Suggested March 2024 How To Organize Spotify Podcasts In Playlists

Recently, Spotify has enabled users to combine music and podcasts into the same playlist. This means that you can now create your own podcast block! Simply add a podcast track, some songs in between as palate cleansers, and sandwich the songs with another podcast episode. This format really comes in handy for creating road trip soundtracks, having something to listen to while tackling projects around the house, or just for a nice solitary listening session.

If you are already a part of the podcast craze, then you probably have a ton saved to your Spotify just waiting to be properly placed into a playlist. For their sake and your sanity, let’s learn how to organize your Spotify podcasts in playlists.

Creating Podcast Playlists Mobile Device

First, “follow” the podcast you’d like to include in your playlist.

Tap the podcast you need to access.

Next to the podcast episode you’d like to add, there will be three dots. Tap the dots to bring up menu options.

Scroll down the menu until you see the “Add to Playlist” option.

If you already have a playlist you want to add the track to, tap the name.

You can also make a new playlist with the track. Tap the green button that says “Create Playlist.”

After creating your playlist, give it a name and tap “create.”

Once you have added your podcast content to your desired playlist, you can go ahead and rearrange the tracks as needed.

Rearrange Podcast Tracks in Playlist

Unlike the desktop app, rearranging tracks on your mobile device takes a few more steps.

iOS Spotify App

Open the playlist you need to rearrange.

From the top of the screen, drag out the playlist window to access the search bar.

Tap “Filters” next to the search bar and select “Custom Order.”

You will be taken back to the playlist screen.

In the upper right hand corner of the screen, tap the three dots and select “Edit”.

Drag the tracks and drop them into whatever order you want!

Be sure to press “done” when you are finished.

*Remember that every new song you add will be automatically added to the top of the playlist.

Android Spotify App

It took a while, but Spotify finally made it possible for Android users to rearrange their songs two years ago.

Select the playlist you wish to edit.

Tap the three dots in the right corner of the screen and select “Edit Playlist”.

You can now drag and drop songs where you need them to go.

Deleting Podcast Episodes from Playlists

Added the wrong podcast episode to your playlist? No problem! Part of organization is getting rid of things that don’t belong.

Go into the desired playlist and scroll down until you find the episode you’d like to delete.

Menu options will appear. Scroll until you see “Remove from this playlist.”

Tap this option to delete.

A Note on Transferring Podcast Episodes from Existing Playlists

Moving podcast episodes from one playlist to another doesn’t remove it from its current playlist. You have to first add the episode to the new playlist and then remove the track from the current one. It might feel tedious, but it is certainly possible to do.

Conclusion

We all start with high expectations of playlist perfection when we sign on to Spotify, but sometimes our playlists fall by the wayside. With the ability to now add podcasts, however, perhaps we should see organizing our playlists as more of a self-care routine as opposed to a task. Podcasts have offered many people comfort, entertainment, and education. Why should we keep our favorite podcasts hidden in a list of virtual clutter?

Have fun customizing your podcast blocks!

Data Modeling Techniques To Organize Dax Measures

As you progress in Power BI, you will gradually be working with more DAX measures and calculations, and things can easily get cluttered. For today’s tutorial, I will share a few data modeling techniques on how to organize your DAX measures better for a more efficient workflow. You can watch the full video of this tutorial at the bottom of this blog.

Typically a lot of people will take their measures and put that on their Fact or Sales table. Instead, we’re going to organize the measures into a new dedicated DAX table or folder that is going to sit at the top of our Fields list.

To do that, we’re going to go Enter Data under the Home ribbon. We’re going to leave this completely empty and the only thing we’re going to do is name this as DAX for the table name and select Load.

And now, I’m going to go to my Sales table and select all my measures here. I’m using the shift key and highlighting these to select them. Then, I’m going to drag them into the DAX folder that we just created.

And now, you can see all the Sales measures inside the DAX folder.

Moreover, we can create more folders to organize this better, so let’s go ahead and do that. As you can see, all my Base amounts include my Budget, my Forecast, and my Sales. Those are like the core calculations. We can have them in a Display folder. I’m going to call this folder, Base for Base calculations, and select Enter. Notice that that created a folder for Base that is in this hierarchy structure as well.

So we now have our DAX folder with our measures, which has a sub-folder with other measures. Likewise, I’m going to do the same to my Variances. I’ll select all these Variances, and I’m going to add this to a Display folder of Variances. And now, we have a Base and a Variances folder within our DAX folder.

Another trick for this as well is if you have measures in the same level inside of this measure folder, you want to ensure that these folders are always kept at the top. To do that, you can add a punctuation mark, such as a period at the very beginning of the folder title. This will ensure that the folder remains at the top of the list because the folders are sorted alphanumerically.

Now, if you want to do a sub folder within the sub folder, just add a backslash to the folder title, and then let’s name the sub folder. In this case, let’s call it Sub Folder. You can now see that inside of Variances, there’s a sub folder. You can also drag and drop them to any of the folders created after you’ve done that.

Finally, there’s one other really cool trick that I want to share with you. If I wanted to put this Actual Amount Variance to Budget (VTB) measure in one or multiple folders, I’ll just add a semicolon to the folder title. Notice that it is now in two different folders.

Now, observe what happens with a new visual on the page. If I had a single value card visual here, as an example, I’m going to drag the measure from Budget. Notice that it added it from both folders. So, technically there is only one measure, but you can see the changes added for both locations.

In this blog tutorial, I’ve shared with you some of my data modeling techniques to organize your DAX measures better. You can add a period at the beginning of the folder title if you want a folder to be at the top of the list. An additional backslash allows you to put your measures into a sub folder, while a semi-colon allows you to put them into multiple locations.

Hopefully, you’ve found these tips useful, and you’ve seen now how to create a root folder itself that is located at the top of your Field’s list, as far as that DAX folder grows. You can also put the DAX measures inside of that folder in a sub folder as well for better organization.

All the best!

How To Convert A Spotify Playlist To An Apple Music Playlist

Spotify might be one of the first streaming services to hit the market, but it’s no longer the only option for consumers. Apple Music has been building a significant user base since it first launched in 2024, and it’s now the first-choice streaming service for Apple device owners, along with millions of others.

If you’re thinking about switching from Spotify to Apple Music, you probably don’t want to lose your carefully crafted playlists. While the process isn’t simple, it is possible to convert a Spotify playlist to Apple Music if you want to. Here’s how to do it on desktop and mobile devices.

Table of Contents

Using SongShift to Convert a Spotify Playlist to Apple Music on iOS

Unfortunately, there isn’t a built-in option to allow you to convert a Spotify playlist to Apple Music, but you can use an app called SongShift to do this on iOS, should you need to. Similar apps like STAMP exist for Android users.

SongShift allows you to move your playlist and music library between several different music streaming platforms. It supports Spotify and Apple Music, as well as other platforms like Deezer and YouTube Music, and allows you to review song matches and cancel any mismatched songs during the transfer process.

To start, download and install SongShift from the App Store, then open the app. Tap the SongShift icon at the bottom of the screen to begin the transfer process.

Tap the Setup source option at the next screen.

Tap the Connect more option.

Scroll through until you find the Spotify option, then press Connect. Use your Spotify account details to sign in at this stage.

Repeat this for Apple Music by locating Apple Music and pressing Connect, then signing in with your Apple Music account details.

With both services connected, return to the Shift setup screen and press Setup source again. Select Spotify as your setup source, then tap Playlist.

Select the playlist or playlists you want to copy from Spotify to Apple Music from the Source Playlist screen. Free SongShift users can only transfer a single playlist at once, while premium users can select multiple playlists to transfer. Press Select once you’re finished selecting your playlists.

Tap Setup destination to begin transferring your playlist to Apple Music. Select Apple Music as the destination, then tap New Playlist.

Confirm the options are correct (including the new playlist name), then tap I’m Finished to begin the transfer process.

Converting Spotify to Apple Music Playlist Matches using SongShift

The SongShift app and service will begin copying your playlist options from Spotify to Apple Music. Not all songs will transfer, however—rights limitations mean that Spotify and Apple Music don’t always have the same artists and bands available for playback.

You’ll need to review your playlist before you allow SongShift to create it on Apple Music.

Once the playlist transfer is complete, tap your playlist in the SongShift screen, under the Ready for Review section.

If you have any failed matches, press the Ignore button under the Failed Matches section to remove them from your new Apple Music playlist. If you have a SongShift Pro premium subscription, you can also tap Re-Match to manually search for an equivalent song.

If you’re happy with the choices, tap the Confirm Matches button.

SongShift will begin copying your new playlist to Apple Music at this point. Once the process has completed, you’ll be able to play your playlist in the Apple Music app on your iOS device and on other platforms.

Converting Spotify Playlists To Apple Music Online

If you want to convert a Spotify playlist to Apple Music on other platforms, like Windows or macOS, you could use an online service like Soundiiz. This works in a similar way to SongShift, copying your playlists from one music streaming service to another.

Copying playlists from one platform to another requires a premium Soundiiz subscription—if this is a problem, consider using SongShift or STAMP instead.

You’ll need to register for a Soundiiz account before you can use it. Once registered and signed in, head to the Soundiiz web app on your browser. Press the Spotify icon on the left, then press Connect.

With both Spotify and Apple Music services connected to your Soundiiz account, press the Platform to Platform option in the left-hand menu, under the Tools section.

Select Spotify as your source service and Apple Music as your destination service.

Start the playlist transfer by pressing the Begin the transfer button at the final stage.

All of your saved Spotify playlists will begin to transfer to Apple Music at this point. You can view the progress of this, including any missed matches, by pressing the My batches tab under the Automation section in the left-hand menu.

Switching Between Streaming Services

Thanks to platforms like Apple Music, consumers have far more choice in streaming services. If Apple Music or Spotify isn’t right for you, you should consider alternative platforms like YouTube Music instead. Apple users may want to stick with switching to Apple Music, however.
