to add a website as a web app on your Mac

                      1) Open Safari and visit the website you want to turn into a web app.

This website is now added as a web app to your Mac, and you will find its app icon (website icon/favicon) in your Mac’s Dock and the Launchpad.

Note: From now, when you visit a website in Safari whose web app exists, you will see a banner on the top giving you the choice to open the web page in the web app.

Using a web app on your Mac

                      2) You can browse this website as you normally do. The back and forward buttons allow you to navigate between pages. You can also use the standard two-finger left and right swipes on the trackpad to go to the next and previous page.

Opening internal links in web apps

Suppose you turn iDownloadBlog into a web app on your Mac running macOS Sonoma:

Opening external links in web apps Change the icon, name, and other settings of a web app

                      1) Open the web app on your Mac running macOS Sonoma.

                      3) You can change the Application Name and the web app Icon.

                      4) If you uncheck “Show navigation controls,” it will remove the back, forward, and browser icons from the top of the web app window.

                      5) Unchecking “Show color in title bar” will stop using the website’s color scheme in the top title bar of the web app window.

                      6) And finally, you can go to the Privacy section to clear this web app’s website data and manage its permissions related to microphone, camera, location, etc.

Advantages of using web apps on Mac

                      1) Web apps are an easier way to have quick links for your favorite or most visited websites in your Dock and Launchpad.

                      3) Turning a website into an app gives you better window management without affecting all existing open websites of your browser. For example, you can easily resize the web app window, put it into split screen, or move it to your other connected display. And this won’t affect other websites you have open in Safari, Chrome, or Firefox.

                      4) Web apps can send notifications and access privacy features like microphone, location, camera, etc., as a native app. You can manage them in Mac’s System Settings as you do for other apps. By the way, the same website can also do all these inside Safari or Chrome.

A few things you may not like while using web apps on Mac

                      1) Auto-opening of external links in the default web browser and not inside that web app window can get annoying.

                      2) In Safari and other web browsers, you can see the full URL when you place the cursor over an in-page link. But web apps lack this handy feature.

                      4) Having even a few web app icons on your Dock can make it crowded.

Finder folder where web apps are saved

Though macOS Sonoma web apps appear in your Mac’s Dock and Launchpad, you won’t find them in the usual Applications folder (/Applications/). So, here’s how to see the folder where your web apps are saved:

                      1) Open Finder.

                      3) Enter ~/Applications/ and hit the return key to see all your web apps in one spot.

Delete a web app from your Mac

You can go to the ~/Applications/ folder and delete the web app from there. Additionally, the usual methods to uninstall standard macOS apps also work to delete web apps. For example, you can go to Launchpad, hold the Option key, and hit the X icon to delete a web app.

Does removing a web app from the Dock uninstall it?

No. If you don’t want a web app icon to take up space on your Mac’s Dock, you can drag it out to remove it. Doing so will not uninstall the web app, and you continue to see it in the Launchpad and the ~/Applications/ folder.
