This tutorial covers using a PS5 controller on your Mac or PC. Before connecting a controller to your computer, turn off the PS5 controller. When that’s done, you can connect the controller to your computer with a USB cable or wirelessly.

USB Wired Connection

For a wired USB connection, use the Type-A to Type-C cable included in the PS5 packaging. If you can’t find the included cable, use a third-party USB cable that supports power transfer and data synchronization. Windows or macOS won’t detect your PS5 DualSense controller if you use a “charge only” cable.

All you have to do to get it working is plug the cable’s USB-A connector into your PC and insert the USB-C connector into the DualSense controller’s USB-C port.

Note: Use a USB-C to USB-C cable for PCs and MacBooks without a USB Type-A port. Plug either end of the cable to your Mac or PC and the other end to the controller.

Connect the PS5 DualSense Controller Wirelessly

Remember to turn off or disconnect your controller from other devices before pairing it to your computer. Press and hold the PS button on the controller until the indicator light goes off. That disconnects the controller from other Bluetooth devices and makes it available for pairing to a new device.

Connect a PS5 Controller to a Windows PC

To pair a PS5 DualSense controller to a Windows 10 or Windows 11 computer, follow these steps.

On Windows 11, open your PC’s

    app (press

    Windows key

    ). Select

    Bluetooth & devices

on the sidebar and then select

    Add device

    on the right.

The next step is putting your controller in pairing mode. Press and hold the

        Playstation button

        Create button

for about 5 seconds. Release both buttons when the controller’s indicator light blinks twice.

          On your PC, select

          Wireless Controller

Wait for your PC to connect to the controller. Select

to close the window when you see a “Your device is ready to go” message.

Your controller should appear as “Connected” in the Bluetooth settings menu. Now you can use the controller in Steam games and other compatible programs.

            Connect a PS5 Controller to a Mac

              Press and hold the

              PS button

              Create button

on your PS5 controller until the indicator light blinks twice intermittently. That puts the controller in pairing mode.

Your Mac should detect a “DualSense Wireless Controller” in the Bluetooth settings menu. Select the

                button to proceed.

Unlike Windows, macOS correctly recognizes and labels the PS5 controller as “DualSense Wireless Controller.”

to customize the functionality of some buttons on the DualSense controller.

By default, pressing the Home (PS) button on the controller opens your Mac’s Launchpad.

You can configure macOS to open the floating app switcher when you long-press your controller’s Home (PS) button. To do so, open the “Home Long Press” drop-down menu and select

The “Share” or “Create” button is also customizable. You can start recording your screen or capture “highlights” during gameplay by double-pressing or long-pressing the Share button. Capturing a highlight saves the last 15 seconds of gameplay.

Expand the “Share Double Press” or “Share Long Press” menu and select

                      Start/Stop Recording

                      Capture Highlight

                        Record Screen

                        on the confirmation prompt.

Note: Capturing highlights with the DualSense controller may reduce gameplay speed and performance.

                          to save the customizations.

Set Up and Use PS5 Controller on Your Computer

Your computer and compatible apps should immediately detect a PS5 DualSense controller connected via cable or wirelessly. Depending on the app or PC games you’re playing, you may need to enable app-specific settings.

In Steam, for instance, enabling “PlayStation Configuration Support” allows you to enjoy all features of the DualSense controller.

Connect the controller to your computer and open Steam’s settings.

Head to the “Controller” tab on the left sidebar and select

                            General Controller Settings

Ensure your PlayStation 5 Controller appears in the “Detected Controller” section. Select the

                              PlayStation Configuration Support

checkbox and close the controller settings window.

You should also select the Generic Gamepad Configuration Support checkbox. That could help your PS5 controller work correctly if Steam’s PlayStation Configuration Support malfunctions.

In Remote Play, you’ll see your controller’s battery level in the bottom-right corner of the screen.

If your PS5 controller doesn’t work in a specific game, contact the game developer for support.

PS5 Controller Not Connecting or Working on PC or Mac? Try These Fixes

Your computer may fail to recognize a PS5 Controller for many reasons. The troubleshooting recommendations below should resolve the problem(s).

                              1. Try A Different Port or Cable

If you’re connecting your controller using a cable, ensure it’s the original cable included in the PS5 packaging. If you use a knockoff or counterfeit cable, your computer may not detect the DualSense controller. Use an authentic cable that supports both data synchronization and power transfer.

USB port problems can also prevent PS5 controllers from connecting to your computer. Try a different port on your computer if the controller doesn’t work on a particular port. We also recommend plugging the controller directly into your computer. When using a USB adapter, ensure the accessory supports data synchronization and power transfer.

                              2. Update the Controller

Updating your controller to the latest firmware can fix connectivity and performance issues.

If you’re using a Windows PC, update the PS5 controller using the Firmware updater for DualSense wireless controller app. Install the app on your computer and plug the controller using a cable.

The app will automatically download and install any firmware update available for your controller. Make sure your computer has an internet connection.

                              3. Restart Your Computer

Reboot your computer if your controller’s firmware is up-to-date, but it won’t connect or work when playing compatible games.

                              4. Reset the Controller to Factory Settings

If the problem persists, restore your PS5 DualSense controller’s settings to factory default. Disconnect or unplug the controller from your console or other devices before performing the factory reset. You should also shut down your console.

Locate a tiny circle-shaped hole on the back of the controller. Inside the hole is the DualSense controller’s reset button. Insert a pin or paper clip in the hole and push the reset button for 3-5 seconds.

Turn on the controller, connect it to your computer, and check if it now works without any issue.

Enjoy Console-Like Gaming on Your Computer

Connecting a PS5 DualSense controller to a Windows or Mac computer is easy. Update your computer’s operating system if you still have problems using the controller. Visit a PlayStation Service Repair Center if your DualSense controller won’t connect or work on its console or computer.

How To Set Up And Use Apple Home Sharing On Your Mac Or Pc

Do you have multiple Apple and Windows devices at home? If so, you might want to share your media library with them. With Home Sharing, you can do just that.

Home Sharing lets you stream music, movies, TV shows, and more from one authorized Mac to another. You can also share content between other Apple devices and with Windows PCs using the Windows iTunes app.

                              Table of Contents

If you want to set up and use Apple Home Sharing on your Mac or PC, follow the steps below.

Understanding Home Sharing vs. Family Sharing

If you’re an Apple user, you might wonder what the difference is between Home Sharing and Family Sharing. These features might sound similar, but they have different purposes and functionality.

Home Sharing is a way to share your media library across your devices on the same home network. You can stream or transfer music, movies, TV shows, and more from one authorized computer to another. You can also access your shared library on your iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, or Apple TV.

Family Sharing is a way to share your iTunes purchases with other members of your family group. You can use one Apple ID as the organizer and pay for all purchases made by family members. You can also access the purchase history of other members and download their media, apps, and books to your devices.

Home Sharing doesn’t share apps or books, while Family Sharing does. Home Sharing also requires all devices to be on the same local network, while Family Sharing doesn’t. Another major difference is that Home Sharing allows up to five devices to share media, while Family Sharing allows up to six people.

How to Set Up Home Sharing on Your Mac

Before you can use Home Sharing, you’ll need to set things up first. It’s a good idea to check that your devices are up to date, including your Mac and Windows PC and any other Apple devices you plan to use.

To use Home Sharing, you should connect any device you plan to use to the same local network. You should also use the same Apple ID on each device and ensure those devices are authorized to play any purchases you’ve made from that ID.

Finally, if you’re sharing files with a Windows PC, you’ll need the Bonjour service to be active and running. Once you’re ready to proceed, you must set up Home Sharing using your Mac. To do this, follow these steps.

                              On the left, select

                              , then press

                              on the right.

                              Enable the

                              Media Sharing

                              slider, then press the

                              button next to it.

                              Press the

                              Home Sharing

                              checkbox to enable the feature.

When prompted, enter your Apple ID and select

                              Turn on Home Sharing

                              to save your settings.

It’s important that you use the same Apple ID for every computer or device on your Home Sharing network. If you use different Apple IDs, your devices won’t be able to work together.

How to Set Up Apple Home Sharing on a Windows PC

If you want to set up Apple Home Sharing on your Windows PC, you’ll need to use the iTunes for Windows app. You can run Home Sharing via iTunes on up to five PCs on the same local network.

To set up Home Sharing on your PC, follow these steps.

If you haven’t already, download and install iTunes for Windows on your PC.

Open the iTunes for Windows app and sign in with the same Apple ID you use on your other Home Sharing devices.

How to Use Home Sharing on Your Mac or PC

Once you’ve set up Home Sharing, you can view your shared libraries using your PC or Mac. As we’ve mentioned, you can only do this if you use the same Apple ID on multiple devices.

To view your Home Sharing media library:

                              Open the

                              app on your Mac or

                              iTunes for Windows

on your PC. If you’re not already signed in, sign in with your Apple ID.

                              In iTunes on Windows, press

                              , then select the

                              drop-down menu

next to the arrows on the top menu. From there, select your shared library from the menu.

In Music on Mac, press the

option in the left-hand menu, then select your shared library from the menu (listed under

                              Home Sharing)

To return to your own music library, press the

                              Tips for Using Home Sharing

If you followed the steps correctly, your devices across the local network should now have Home Sharing set up. To use Home Sharing properly, follow these tips.

Ensure that your devices are powered up and active and that your Music or iTunes apps are open for file sharing to work on each device.

To import items from a shared library to your library, drag them from the shared library to your library in the Music app or iTunes for Windows.

Sharing Files on Apple and Windows

Home Sharing is a great way to enjoy your media library across your Apple and Windows devices. It’s easy to set up and use, and it saves you from copying or syncing your files manually. With Home Sharing, you can stream, import, and play your content from any computer or device on your home network.

While it is less convenient, you could also share files between Mac and Windows PCs using basic file sharing. Struggling to see your files on Windows? You should ensure your PC can see other devices on your network next.

How To Setup & Use Signal On Mac Or Windows Pc

Signal is the popular encrypted messaging app that lets you send and receive encrypted messages across platforms, including Mac, Windows, Linux, Android, and iOS. This makes Signal an excellent choice if you’re a Mac user or iPhone user that also wants to instantly communicate in a secure manner with someone else on a Mac, PC, Android, iPad, or iPhone. Signal also supports encrypted voice-over-IP for voice calls, image and media messaging, and a variety of other nice features for communication, and for maintaining some security, like auto-deleting messages.

If you’re on a Mac, or Windows PC, and you want to setup Signal on your computer to communicate with other Signal users, the walkthrough below will detail the process.

To get started you will need Signal setup on iPhone or Android with a valid and active cell phone number, the Signal client for that cell phone, and the Signal client for the desktop. Of course you’ll need internet access on those devices too. The rest is easy.

How to Setup Signal on Mac

This will walk through setting up Signal messenger on the Mac, but the setup process is basically exactly the same for Windows PC and Linux as well, so if you want to set up the messaging client on another platform you don’t need to change much. Here are the appropriate steps:

First, get Signal for iPhone or Android and set it up on your phone, it requires a phone number that can be verified and this is not optional *

Next, download the Signal client for Mac

Install Signal by dragging the chúng tôi file into your /Applications folder, then launch the Signal app **

Upon launching Signal, you’ll see a QR code, now you must go back to your iPhone or Android to complete setup

Open Signal on the iPhone or Android, then tap on Settings (it’s the gear icon in the corner)

                              Choose “Linked Devices”

Select “Link New Device – Scan QR Code” and point the phones camera at the QR code on the Mac screen

Once the QR code is recognized and the connection is confirmed, give the Mac an identifiable name, and that’s it

Now you’re ready to use Signal on the Mac! Or a Windows PC, or whatever else you set it up on.

Of course Signal is only useful if you have other people that are using it too, so if you like the idea of an encrypted messaging app for private or secure communications, then you’ll want to be sure you have colleagues, friends, family, or anyone else also sign up to use the Signal service. Signal is not able to send SMS text messages or iMessages, or use any other messaging protocol for that matter, it can only communicate with other Signal users, as any other messaging service would break the end-to-end encryption which is one of the benefits of using Signal in the first place.

                              * When setting up Signal in iOS (and probably Android), it will ask for permission to access your contacts and other information, but this is not necessary to grant permission if it is undesired, as you can manually add phone numbers and contacts to communicate with yourself.

** You may need to bypass Gatekeeper’s warning message depending on how strict your Mac Gatekeeper settings are.

Signal is said to be very secure with end-to-end encryption, though if you’re more of the “trust, but verify” type, and you happen to be a programmer, you’ll be pleased to know Signal is Open Source software and thus you can dig around in the Signal source code if you feel like checking it out.

Another great bonus to Signal is that it’s cross platform compatible. This means you can use Signal as a Text/SMS or iMessage alternative and communicate easily with any Mac, Android, iPhone, Windows, iPad, Linux, or other device user. So if you’re tired of not having an official way of using iMessage on PC and want to seamlessly send messages back and forth between computers and operating systems, Signal is a great option.

How To Use Parental Controls On Your Mac

The parental controls on Mac allow you to have more control over your child’s access, and they’re an invaluable tool to make sure that they’re only doing what they’re supposed to be doing instead of everything they shouldn’t.

Because many parents allow their children to use their Macs, it’s a good idea to set parental control restrictions on their user account. We’ll show you how this is done in this tutorial.

                              The benefits of parental controls

With parental controls, you can deny access to certain apps, websites, and the people they may want to interact with. These settings can be applied to any standard user on your Mac, but not other administrator accounts.

These are very useful tools for parents who want to make sure their child is only using the computer for academic activities rather than playing online with video games, watching videos on YouTube or Netflix, or communicating with friends on Facebook or Twitter.

Likewise, schools and institutions who use Macs in libraries and computer labs can use these features to prevent students from getting distracted while in an educational environment.

Parental controls come built into every Mac with El Capitan or later installed on it, and they’re easy to enable and configure from any administrator account.

                              Enabling parental controls on Mac

To enable parental controls for any standard user on your Mac, you will need to be logged into an administrator account. Once you are, you can follow these steps to enable parental controls for a standard user:

                              1) Launch the System Preferences app and open the Users & Groups preferences pane.

                              4) Next, select a standard macOS user you would like to apply parental controls to, and then put a check mark in the Enable Parental Controls box.

Note that the text under the account name changes from “Standard” to “Managed” after the changes are complete. This indicates that the account is being managed by an administrator with parental controls.

                              Configuring parental controls on Mac

Now that you’ve enabled parental control management for a standard Mac user, you can start configuring them. To do this, follow these steps:

                              1) Launch the System Preferences app on your Mac and open the Parental Controls preferences pane.

                              Selecting what to configure

Every parent is going to want different restrictions for their child, so we won’t be telling you how to configure these settings. On the other hand we will explain what each of them can do.

The preferences pane is separated into six tabs: Apps, Web, Stores, Time, Privacy, and Other.

In the apps tab, you can control what apps your child is allowed to access. Here, you can control access to the following things:

                              Use of the iSight camera

                              Joining Game Center games

                              Adding Game Center friends

Who can and can’t be emailed

What applications can and can’t be launched

What utilities can and can’t be launched

In the web tab, you have the ability to limit the websites your child can load. You have the following management options:

Allowing unrestricted access to all websites

                              Limiting access to adult websites

Allowing access to only some websites that may be needed for school or research

In the stores tab, you can keep your child from accessing the digital content stores and downloading things. You can control access to the following:

                              iTunes Store

                              iTunes U

                              iBooks Store

                              Music with explicit content

                              Movies based on rating

                              TV shows based on rating

                              Apps based on age rating

                              Books with explicit sexual content

In the time tab, you can control time frames where the user account is allowed to have access to the computer. This is perfect for setting time limits so children don’t spent too much time on the computer and keeping them from using the computer at too late of a time. You can configure the following options here:

Setting time limits for weekday computer use

Setting time limits for weekend computer use

Setting up specified allowed hours on school days

Setting up specified allowed hours on weekends

There is also a Logs button, which lets you see a usage log for as long as you need to.

From the privacy tab, you can control the apps and services that are allowed to have access to the information stored in your child’s user account. This may be important to parents who want to keep bad people from obtaining information about their kids. Here, you get the following settings to configure:

                              Managing app privacy settings

Preventing access or changes to location services settings

Preventing access or changes to contacts settings

Preventing access or changes to calendars settings

Preventing access or changes to reminders settings

Preventing access or changes to Twitter settings

Preventing access or changes to Facebook settings

Preventing access or changes to Diagnostics settings

The other tab lets you configure some other various features of macOS that you may or may not want your child to have access to. Those include:

Enabling or disabling use of Siri Dictation to convert speech to text

Preventing the printer and scanner settings from being changed

Preventing the burning CDs or DVDs from Finder

Keeping explicit language from showing up in the macOS Dictionary

Keeping the contents of the Dock from being changed

Enabling a simplified Finder window with fewer options

                              Wrapping up

With today’s technology, children have access to almost anything they want to on computers and the internet and parental controls on Mac are a powerful way to control your child’s experience.

How To Find Passwords On A Mac

Have you ever forgotten an important password and couldn’t find it? Even if your computer is set to automatically fill in your passwords, you might need to actually see them, like when you need to give your WiFi password to a visitor, or need to sign in to your emails from a device that’s not your home computer.

Mac has a couple of ways to help you find your passwords. Learn how to find any saved password on a Mac and you’ll never have to worry about forgetting them again.

How to Find Passwords on a Mac Using Keychain Access

Taking into account all the security threats that you come across when browsing the web, it’s better to use strong and unique passwords for every website you need. Unless you have a perfect memory, memorizing all of them is impossible.

The good news is that Mac has a built-in app called Keychain Access that you can use to see your saved passwords. To find your passwords using the Mac’s Keychain Access, follow the steps below:

Open Finder and select Applications from the sidebar on the left to open the Applications folder.

                              Scroll down and select Utilities.

Inside this folder, select Keychain Access to open the app.

You can also find the Keychain Access app on your Mac using the Spotlight search. Find it in the upper-right corner of the screen or use the keyboard shortcut Cmd + Space to open it. Then type in Keychain Access to locate the app.

Once inside the application, select Passwords from the sidebar on the left.

To make your search more efficient, use the search bar in the upper-right corner of the app to type in the name of the application or website that you need the passwords. If there are duplicates, search for the most recent one.

Once you’ve found the password that you need, select it.

In the pop-up window, select Show password.

Keychain Access will prompt you to enter the password that you use when logging into your computer.

You’ll now see the password you need in the Show password line.

How to Find WiFi Passwords on Mac

Not many people know their home WiFi password by heart. So when your friends come over and ask to use your internet, finding your WiFi password may become a quest.

To quickly find your WiFi password on your Mac using Keychain Access, follow the steps below.

You’ll now see your password shown in the app under Show password.

How to Find Passwords Saved in Safari

If you use Safari a lot and save your passwords there, it might be easier for you to use Safari to find them. To find your saved passwords in Safari, follow the steps below.

                              Launch Safari on your Mac.

From the browser’s menu, select Preferences.

                              Select the Passwords tab.

Enter your user password to unlock your passwords.

You can now see the list of all the websites with the saved usernames and passwords. To reveal a password for a single site, simply select it from the list. You can also use this tab to add and remove websites and your saved credentials.

How to Find Passwords Saved in Chrome

If you prefer using Chrome over Safari, you might also want to find passwords that you saved in the Chrome browser. The passwords that you save in Chrome won’t appear in Keychain Access but you can find them in Chrome instead. To do that, follow the steps below.

                              Launch Chrome on your Mac.

From the browser’s menu, select Preferences.

Select Autofill from the sidebar on the left.

                              Select Passwords.

Scroll down until you see the Saved Passwords section.

Find the website that you need to see the password for and select the eye icon next to its name.

Google Chrome will then prompt you to enter the password that you use to log into your computer.

Your password will appear in the table next to the website’s name in the Password column. To hide it again, select the eye icon one more time.

How To Completely Uninstall Virtualbox On Your Mac

If you don’t use VirtualBox on your Mac anymore, you’re probably looking to uninstall it to reduce clutter and free up disk space. Or, you might be looking to remove it as part of routine troubleshooting.

However, Oracle’s open-source virtualization program stores support files in multiple locations, so a standard Mac app uninstallation results in many files left behind.

                              Table of Contents

Instead, use the techniques below to completely uninstall VirtualBox on a MacBook, Mac mini, or iMac.

Note: The following methods won’t remove your virtual machine disk images. The only way to delete those is to manually delete the relevant folders from your Mac (more on that further below).

How to Uninstall VirtualBox on Mac Using the VirtualBox Uninstall Tool

The quickest, safest, and most convenient way to uninstall VirtualBox from your Mac is to use the VirtualBox Uninstall Tool that comes bundled with the VirtualBox installer package for macOS.

It’s a command-line utility that deletes all VirtualBox related-files on your Mac, such as cached data, drivers, and kexts (kernel extensions).

                              and press

to confirm you want to uninstall VirtualBox.

Wait until the VirtualBox_Uninstall.tool removes VirtualBox and associated files and folders from your Mac. You’ll see the “Process Completed” Terminal output upon completion.

How to Uninstall VirtualBox on Mac Using a Dedicated App Removal Utility

If you have trouble using the VirtualBox Uninstall Tool, an alternative way to fully delete VirtualBox is to use a dedicated app removal utility for the Mac. As an example, here’s how to use AppCleaner to uninstall VirtualBox on macOS.

Download and open AppCleaner. It’s available as a free download at chúng tôi

Note: If your Mac blocks you from opening AppCleaner, open the System Settings app, choose Privacy & Security, and select Open Anyway to bypass the security restriction.

                              Select the

icon on the top-right of the AppCleaner window.

                              Scroll down the list, select

, and wait until AppCleaner produces a list of files related to the program.

to delete all VirtualBox installation files.

Alternatively, drag and drop the VirtualBox app from the Applications folder on your Mac into the AppCleaner window and choose Remove.

How to Manually Uninstall the VirtualBox Application on Mac Using Finder

If you prefer a hands-on approach to removing VirtualBox, you can move the program to the Trash and follow by deleting leftover items manually via Finder.

Even if you use the methods above, you should check the following locations for VirtualBox leftovers.

Note: To protect against accidentally deleting files critical to macOS, consider creating a Time Machine backup before you begin.

                              Open Finder, select

                              on the sidebar, and move

                              into your Mac’s Trash.

Enter your Mac user account password and select

Paste the following path and press

Drag the following files into the Trash.

Use the Go to Folder box repeatedly to remove VirtualBox leftovers from the following directories:

                              ~/Library/Saved Application State

                              Library/Application Support

Restart your Mac. If everything works normally, you can choose to empty the Trash.

Optional: How to Remove the VirtualBox VMs Folder

If you want to free up additional storage from your Mac after uninstalling VirtualBox, you must delete the contents of the VirtualBox VMs directory. It houses your OS X, Windows, and Linux operating system disk images.

The folder is located within the root of your Mac user account. To get to it, type the following into a Go to Folder box and press Return:

                              ~/VirtualBox VMs

Each virtual machine resides inside a sub-folder inside the directory. Trash any VM you don’t need.

Warning: If you’re planning to reinstall VirtualBox later, consider keeping the images or moving them to an external storage device. If you delete the VMs, you permanently lose all data inside them.

                              VirtualBox Fully Uninstalled on Mac

Using the VirtualBox Uninstall Tool is the best approach for a thorough VirtualBox uninstallation on your Mac. Use an app removal utility if that fails, or take matters into your own hands and remove the application and all of its leftovers manually. Also, don’t forget to deal with your virtual machine disk images separately.
