Suggested March 2024 How To Remove Sound From Video On Android

Filmed a cool new video you’d like to share on social media or with friends, but the audio is not quite up to par? Not to worry, as you can easily remove the annoying background noises or audio straight from your Android phone in a matter of just a few seconds. This tutorial shows you how.

1. With Google Photos

Most Android phones these days have Google Photos preinstalled, which makes this the most convenient solution at your disposal. If you can’t find the app on your device, you can always get it from the Google Play Store. If you have the auto backup feature enabled in Photos, all the videos you’ve shot will be automatically uploaded to the app.

If you don’t, or if you received the video you want to mute from someone else, you’ll need to upload it to Google Photos first.

Open the video you want to remove sound from on your Android phone.

Tap on the “Share” button at the bottom. Depending on your Gallery app, this button may be in a different position.

Select “Upload to Photos.” If you haven’t used this option before, it might not be located at the top, so you may have to press the “More” button to view additional options.

Open the Google Photos app on your phone. The video you just uploaded should be waiting for you at the top. Tap on it to open it in full screen.

A few options should appear at the bottom. Select “Edit.”

In Edit mode, you should notice a “Sound” icon underneath the clip feed. Tap on it to mute the sound.

Press the “Save copy” button to save the video without sound.

Download the new clip back on your device.

Tip: Samsung devices come with a host of special features. One of these is Quick Share. Learn how you can use it.

                2. Use Samsung’s Gallery App

If you have a Samsung phone, you can easily mute your video directly from its proprietary app.

Open the video in Samsung’s Gallery app.

At the bottom, press on the pencil-shaped icon.

You’re now in the app’s editing screen. Tap on the Sound icon in the lower-left corner.

Set the sound of the video to the lowest level, then press “Save” at the top to create a new video without sound.

                      3. Using a Third-Party App

You can also opt to download and install a third-party app on your Android phone with the option to mute sound. This solution could be the right choice if you’re looking to do more in-depth editing on your video. Downloading a dedicated video editing app will be beneficial due to all the extra features involved. Follow the steps below to remove sound from your video with one of the aforementioned apps, InShot.

                      Open InShot on your phone.

Select “Video” in the “Create New” screen.

Select “New” and the video in question.

You’ll be taken to the video editing screen. Select “Music” from the options at the bottom.

Press once on the video feed at the bottom.

This will bring up the Volume slider. Set it to 0, then press the “Check” button on the right. Tap the checkmark once again.

Back in the main video editing screen, tap on “Save” in the upper-right corner.

This isn’t your only choice, of course, as you can perform this with other apps, including:

                                  4. Check Your Social App’s Settings

If you’re looking to upload the video on a social media app, then it’s quite possible the app already has the built-in settings needed for you to remove the audio from your clip. Detailed below is how to create a soundless Reel from a video that originally had an audio background.

Open the video on your phone.

                                  Press the “Share” button.

Select the Instagram Reels button from the options.

The Reel editing screen will open up. Tap on “Edit clips.”

Press on the “Add audio” option underneath the video feed.

                                          Select “Controls” at the top.

Bring the “Camera audio” slider all the way down, then hit “Done.”

Go back to the Reel editing screen, where sound is no longer audible.

Post the Reel or edit it some more if you wish. For instance, you can even add photos to your Instagram Reels.

Similarly on WhatsApp, you can edit a video you’ve shared with someone and can remove its sound. Once done, you can reshare the video and delete the original. Most social apps have a similar setting – you just need to look for it. If your app of choice doesn’t have it, you can always use one of the other methods described in this post.

Frequently Asked Questions Can I add another audio background to my video?

Sure. You have multiple options, such as when you upload your video directly to your social app of choice. For instance, you can add a musical background to your clips on TikTok. You can even add two different songs to one video if you’d like. And if you’re using a video-editing app such as InShot, you can add sound from there.

Can I mute my video selectively?

It’s possible but only if you’re using a third-party video-editing app with extra features. Once again, when using InShot, you can use only parts of your audio if you so choose.

Can I just add sound effects to my otherwise silent video?

Yes, you can add sound effects to your video. Do so from the app itself or from your video-editing app. For example, you can add a fun cricket sound effect to your video straight from Instagram.

Removing the sound from a video on Android is not as hard as it may sound. Keep reading, and you’ll see how you can remove the original sound and replace it with an even better one. All you need is the right app, and hopefully, you’ll find the one you need in the following list.

Remove Sound from Any Video on Android

A video is always better with sound, but sometimes the video you want to send has a song on it that’s not the best one for kids to hear. In that case, you can remove the original sound and replace it with a more kid-friendly song. There are various sources you can try to remove the sound from any Android video.

                                                Google Photos

In the next window, the video will start playing with audio and all. At the bottom left, you’ll see a speaker icon. Tap on that, so the icon has a line through it. That’s all you have to do on your part to remove the audio from your video.

As long as you’re there, you’ll also see options to stabilize your video and even rotate it. At the bottom, you’ll also see an option to trim and export your video.

                                                Video Sound Editor

Video Sound Editor is another good option when it comes to removing audio from any video. The app has a nice design, and it also lets you add audio after you’ve removed the original.

To remove the audio from your video, tap on the Mute Video option. Look for the video whose audio you want to remove. You can tap on the checkmark at the top right to mute the video in the next step. But, use the sliders below to trim your video, and if you need to take one last look at your video, you can always tap on the play button.  By tapping on the cog-wheel, you can also edit the start end time of the video.

When you’re ready for the final version of your video, tap on the checkmark, and you’ll need to choose if you want to mute with trim video or without. In the end, the app will show you what your video looks and sounds like. If you like what you see and hear, you can use the share option to send it to friends.

                                                VivaVideo

If you’re in the habit of creating slideshows and you regularly edit videos, you might want to give VivaVideo a try. Not only will you have tons of editing options to use when you need them, but you can remove the audio from any video. You’ll also see music you can choose from to add to your video.

If you’re not happy with any of the music the app has to offer, there’s also an option to extract audio from another video, but you will need VIP access for this. There’s a slider where you can adjust how much of the original sound you want to add to the video.

                                                VideoShow

Another great option is VideoShow. Just like the previous option, VideoShow also lets you extract audio from other videos if you go Premium. But, for free, you can do things such as remove the original sound of the video, add multi-music, add sound effects, add a voiceover, and add music fade.

VideoShow gives you a long list of songs you can add to your video. If you need more options, just tap on the download more music option.

                                                Final Thoughts

How To Remove Audio From Video On Windows And Mac

Not every video requires sound, especially if the audio quality is poor. Loud background noises, unnecessary chatting, bad language—they can all reduce the quality of an otherwise perfect video, especially home videos. The best way to deal with this problem is to remove the audio entirely, leaving the video to speak for itself.

If you have iMovie installed on Mac, you can use it to quickly scrub the audio track, or use the cross-platform VLC to remove the audio instead. Alternatively, you could use online web services to remove the audio track for you. If you want to know how to remove audio from video on Windows or Mac, here’s what you’ll need to do.

                                                Table of Contents

How to Remove Audio From Video on Mac Using iMovie

If you’re trying to remove audio from video on a Mac, the best way to do it is to use the included iMovie app. iMovie is available for free for all Apple product owners and should be installed automatically on your Mac or MacBook. If it isn’t, you can download it for free from the App Store.

To start, open the iMovie app on your Mac, then select the Projects tab at the top.

In the Projects tab, select the Create New option to create a new video editing project. From the pop-up menu, select Movie.

In the My Movie project window, select the Import Media option to load the video containing the audio you wish to remove. In the Finder window that opens, find and select the file to insert it.

The My Movie project window will update to display your video. Using your mouse, drag the video file to the timeline area at the bottom of the window.

In the File menu box, you can change other video settings, such as video resolution and quality. Select the Next option to continue once you’re ready.

You’ll need to provide a new filename for your audioless video file, as well as a suitable save location. Provide these, then select Save to save your file.

At this point, the video (with audio removed) will appear in the save location you selected. You can play the video to determine that sound has been removed, export it to another platform to share it, or transfer it to another video editor for further edits.

How to Remove Audio From Video on Windows or Mac Using VLC

If you’re looking to remove audio from a video on a Windows PC, or if you’re using a Mac and don’t want the huge iMovie app taking up space, then VLC Media Player is your best, free option. VLC isn’t a video editor, but it does offer some basic video conversion tools that allow you to quickly remove the audio track from a video.

                                                On Windows

In the Open Media window, select Add to add the video containing the audio you wish to remove. Once added, select the Convert / Save option.

In the Convert window, you can make changes to your video output file. Select the settings icon in the Profile section to begin removing the audio track.

In the Profile edition window, select the Audio codec tab. From there, uncheck the Audio checkbox. This will remove all audio from your video. Select the Save option to confirm.

With the audio track removed, you’ll return to the Convert window. Confirm where you’d like to save the audioless video file and give it a new file name by selecting the Browse option in the Destination section. Once you’ve done this, press Start to begin the conversion process.

                                                On Mac

The steps for removing audio from video are slightly different using VLC on Mac.

In the Convert & Stream window, insert your video file by selecting Open Media. Once the file is inserted, select Customize to begin removing the audio track.

In the pop-up window, select Audio Codec, then uncheck the Audio option to remove the audio track. Select Apply to apply the new settings.

With the audio track removed, select Save as File to confirm the new filename and save location for the final, audioless video file. Once confirmed, select Save to begin the save process.

VLC will convert the file at this point, removing the audio track and leaving the video intact. If you select any other video conversion settings (such as changing the video file type), these will be applied at this point.

The source video file will remain intact, allowing you to make further changes and repeat the process, if desired.

Using Online Services to Remove Audio From Video

If you’re looking to remove audio from video without installing new software, you could use various online services to do it for you. However, a word of warning—doing this will involve uploading your video to a remote server, where a script will run to remove the audio from your video automatically.

There are some privacy implications that you should consider before doing this. While online video editing sites shouldn’t hold on to your video, it isn’t guaranteed. You should only use online services for audio removal for videos that don’t contain personal information, or for videos that you’d otherwise be happy to share.

While various online services exist for this purpose, one of the quickest and easiest to use is AudioRemover. Open the AudioRemover website and select Browse to select your video file. Once selected, select Upload Video to upload the file to the remote server.

AudioRemover will remove the audio track immediately once the upload is complete, but this may take some time, depending on the size of the file. Once completed, select the Download File link to download the audioless video file to your PC. Alternatively, select one of the sharing options to share it online using social media or to send it as an email. To delete the file, select the Delete file now link instead.

How To Make Live And Video Wallpapers On Android

Live wallpapers. Remember them? They used to be something of a fashion statement for Android aficionados and one of the features that distinguished Android from the iPhone. While live wallpapers on Android may not be quite the technical marvel they once were, now’s a better time than ever to try them. Here we show you how to make and set live and video wallpaper on Android.

How to Get and Use Live Wallpaper

To set a live wallpaper, you’ll first need to get your hands on one. Some Android phones come pre-loaded with live wallpaper.

If your phone doesn’t offer the feature, the following third-party apps can also help you set your personal or favorite videos as live wallpapers on your Android device.

                                                1. VideoWall

A good option for a third-party app that would allow you to set a video as live wallpaper is VideoWall. Once you’ve installed the app, open it and select the video you want to use as wallpaper.

You can set this newly-created video as the live wallpaper for your home screen, lock screen, or both.

                                                2. Video Live Wallpaper

The Video Live Wallpaper app is another free app on the Google Play Store. After installation, open the app and tap on the Gallery option to select your video. Preview and set the selected video by tapping on the “Set live wallpaper” option. The app also offers features such as muting the audio, loop video, and more. Do keep the “Loop video” option enabled, otherwise, the video won’t play again after playing just once.

The app comes with a “Keep Aspect Ratio” option. Using this feature, the app will automatically crop your video to fit the aspect ratio of your device’s screen.

                                                3. Video Live Wallpaper by NaingDroid

In addition to the features offered by the above two apps, the Video Live Wallpaper app also lets you trim videos. Open the app after installing it and select the video you want to set as your live wallpaper. Use the trim selection bar to select the start and end points of your video. Tap on the link “Set icon” at the top to use the video as wallpaper.

Some other video wallpaper apps that you can try are Video (.MP4; .MOV) to Wallpaper and Any video live wallpaper.

How to Set a Landscape Video as Live Wallpaper on Android

With the above apps, you can only set a portrait video as your wallpaper. You will find issues with landscape orientation videos, as the apps will stretch them to fit your screen.

If you want to use a landscape video as live wallpaper without stretching, you will need to convert the landscape video to a portrait orientation. Third-party apps can help with this. One of the best apps to use is the InShot app.

Open the InShot app after installing it. Load your landscape video in the app. Tap on the Canvas tab. Choose 9:16 orientation and hit the Checkmark icon.

The app will automatically keep a background color for the empty space. If you want to change the background color, tap on the Background option and choose a background color or blur of your choice. Tap the Checkmark icon.

Finally, tap on the Save button to download the video to your phone. Once downloaded, set it as your wallpaper as described in the portrait video section above.

How to Set 4D Live Wallpapers

The latest and newest approach to customizing your Android device’s home screen is 4D live wallpapers. Notably, these 4D live wallpapers make use of the gyroscope and accelerometer sensors on your phone and provide an amazing 3D depth effect. This means the 4D wallpaper that you have set will respond to the movement you make with your phone.

One of the best apps for setting up 4D live wallpaper is the 4D Live Wallpaper app. There are tons of animated live wallpapers with amazing depth effects. This app has wallpapers from different categories, including superheroes, space, black neon, flaming skulls, geometric shapes, and much more.

You can also try other 4D live wallpaper apps, such as 4D Parallax Wallpaper and X Live Wallpaper – HD 3D/4D live wallpaper. These apps have a huge collection of 4D live wallpapers that you will enjoy.

Frequently Asked Questions What should I do if the video can’t be converted to live wallpaper?

Almost all videos can be converted to live wallpapers provided they are in the correct format. However, if a video cannot be set as wallpaper, try converting it into a supported format as shown next. Secondly, change its orientation to portrait instead of landscape. Similarly, you should trim your videos using any video editor so that the video can loop easily.

Which video formats can be used for live wallpapers?

All the regular video formats such as MP4, 3GP, WebM, etc. can be set as live wallpapers. If a format isn’t supported, navigate to the online video convertor tool and convert the video to MP4. You can even set a GIF as wallpaper on Android.

Do live wallpapers affect battery life?

Most live wallpapers, especially the pre-installed ones, are now well-optimized for battery life. However, some wallpapers can affect your phone’s battery life. Those include the manually-created video wallpapers or those that use third-party apps.

                                                Wrapping Up

How To Remove Chat In Gmail App On Iphone And Android

Minimalist or not, you might want to keep the main screen of the Gmail app on your phone as clean as possible. As Google adds more and more features to the Gmail app over time, some of you might still want the same old app interface that keeps things simple. In case you’re not familiar with recent changes to Gmail, Google is now integrating Chat messaging and group Rooms functionalities directly to the Gmail app.

If you opt in to the new features, you should see new Chat and Rooms tabs at the bottom of the Gmail app alongside the Mail and Meet tabs on the app’s main screen.

But what if you want to disable these tabs from the Gmail app? Can you actually disable the Chat tab and how do you do it? That’s what we’re going to discuss in the post below.

Can you remove Chat in Gmail app?

Yes. Although the new Chat tab at the bottom of the Gmail app might be useful for some of you, you still have the option to opt out of the functionality whenever you feel like it. When you disable the new Chat tab on the app, Gmail will revert back to its previous state of just Mail and Meet tabs at the bottom or none, depending on how you managed it prior to enabling the Chat functionality.

How to Disable Chat in Gmail app on Android

If you enabled the Chat Tab inside the Gmail app on your phone but if you no longer wish to use it, you can disable it anytime. You can follow the steps explained below to opt out of the Chat tab inside the Gmail app on your device.

When Chat inside Gmail is enabled, you will see four tabs at the bottom portion of the Gmail main screen.

With any of these tabs active, tap on the hamburger icon at the top left corner of the screen.

At the bottom of the sidebar that appears on the left, find and tap on the ‘Settings’ option.

Inside your personal Gmail account, scroll down to the ‘General’ section and then uncheck the box adjacent to ‘Chat’.

This will deactivate the Chat and Rooms tabs inside the Gmail app on your Android device and when Gmail relaunches, you should only see the Mail and Meet tabs at the bottom if Meet is enabled. If not, you should see no tabs at the bottom.

To disable the Meet tab, uncheck the toggle for it under Settings. Just scroll below the Chat toggle you used above to find the toggle for the Meet button.

How to Disable Chat in Gmail app on iPhone

When the new Chat option is enabled, you should see the following four tabs at the bottom of the Gmail app – Mail, Chat, Rooms, and Meet.

To disable the Chat tab, tap on the hamburger icon at the top left corner of the screen with any of these tabs active.

When the sidebar pops up from the left, tap on the ‘Settings’ option at the bottom.

This should load up the Settings screen. Here, tap on your personal Gmail account (eg: [email protected]) which will be at the topmost part of the screen.

Under the ‘General’ section, disable the toggle adjacent to the ‘Chat (early access)’ option.

You will now be asked to confirm in a dialog box whether you wish to disable the Chat tab. Tap on the ‘Turn off’ option inside this dialog.

This should close the Gmail app on your iPhone. When you relaunch the Gmail app, you should no longer be able to see the Chat and Rooms tabs at the bottom.

To remove the Meet tab too, just turn off its toggle too, which is right below the Chat toggle.

That’s all we have to share about disabling the Chat tab inside Gmail.

Remove Google Search From The Google Gboard Keyboard (Android)

Google Keyboard has changed its name as well as many other things in its latest update released this month. Gboard, as it’s now called, has been available on iOS for more than 6 months, however, has only just hit Android devices this week. If you have updated to the new style or are considering doing so, this guide will show you how to remove the one feature that is driving people crazy, the “G” search icon.

How to Group Video Chat Using Facebook Messenger.

The biggest and most bragged about feature of Gboard is the built-in Google Search function, which makes searching Google available from anywhere your keyboard will display. You no longer have to open your browser to search. If you have updated from an older version or have downloaded Gboard just recently, this function is quite sporadic in its activation. On some devices, it is active from the get-go and other devices it must be turned on manually.

Some of the Interesting Functions of Google’s Gboard.

There is also a similar function available to use for GIF’s, however, the GIF function is limited to certain boards and chats such as Google Hangouts. As the trend catches it will become more widely available.

If you are a more practical person, Gboard also allows you to toggle the number of rows displayed permanently on your keyboard, maximising the display area of your screen by reducing the keyboard’s footprint. Multiple languages are also available for those users that are multilingual.

Note: The language option doesn’t work as well on Gboard as other keyboards in my opinion. Another keyboard worth trying if you switch between languages a lot is Fleksy. If you would like great multilingual support, that’s quick to switch between languages, Fleksy will serve you well.

The last cool feature is the ability to change the theme of Gboard, which isn’t all that new of a concept, as most keyboards on offer also allow this option, However! Something that you can do theme-wise, that not many, if any at all offer, is the ability to set a custom background for your keyboard.

If you are a big fan of the new style keyboard but hate the Google search option it is possible to disable it without much trouble at all. If however, you are on the other side and don’t have it enabled and wish to decide for yourself if it is worth using, you can turn it on just as easily.

Disabling or Enabling the Google Search box on Google’s Gboard Keyboard (formerly Google Keyboard)

It doesn’t matter if you are trying to enable or trying to disable the search box at the top of Gboard, it is basically the same process. To begin, open Gboard keyboard Settings, which can be done from the app drawer. Once the settings menu is open, tap Search and toggle the Show “G” Button to either On or Off. It’s that simple! You can now open your keyboard to double check the box is gone.

Whilst you are in the settings menu, it’s worth going into the Advanced box at the bottom and turning off Share usage Statistics and Share Snippets to get yourself a little extra privacy. Having the option to turn these settings on and off is probably just for show, but who knows if it does work why not use it.
