Suggested March 2024 How To Fix A Broken Tv Screen?

If you see horizontal and vertical lines running through your screen, it is a sign that you have a broken TV screen. Fixing a broken TV is a sophisticated job and may cost you some bucks.

So, if you are not technically sound, we recommend you consult the TV technician and get it fixed. Otherwise, we have prepared this article with some helpful methods to fix a broken TV screen.

The possibility of fixing the broken TV screen depends upon the severity of the damage. The DIY (Do It Yourself) method can somehow fix minor scratches and dead pixels. However, it does not guarantee that it will get your TV screen back.

Warning: Before fixing a TV screen, please check if you are still on a warranty period. If you tend to repair the TV while still on warranty, it may void the agreement, and you may run into a problem.

If you just dealing with a horizontal lines issues on your TV screen and not a broken screen, you can read this comprehensive article to fix it.

If the cracks on your TV screen do not affect your viewing experience and you are comfortable with it, you don’t need to replace the entire screen.

If you have a screen with the following types of damages, we recommend you to stay away from DIY fixes as it could do more damage.

Hairline cracks can be somewhat fixed with the DIY method, but spiderweb cracks may be complex to repair if the damage has been done to the internal parts as well.

To see if the crack is fixable, take a mushy cloth and run it on top of the crack. If you sense some sort of roughness in the screen, it is likely not fixable by yourself. Make sure you don’t use your bare hands to run over the crack. Else, you might end up hurting.

The first DIY fix is to use the eraser at the back of your pencil. Many users reported that they could fix the hairline cracks by gently rubbing the eraser over the cracked area. If you don’t have one, buy a new pencil eraser. Do not use the eraser out of your kid’s geometry box if you want better results.

Turn your TV on while doing this method as you need to see the improvements. Also, don’t forget to be gentle. If you press hard on your screen, it might further get damaged. If you see improvement in the crack, you may continue the rubbing till the crack disappears.

You can also purchase a crack repair spray or a scratch remover from the nearby store and use it in the affected area. It costs only around $15 to $20 for you. You can save hundreds of dollars if it works.

If you see some black spots on your screen, the pixels of that area are probably damaged. If you have spots covering a large area of the screen, it is almost non-repairable. However, small spots may be repaired by a DIY method.

You can take an earbud and rub over the dead pixels for a few minutes to see if it fixes the issue. Please make sure you are gentle with it.

Before fixing a broken TV screen, you should know about the fundamental circuit boards attached to your TV chassis. Depending upon your TV model and manufacturer, the position of the circuit boards may vary, but they have things in common. Some of the components in your LCD / LED TV are the Power Supply Unit, Main Board, Backlight Inverter, and T-Con Board.

Since we are discussing the screen, let’s learn about the TV parts in terms of display:

T-Con board, also called the Timing Controller board, is a display component on your TV that connects the display panel with the main board of the TV. It generates signals for the row and column elements of your TV screen. If your T-Con board is damaged, you see greyscales on your screen or some kind of regular pattern.

The T-Con board normally lies at the lower end of the screen. If your TV is broken from the lower side, the T-Con board may also be damaged.

LVDS cable connects the T-Con board with the main board of your TV. The even and odd signals from the board pass to the T-Con board via the LVDS cable, and you see graphics on your screen. LVDS cable is too fragile, so you must deal with it with care during the repair process.

The ribbon cable runs through the T-Con board to the display panel of your screen. They are normally flat in shape, shielded with tapes. They are flexible and, at the same time, easily get damaged. Depending upon the severity of your TV screen damage, you may also need to replace the ribbon cable.

But most of the modern TV screens come with a T-Con board attached to the display panel, not requiring you to change the Ribbon cable.

The display panel is the outermost part of your TV and the first thing to get damaged when anything comes in contact with the screen. You may have an LCD or LED display panel on your TV screen.

The components we discussed, like T-Con and LVDS, may or may not require a replacement, but when the display panel is broken, there is no option except to replace it.

As we already suggested, replacing a TV screen is quite a complex and sophisticated process; you may end up further damaging your TV components trying to replace it. But if you have one and want to replace it yourself, we have provided the steps to replace a TV screen below.

Here, we are replacing the broken LCD screen of a Samsung TV for elucidation:

Since prevention is better than cure, there are certain workarounds you can apply to protect your TV screen from breaking. They not only prevent your TV screen from disaster but also potentially safeguards you from costing hundreds of dollars. Let’s discuss some of the measures:

The first preventive measure you can apply is not allowing anyone to touch your TV. Pets are the main reason for breaking your TV screen most of the time. If you keep a dog or cat at your home, limit them from coming around the TV. Don’t allow them to go near your TV if they have to. Consider trimming their nails as well since they are responsible for causing scratches.

Similarly, if you have kids, they tend to run around and play in the TV room. They may accidentally hit the TV screen with a ball or other toys and get damaged. Please prevent your kids from playing in the TV room.

TV screens mostly break when it is placed on a table-top. Minor shocks or bumps might get off your TV from the table, and you might damage the screen. Or, if you have a narrow room, you may stumble with your TV table while walking or shifting things and hurt your TV.

You can mount your TV on the wall to prevent this from happening. Mounting efficiently protects your TV from those kicks and bumps.

Using a TV screen guard is the best option if you think other preventive measures are hard to apply. You can purchase anti-shock and anti-breaking screen protectors and install them on your TV.

Screen protectors work as a barrier and prevent anything from hitting the screen. Additionally, they are also waterproof and help your TV protect from the spill of any liquids. If you have a cupboard with a TV casing or a cabinet, please place the TV in it for safety.

Many insurance companies nowadays provide the facility of TV insurance under home insurance schemes. Depending upon your TV models and price, they offer you insurance on an installment basis. In case you get your TV broken and need a repair, it will help you save money.

Your TV is almost useless if your damage the screen. Replacing a TV screen almost costs as much as buying a new one. However, if you have knowledge of hardware, you may unscrew the TV and use the Power Supply Unit (PSU), backlight Inverter, and audio components like speakers.

Dismantling the TV requires some expertise, so it would be better to sell your broken TV to the recycling or a refurbishing center. You can get a good amount if you only have minor cracks and dead pixels and want to sell it. But if the damage is extreme, even the refurbish center may not purchase your TV.

If your TV is damaged such that you can not repair it, or say if the repair center technician suggests you buy a new one instead of repairing it, you need to dispose of it properly.

Since the TVs contain chemicals like lead and mercury, you should not dispose of them directly in your backyard or dumping site. There are many recycling centers around that take care of e-wastes. Consider taking your TV there.

Moreover, instead of throwing your TV in the garbage, you can ask the repair center if they can buy your damaged TV. They can take out the components like the T-con board, power supply, or audio components and use them in other TVs.

You can get a few bucks for your old TV that can help you buy a new TV to some extent. You can even use eBay or Facebook marketplace to sell it. Some people buy used and damaged TVs for refurbishing; maybe you will find a person to buy them.

If you are curious, how much does your broken TV screen repair cost, it depends upon several factors. Costs vary depending upon the size of your TV screen and whether it needs to be replaced or can be repaired. Moreover, if other TV parts along with the TV screen are damaged, it may cost you more.

According to research, repairing an LCD or LED TV costs anywhere between $50 to $200 in case the damage is not severe. However, it can cost you a bit more if you have an OLED or a 4K TV.

How To Use Chroot In Linux And Fix Your Broken System

Chroot is a Linux/Unix utility that can change or modify the root filesystem. With the help of the chroot command, you can easily create an isolated filesystem inside your primary filesystem. Chroot is especially helpful to make your work and home environment separated or if you want a test environment to test software in isolation.

Difference Between Chroot and Virtual Machine

At first glance, you can think of chroot as similar to a virtual machine or a containerized system like docker. It is kind of similar, but chroot is a much lighter solution than a virtual machine. The virtual machine needs a hypervisor to install and work on a separate kernel, which is different from the host machine. Unlike a virtual machine, chroot shares the same kernel and processes but creates a jail in the filesystem. Inside the jail, it is not possible to look outside without root permission. Therefore, the isolated filesystem is also called chroot jail.

Different Use Cases of Chroot

Isolated build environment in CI/CD pipeline: Chroot is used to create an isolated build environment for applications in CI/CD pipeline. This helps to build your application with unique dependencies and is completely isolated from all other build environments to remove potential conflicts.

Separate development and testing environment: Often, software that works on the developer machine doesn’t work on the end-user device. This is because the developer has a lot of tools and dependencies installed in his system. Normal people don’t have all those dependencies installed on their machines. To test the software, if it will run on all devices, the developer or tester can easily make a plain vanilla environment using chroot to test their software.

Reduce risk for the developer: As a developer, we often make some programs that interact with our system files without any proper sandboxing. Therefore, if we make a mistake, our software can easily wipe our important data from our device. To reduce such type of risk, the developer often uses chroot to create a new working environment to reduce their risk of losing data.

A different version of the same software: Sometimes you need to install some very old or very recent version of a software or dependency for development purposes. But using such a conflicting dependency can mess up your system. This situation can be easily overcome by using chroot jail.

Fix a broken system: If you have a broken system, you can easily repair it with the help of chroot. Just boot a live Linux environment in the device and mount the filesystem. Using this mount point, you can run different commands to fix your issue. This is discussed further later in this tutorial.

Safely running an FTP server: FTP stands for file transfer protocol. Running an FTP server gives you the control to share only those files that you wanted. Therefore, no remote peer can see your host file system and access them.

Creating a Chroot Environment

This is a quick guide on creating a chroot environment in your system. You can get in-depth information on the arch wiki.

To make a chroot environment, create a new directory inside your home folder. Inside this folder, our isolated filesystem will be present in the future. In this tutorial, I named the folder “mte.”

mkdir

~

/

mte

We are creating a very minimal Linux environment. We install bash as a shell inside the chroot environment and install ls, rm, and touch to list, remove and create files respectively. Let’s create required directories inside our “mte” directory.

cd

~

/

mte

mkdir

bin

mkdir

lib

mkdir

lib64

Copy the required binaries from the regular “/bin” directory to the “~/mte” chroot environment.

cp

/

bin

/

bash

~

/

mte

/

bin

cp

/

bin

/

touch

~

/

mte

/

bin

cp

/

bin

/

ls

~

/

mte

/

bin

cp

/

bin

/

rm

~

/

mte

/

bin

Copying the binaries is not enough. We also have to copy their dependencies to the “mte” folder. To know the required dependencies, we use the ldd command. If you want to know the dependency of bash, then run:

ldd

/

bin

/

bash

We get the following output from the above command.

Listing those dependencies and copying them one by one will be painstakingly slow and boring. Therefore, to automate this process, we are using a bash script. Create a file named “copydependancy.sh” and write these shell commands inside it.

#Setting the chroot directory

mte

=

"~/mte"

# enter your binary name

echo

-e

"Please enter your binary name

n

"

#Reading from terminal input

read

binaryname

# Listing all the dependencies

# Looping through the dependency list

for

i

in

$list

;

do

cp

-v

--parents

"

$i

"

"

${mte}

"

;

done

Let’s examine what this script does. At first, this shell script asks for the binary name, then it takes this binary name and finds all the dependency of that binary and saves it inside a list variable. It next runs a for-loop which runs on every item of the list and copies the dependency from our normal “/bin” file to our “mte” chroot directory.

Save this script somewhere else and refer to it when you create a new chroot environment.

Next, change the permission of the script and run it inside the terminal.

chmod

+x chúng tôi start="6">

As all the dependencies are installed in our system, let’s activate our chroot environment. The standard chroot command looks like this:

chroot

[

-OPTION

]

[

PATH FOR NEW ROOT

]

[

PATH FOR SERVER

]

But to fulfill our purpose, we run the following command to activate our chroot environment.

sudo

chroot

~

/

mte

/

bin

/

bash

The above command activates a chroot environment in the “~/mte” directory and specifies to run a bash shell. You can see a change in your terminal prompt and can now use the touch, rm, and ls commands to create, remove and list files respectively.

To exit the chroot environment, run the exit command.

If you want to remove the chroot environment completely, delete the “mte” directory from your filesystem.

rm

-rf

~

/

mte Fix a Broken Bootloader Using Chroot

The most fascinating thing about chroot is that you can enter a broken system and run a command inside it. Therefore, using chroot, you can easily install a critical update to fix a system or reinstall the entire bootloader to fix the issue.

But for that, you should have a live Linux environment. Make a bootable USB by downloading a Linux ISO and booting from the USB. It gives you a live environment to work with. Mount your system partition to work with chroot.

sudo

mount

-t

ext4

/

dev

/

sda

/

mnt

Change the “/dev/sda” with your intended system partition name that you want to work with and let the grub bootloader find the information that it needs to fix the bootloader issue.

sudo

mount

--bind

/

dev

dev

&&

sudo

mount

--bind

&&

sudo

mount

--bind

/

proc

/

mnt

/

proc

&&

sudo

mount

--bind

/

sys

/

mnt

/

sys

Let’s chroot into the “/mnt” directory and enter the broken system.

sudo

chroot

/

mnt

Install, check, and update the grub bootloader in your system. Make sure to use the proper drive name, and don’t copy-paste these commands blindly.

grub-install

/

dev

/

sda grub-install

--recheck

/

dev

/

sda update-grub

Exit the shell using the exit command mentioned earlier. Unbind the previously bound directories and unmount the filesystem. Run those commands one after another consecutively.

sudo

umount

/

mnt

/

sys

&&

sudo

umount

/

mnt

/

proc

&&

sudo

umount

/

mnt

/

dev

/

pts

&&

sudo

umount

/

mnt

/

dev

&&

sudo

umount

/

mnt

Reboot your PC and unplug the live USB. When the computer boots up, your grub bootloader will shine as new, and everything should work perfectly fine.

Frequently Asked Questions Is Chroot Secure?

Chroot doesn’t imply security. It was never intended to become one. For security, you can use SELinux. If you put someone inside a chroot directory, they don’t have access to the root filesystem, but it doesn’t mean that it makes your system unbreakable. Chroot doesn’t also mean less security – it just represents an equal amount of security as your main system. Nothing more and nothing less.

What are the limitations of Chroot systems?

A Chroot system is not meant to protect against intentional tampering by the root user. In some systems, chrooted programs can get sufficient privilege to create their own chroot environment and break out from the chroot jail. Chroot doesn’t mean complete isolation. You can usually do whatever you want to do in userspace. You can access hardware devices and mount and read anything, provided you don’t have to install any other program, then you will need the root privilege that you don’t have.

Why is Chroot called jail?

Chroot is called jail, as it seems like you’re inside an isolated environment. You can do whatever you want inside this jail but can’t leave without the permission of the root user. Also, you have a limited supply of utility provisioned by the root user and can’t install anything yourself. For all of those restrictions, it is called chroot jail.

How To Fix Iphone Touch Screen Not Working

Sometimes your iPhone touch screen may just stop working for no apparent reason. If the screen has gone completely unresponsive and it’s due to physical damage, then you’ll need to bring it to an Apple center to fix it.

However, if the issue only occurs occasionally, there may be something wrong with either the software on your phone or the accessories you’re using. Modifying certain options on your iPhone could fix the issue. In this article, we’ll show how to do this.

Table of Contents

Reboot Your iPhone

Many times the iPhone touch screen may not be working because there’s a minor software glitch on the device. Turning your device off and then back on might fix the issue.

Reboot An iPhone X Or 11

Press and hold down either the Volume button or the Side button.

Drag the slider to turn off your iPhone.

Press and hold down the Side button to turn on your iPhone.

Reboot An iPhone 6, 7, 8, SE (Second Generation)

Press and hold down the Side button.

Drag the slider to power off your phone.

Press and hold down the Side button to turn your phone back on.

Reboot An iPhone SE (First Generation), 5, Or Earlier

Press and hold down the Top button.

Drag the slider.

Press and hold down the Top button to turn your iPhone back on.

Hard Reboot Your iPhone

Hard rebooting force restarts your device when the normal reboot doesn’t work. It doesn’t delete anything on your device and reboots your phone regardless of what state it’s in.

Force Reboot An iPhone 8 Or Later

Press Volume Up and quickly let it go.

Press Volume Down and quickly let it go.

Press and hold down the Top button.

Force Reboot An iPhone 7 & 7 Plus

Press and hold down both Volume Down and Side buttons at the same time.

Force Reboot An iPhone 6S Or Earlier

Press and hold down both Home and Side buttons at the same time.

Clean Your iPhone Screen

Another possible reason your iPhone touch screen may not work is that it has collected some dust on it. If you don’t clean your phone’s screen regularly, it’ll eventually collect dust and this dust becomes sticky if any sticky liquid is poured on it.

Get a clean cloth and gently wipe your iPhone’s screen. You may use a wet cloth if the screen is too sticky. If available, use a high-quality screen cleaner liquid that’s meant to clean phone and laptop screens.

Remove The Screen Protector

Screen protectors are meant to protect your phone’s screen but some of those aren’t of high quality and may cause issues with your taps. If your iPhone touch screen has stopped working after you applied a screen protector, this protector might be the culprit.

Take the screen protector off your iPhone and see if the touch screen works. If it does, you should buy a high-quality screen protector so it doesn’t make your screen unresponsive.

Reinstall The App That May Be Causing The Issue

If your iPhone touch screen only becomes unresponsive while you’re using certain apps, there may be an issue with those apps. Uninstalling and reinstalling those apps might fix the issue for you.

In case the problem persists even after reinstalling the problematic app, then there’s a good chance the app has a core issue in it. In that case, you should avoid using the app and preferably remove it from your phone until a fixed version is available.

Press and hold down on your problematic app and tap on the X icon on it.

You’ll get a prompt asking if you want to delete the app. Tap on Delete and the app will be uninstalled from your iPhone.

Launch the App Store, search for your app, and install it on your phone.

Delete Unwanted Files & Make Some Space

Your iPhone requires some free memory space to run its operations. If you’re running out of memory space on your phone, you’ll need to get rid of some unwanted content to free-up memory.

Launch the Settings app on your iPhone and tap on General.

Tap on iPhone Storage on the following screen.

You’ll see what’s occupying what amount of memory space. This should help you decide what you want to remove from your phone to gain some memory space.

Update The Operating System On Your iPhone

Your iPhone’s operating system should always be up to date. Many issues including the ones related to your touch screen are usually fixed in newer iOS versions. If an update is available for your iPhone, you should install it right away.

Launch the Settings app and tap on General.

Tap on Software Update on the screen that follows.

If an update is available, your iPhone will ask you to download and install it.

Change Touch Screen Options In Settings

Apple has included a few options in the Settings to let you change how your iPhone responds to your taps. You can try changing these settings and see if they fix the unresponsive touch screen on your device.

Open the Settings app and tap on General.

Tap on Accessibility on the following screen.

Select the Touch Accommodations option.

Enable the Touch Accommodations option at the top.

Change other options as you’d like.

Reset All Settings On Your iPhone

Lastly, if nothing works, you can try resetting all settings on your iPhone. This’ll bring all of the current settings on your iPhone to the factory defaults. You can always reconfigure them later if you want.

Access the Settings app and tap on General.

Scroll down and tap on the Reset option.

You’ll see an option that says Reset All Settings. Tap on it.

It’ll ask you to enter your passcode. Enter it and continue.

How To Fix Windows 11 Stuck On The Lock Screen Or Welcome Screen.

If you have updated to Windows 11 and occasionally have problems with Windows 11 getting stuck at the Lock Screen or Welcome Screen. This article will guide you through several different troubleshooting steps you can take to resolve the problem. As this isn’t an entirely new issue, you’ll probably find some of the fixes familiar.

Related: How to fix Windows 11 Insider build error APC_INDEX_MISMATCH (Green screen of death)

It has been a while since we’ve seen lock screen and welcome screen issues on Windows, however, it seems that we’ve come full circle. You may remember back when Windows 10 was first released these kinds of issues were quite common and were relatively easy to fix. This time around, on Windows 11, they appear as follows.

Occasionally when you turn on your computer it will boot to the login screen, then freezes, preventing you from entering your password/pin. Even if you have configured your Windows 11 computer to boot straight to Windows without a password, it may get stuck at the lock screen phase. Thankfully there are quite a few different troubleshooting steps you can run through to solve this problem so follow along as we get straight into them.

How do you fix Windows 11 stuck at the Lock Screen, Welcome Screen before login?

Before you start the more in-depth solutions shown below, make sure you have done the following:

A full virus/malware scan on your computer

Checked for any Windows 11 updates.

Updated your computer’s BIOS.

Once you have checked all of those, proceed.

Use the System Restore tool to revert back to an earlier time.

To revert back to an earlier system checkpoint do the following:

Open the Start menu and search Recovery. When the option appears select it.

When picking a Restore Point to use, I usually go back at least 2 weeks or to the last major update.

Run the SFC Command to fix and restore any issues.

This is standard procedure for any repair task on Windows. I’ve had to use this quite a few times over the years with a lot of success. Just be aware if you are using a custom theme (Deviant Art kinda stuff) This will require you to reinstall your theme again.

To start, press Windows Key + X and open Command Prompt (as administrator).

In the Command Prompt window type sfc /scannow, then press Enter. Now, wait for the process to finish. (it may take a while)

If your computer is in full working order, without any corrupt or missing system files, the scan will show the message: Windows Resource Protection did not find any integrity violations.

Note: If sfc doesn’t find any errors proceed to the next solution, skipping the 3 dot points below.

If there are problems the message will be: Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files but was unable to fix some of them. If this is the message you receive, continue with the next bullet point.

Boot your computer into safe mode. If you are running Windows 7 or older, restart your computer and continuously press F8. The Advanced boot will display when it boots. Select Safe Mode with Command prompt and press Enter. If you are using Windows 8 or 10 you will need to use a different method which can be found here: Advanced Startup options for Windows 8 and 10.

Once you are booted into Safe Mode, open Command Prompt as admin again and run the sfc /scannow command another time. This will repair corrupted Windows system files.

Once the commands are complete, Windows 11 shouldn’t have any more lock screen issues.

Run the DISM command to fix Windows 11 Lock Screen freezing.

If none of the above has worked so far, you can try running the DISM command to fix Windows 11 lock screen freezing.

Open Command Prompt (as administrator).

Type DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth into the window and press Enter.

Wait for it to run as it takes some time.

Once it’s finished Restart your computer.

Run the chkdsk Command to fix Windows 11 Lock Screen freezing.

The check disk command on Windows 11 will check for errors and automatically fix them. To run the tool copy and paste the following command into Command Prompt (as administrator).

chkdsk /f C:

Rollback to an earlier version of Windows 11. Uninstall Windows Update.

To go back to an older version of Windows 11 you’ll need to do the following. Sadly this can only be done within 10 days of the last update. If it has been more than 10 days, the Go back option will be greyed out.

From my experience using this tool over the years, it will generally take longer to roll back than it initially took to update in the first place. So make sure you don’t need to be using your computer for at least an hour, two at the longest.

How To Wirelessly Stream Your Mac To A Tv

As more and more people turn to streaming, computers and televisions have found equal footing as an entertainment source. No matter how you slice it, watching on a big screen will likely continue to be the best viewing experience for the foreseeable future.

Even as smart TVs become a home staple, there’s still something to be said about streaming from your computer to your television. For Mac users who wish to connect to a larger screen, it’s not as straightforward as it should be. However, it’s not impossible either, as a wireless connection between both devices is easily accomplished.

AirPlay

The most popular and best option for wirelessly streaming a Mac computer to a television is unquestionably AirPlay. Apple’s wireless display standard, AirPlay, enables streaming from any Apple device, including computers and iOS devices, directly to a television. First and foremost, you need to make sure you have a compatible computer. That includes any:

iMac Pro after 2023

Mac mini after 2011

MacBook after 2024

MacBook Air after 2011

MacBook Pro after 2011

Mac Pro after 2013

Additionally, you’ll need to have a compatible Apple TV unit (starting at $149):

Apple TV 2 (2010)

Apple TV 3 (2012)

Apple TV 4 (2024)

Apple TV 4K (2024)

If you don’t have an Apple TV, you’ll need a compatible TV unit with AirPlay 2 built in. There’s already a bevy of choices on the market manufactured by Samsung, LG, Sony and Vizio. You can see the full list on Apple’s website. Regardless of which hardware you choose, connecting via AirPlay is accomplished in just a few steps. Of course, you need to remember to have the most current software on your Mac for the latest compatibility.

1. Connect your Mac computer to the same Wi-Fi network as your Apple TV or AirPlay 2-enabled television. You might be prompted to enter a password when first connecting so make sure you have that handy.

3. On your Mac, open the app or video that you’d like to stream to the television and play.

5. As an added bonus, you can also use the television as a separate display so you can stream on the TV while still working on your Mac. You can do this by selecting “use as a separate display” on the AirPlay drop-down menu on the Mac.

Third-Party Options

There’s no question Apple’s built-in support is the best technology for wirelessly streaming a Mac to a television. However, it’s not the only option. Enter third-party tools like AirBeamTV. Both apps achieve the same goal as AirPlay, wirelessly connecting a Mac to a television. To see the best performance with apps, you’ll need to be sure that your home network speeds can remain stable.

So how does it work? AirBeamTV is available as an app download for both iOS and macOS and works similarly to Chromecast or Roku. Basically, AirBeamTV records the screen on your Mac and “beams” that video to your television as long as you’re connected to the same Wi-Fi network.

For television owners who don’t have AirPlay 2-compatible televisions, this is a fantastic and significantly less expensive option. Compatible with a number of television brands from 2012 and later, AirBeamTV is an inexpensive solution that sets up within minutes.

Conclusion

Even as third-party apps might be less expensive, there’s no question that the best method to wirelessly stream macOS to your television is AirPlay. It’s as seamless as it gets, thanks to Apple’s dedication to a simplified and dummy-proof experience. Have you tried AirPlay before?
