Assuming you are an avid gamer, chances are you know how important it is to perform actions with ease and quickness while gaming.

Mainly if you compete with other gamers because every wrong or delayed move could potentially cost you.

If you relate to the sentiment just mentioned, you will appreciate the G-shift, a creation of the Logitech gaming hub.

Logitech has constantly blessed the gamer community with convenient and innovative gaming paraphernalia, and their G shift is among their best creations.

You might be wondering what this is.

G Shift is a mouse that comes fitted with keys that you can customize so that they perform the task of your keyboard macros and other key combinations.

Considering many gamers are unfamiliar with the product, this article contains everything essential to know regarding the Logitech G-shift, from how to set it up to how to customize it and even its outstanding features.

Here are some of the best Logitech Mouse for gaming

As a professional gamer with any mouse type mentioned in the list below, it’s imperative to know about and utilize the Logitech G shift feature. When Logitech announced the G shift software, gamers were amused because this feature allowed them to perform several keyboard functions by simply pressing one button on their mouse.

Simply put, a Logitech G shift is a mouse customization option that allows users to override standard mouse button functions and otherwise customize them to perform different functions. Additionally, you can customize your mouse key configurations so that pressing one button performs different functions simultaneously.

For perspective, assume you are in the middle of gaming and want to kick and then shoot someone. If the move mentioned earlier is performed by pressing the shift + X and ctrl keys, then you can configure one of the buttons of your mouse to perform both actions simultaneously. So, in short, the one mouse button will have replaced two keyboard keys.

This way, you will save valuable time and reduce the risk of making a mistake.

It is via the said software that you can customize the mouse buttons to perform different functions and download any extra features you might need.

Some of the outstanding features you can access through the software include:

So considering different games require you to perform different functions, you can customize the mouse configurations that will be helpful for the game in question. So, assuming that you usually play GTA and Call of Duty, the Logitech Software will automatically switch to the GTA configurations profile every time it detects that you are playing said game.

Lastly, this software allows light sync thanks to its RGB gear. For this reason, you can easily color-synchronize all your gaming paraphernalia in a way that they all display one color.

Logitech prides itself on creating products and software that have a user-friendly interface. For that reason, you don’t need programmer or gamer experience to configure the G shift modifier keys. However, you need to have the Logitech G hub software installed before you proceed with the steps below. And for you to do that, your mouse needs to be compatible with the G shift software.

Setting up the G shift mode automatically activates it. When the G shift mode is activated, every action you perform will be per what you customized it to be, not the standard function. However, you will still have the default settings at your disposal if you want a change.

It’s imperative to note that there are three G shift modes to choose from. Namely:

This mode is the default G shift setting, allowing you to use all your mouse buttons as you normally would.

Turbo mode is also perfect for certain games. For perspective, pressing the G shift modifier button while in Turbo mode makes your weapon’s firing rate increase.

Keeping the above in mind, remember you can create different profiles and choose a different mode for each. This way, you can easily switch between profiles while gaming.

Here is a step-by-step guide to performing the task at hand:

One of the best marketing points of the Logitech G shift mouse is that it allows you to record several macros. In layman’s terms, you can easily assign one Mouse button to perform several functions at once; therefore, the button will be known as a macro key function.

There are two ways you can go about setting macros. One is via the official Logitech software command section, and the other is through the device. Below I will show you how to use the software’s command section.

3. At this point, you will be directed to a separate page where you are supposed to design your new key configurations

5. Proceed to remap the keys, commands, and actions by dragging then dropping different configurations from the left side navigation panel onto the mouse keys on the screen on display.

7. You will now need to choose a macro type. Keep in mind that different macro types have different functions and also differ in how the macro key reacts to touch

10. Press the Save button for your new settings to be a register

Even though you cannot delete a macro key configuration, you can temporarily disable it. This way, the button’s functions revert to their default settings.

Here is a tutorial on how to go about the task at hand:

3. Tap on the Macros tab and when it opens, scroll through its right panel

4. At this point, the display will present you with two options: Default and Disable. Please note that going with the Default option means your mouse will revert to its default settings and ignore any new settings you might have.

Alternatively, choosing the Disable option means that any Macro keys configuration you might have set will be temporarily disabled. Also, you won’t be able to use the button in question at all.

Please note that you cannot undo your actions once you disable the macro keys. Instead, you will need to uninstall and then reinstall the whole software for it to revert back to default settings.

G shift doesn’t have a toggle feature. However, you can switch mouse profiles, ultimately getting the same results. This is because you have the freedom of customizing each profile to be good at something different.

Here is how to go about it:

5. Key in your desired mouse profile icon and press Enter to create a new profile

8. Drag and drop the Profile cycle function from the left navigation panel onto the mouse button that you want to be used to change from one mouse profile to the another

Every modern Logitech gaming peripheral is compatible with the G shift software. Additionally, a collection of select mouse brands can also be compatible. As for now, here are some of the Logitech compatible mice:

1. G903 LIGHTSPEED Wireless Gaming Mouse

2. G900 Wireless Gaming Mouse

3. G703 LIGHTSPEED Wireless Gaming Mouse

4. G602 Gaming Mouse

5. G600 Gaming Mouse

6. G502 RGB Tunable Gaming Mouse

7. G502 Proteus Core

8. G502 Hero Gaming Mouse

17. G100s Gaming Mouse

You might be wondering what all the G shift rave is all about. Well, here are a few great reasons that might make you join the wagon:

Customizing your G shift to suit your gaming needs gives you a playing edge when in competitive gaming. This feature allows you to combine several commands into one mouse button. For perspective, you can now fire at multiple targets at once, perform tasks quicker, and so forth.

Additionally, Logitech G shift is relatively easy to activate as well as to switch from normal to G shift mode. This makes it convenient for professional gamers.

Considering you won’t need to rely on your keyboard to play as much, you will have an overall better gaming experience and tire your arms less.

The fact that you can customize your mouse buttons to perform different functions and commands is quite convenient. Also, you can remix the customization till you find your preferred combinations.

You can also override unwanted mouse configurations by enforcing your key configurations. This way, you get to maximize your mouse’s potential.

Even though this appliance is packed with plenty of features, it’s not expensive. Of course, one would expect to be met with a considerable price tag, but it’s moderately priced, making it more accessible.

This product is made with state-of-the-art materials giving it an expensive look. Also, you can customize the color to make it easy to blend in with the rest of the gaming appliances.

When G shift mode is active, the mouse buttons light up in a chosen led color. Thankfully, you have the option of customizing the led color by choosing from a collection of over 1000 colors as many times as you please. Here is how to go about it:

1. Long press the G key on your keyboard

2. While still pressing down the G key, press the any Fn Key

3. Skim through the available color options using the Arrow keys

4. When you finally choose a color, press Enter key to save changes.

Contrary to popular opinion, you can also use the G shift feature on your keyboard. This feature allows you to customize your keyboard in such a way that it performs commands primarily carried out with your mouse.

First, your keyboard must be compatible with the Logitech G shift software. If it is, then you can configure it in a way that you can move the cursor around your desktop’s display without pressing any keys. Every time the G shift feature is enabled, a small icon will appear on the left side of your screen’s display.

Also, it’s imperative to note that while you can use the arrow keys to move the cursor in different directions, you need to press the spacebar to select something on the screen and ESC to exit the G shift mode.

All you need to do is set it up; here is a short tutorial:

4. Drag and drop the G shift element from the left navigation menu and drop it on the keyboard key that you want to act as your G shift modifier

Unfortunately, Logitech gaming software designers are yet to incorporate a reset feature. Considering one way to utilize the features of a Logitech mouse fully is by constantly remixing your key configurations; the fact that you don’t have a reset button can be inconvenient.

However, there is one way around it. You can opt to uninstall the Logitech gaming software and install it afresh. You will lose all previous settings and have a clean slate to work with.

To uninstall the feature in question, follow the steps below:

5. On your preferred browser, search for the official Logitech site

7. Download the software and when it’s done, allow it to install

Many gamers think the G shift feature is hard to understand or incorporate. While that’s not entirely false, it will do you good to persevere through learning how it works, especially if you are planning to join the professional gamer community.

Hopefully, this article does the job and teaches you all you need to know to get started on your G shift journey.

No. You will only be able to access the G shift feature if the mouse in question is compatible with the Logitech gaming software, and not all the Logitech mice in the market have the feature in question.

Yes, you can. The color-changing feature is independent of other G shift functions and can be easily changed via the Logitech hub gaming software.

It’s known for designing different gaming paraphernalia fitted with unique yet user-friendly Logitech gaming hub software.

The Logitech G shift mouse already comes equipped with default mouse settings. Therefore, you can take your time to learn how to design macro configurations using the default settings.

What Is Digital Rupee? Everything Explained About India’s Digital Currency (Cbdc)

In the Union Budget 2023 speech, Nirmala Sitharaman, the Finance Minister of India, announced a digital currency called ‘Digital Rupee’, which will be issued by the RBI (Reserve Bank of India) soon. The announcement came in the backdrop of private cryptocurrencies getting banned in India. While private cryptocurrencies didn’t get a blanket ban, the government stated it would levy a 30% tax on income generated from crypto trading and virtual digital assets like NFTs. It seems like the Indian government wants people to use the homegrown Digital Rupee instead. But ever since the Union Budget announcement, many of you might be wondering – what is also Digital Rupee, and is it a cryptocurrency like Bitcoin and Ethereum? To answer all your questions, we have come up with an explainer on what is Digital Rupee, CBDC, and more. So without wasting any time, let’s jump right in.

Everything You Need to Know About Digital Rupee (2024)

In this explainer, we have discussed what is Digital Rupee, CBDC, how it is different from other cryptocurrencies, and more. You can use the table below to get answers to your queries at your convenience.

What is CBDC (Central Bank Digital Currencies)?

Before we understand Digital Rupee, we must know what CBDC is. CBDC stands for Central Bank Digital Currencies, and the term is being used all over the world. It’s essentially a currency in electronic form, issued by the Central bank of the country. For example – RBI is the Central bank of India, so RBI has the authority to issue a digital currency that is similar to fiat currency (or paper money) already in circulation.

It’s also important that we understand the concept of fiat currency before moving forward. Fiat currency is a sovereign currency, meaning the country’s Central bank issues it, which, as a result, brings inherent trust to the currency. It’s not issued against commodities like gold or silver, but the Central bank declares it as a legal tender by the force of law. To sum up, the digital currency (Digital Rupee, as it may be called) will appear as a liability on RBI’s balance sheet. Hence, it will be a legal tender in India.

What is Digital Rupee?

Now talking about Digital Rupee, it’s an Indian CBDC that the RBI will launch sometime in 2023-23. It’s basically a digital token of India’s official currency and the RBI will issue and manage this digital currency. In the Union Budget 2023 interview, the Finance Minister stated that Digital Rupee will use Blockchain and other technologies to develop India’s digital currency.

Now, how the RBI is going to implement Digital Rupee and what sort of cryptography it’s going to use is not known right now. We also don’t know if Digital Rupee will be interoperable with other cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin, Ethereum, etc. That said, we do know that, unlike cryptocurrencies, Digital Rupee will be a centralized digital currency, although it will use Blockchain technology to maintain a secure ledger.

When Will RBI Release Digital Rupee in India?

According to the Union Budget announcement, the Indian government has set the Digital Rupee release date somewhere between 2023 and 2023. The RBI had been mulling the launch of its digital currency since 2023, but now we have a solid timeline. Expect the upcoming Blockchain-based Digital Rupee to go live this year or beginning next year.

How is Digital Rupee Different from Other Cryptocurrencies?

First of all, the foundational difference between Digital Rupee and other cryptocurrencies is that India’s Digital Rupee is centralized and can be regulated by RBI. Whereas popular cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin and Ethereum use a decentralized model, which means no single entity has complete control.

Another difference is that Digital Rupee can establish the trail of money and can find the information behind a transaction (who paid and received the money), bringing much-needed transparency to the monetary system. Whereas cryptocurrencies offer anonymity with their long strings of encrypted numbers and letters. Anonymity is something that governments don’t like, and this is where Digital Rupee fills the shoe. As for how efficient India’s Digital Rupee will be in terms of energy consumption against popular cryptocurrencies, we have no information in this regard yet.

How is Digital Rupee Different From Digital Cash (UPI, Net Banking, etc.)?

The difference between Digital Rupee and Digital Cash is a bit technical, and it changes things more on the backend rather than for the people transacting using Digital Rupee. In a recent speech, T Rabi Sankar, the Deputy Governor of RBI, highlighted the difference between Digital Rupee and UPI as follows:

Moreover, he further added, “It is conceivable for an Indian importer to pay its American exporter on a real-time basis in digital Dollars, without the need of an intermediary. This transaction would be final, as if cash dollars are handed over, and would not even require that the US Federal Reserve system is open for settlement. Time zone difference would no longer matter in currency settlements – there would be no ‘Herstatt’ risk.”

Why Is the Indian Government Developing Its Own Digital Rupee?

The need to build Digital Rupee or a govt-backed Digital Currency is partly because governments all over the world are afraid of new forms of digital currencies (like cryptocurrency) that they can’t regulate or find the trail of money. Governments are concerned that people can use cryptocurrency to park money for illicit/ terrorist activities or evade taxes on large sums of black money.

In addition, when so much money (cryptocurrency has a market cap of about $2 trillion) is outside the purview of the country’s monetary system, the government would not be in a good position to make correct monetary policies. And since cryptocurrency has become a thing by now, and it is here to stay, the governments can’t really ban it. More so when it’s being touted as the next big thing and no country would like to stall innovation or want to be seen as one.

So, to provide a legitimate alternative, the Indian government is basically launching its own digital currency with the backing of the central bank (RBI), hence bringing trust to the whole digital currency ecosystem.

And as we have learned above, digital currency built on Blockchain can be a powerful and effective way to run a country’s monetary system. Unlike paper money, it would be next to impossible to duplicate or counterfeit Digital Rupee, which is also a big problem with paper money. Also, RBI can manage the currency efficiently and more cheaply.

What Are the Benefits of Digital Rupee?

Legitimacy and Trust over Cryptocurrencies

The RBI Deputy Governor went as far as to say that “If these VCs (private cryptocurrencies) gain recognition, national currencies with limited convertibility are likely to come under threat“. So to be on the safe side, you should use Digital Rupee in India as a digital currency.

Seamless and Efficient Transactions

Apart from that, talking about the benefit to users, the transactions using Digital Rupee will be far more seamless and efficient than digital cash. Moreover, it will significantly reduce the time and resources required for the settlement between various banks and payment gateways to process a transaction.

We are not sure if Digital Rupee will be issued directly by the RBI or banks, but it is a space we are currently watching very keenly. As we get more details on this, we will update this explainer with new information. Finally, the Finance Minister states that it will also boost the digital economy and drive financial inclusion to the remotest part of India.

Are There Countries Developing Their Own Digital Currency?

India has been mulling about its digital currency since 2023, but we now have a concrete announcement and a timeline for its release. By now, some countries have already piloted their digital currency program. For example – China has initiated its Digital Yuan project, and Russia has made plans for its CryptoRuble currency.

Digital Rupee: Frequently Asked Questions How does Digital Rupee Work?

So far, the Indian government or RBI has not put a consultation paper in public, so we don’t know the nitty-gritty of how Digital Rupee will work. That said, we know that Digital Rupee will be based on Blockchain and other technologies to enable a secure and incorruptible ledger. Note that it will be a centralized currency, unlike private cryptocurrencies.

What are the risks associated with CBDCs like Digital Rupee?

From what we know so far, CBDCs like Digital Rupee may render traditional banks redundant if the RBI chooses to issue Digital Currency by itself. People will no longer put their money in banks, and that will reduce deposits in banks, making it harder for banks to lend money to businesses which will hinder economic growth. But at this point, we don’t have much information, and we have to wait for the fine print. Apart from that, cyber-attacks are one of the biggest risks with electronic fiat, be it a digital currency or digital cash.

Will I have to Pay 30% Crypto Tax on Digital Rupee in India?

No, 30% crypto tax will not apply to Digital Rupee in India. The 30% tax is only applicable to private cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin, Ethereum, etc.

Will Digital Rupee be safe to use in India?

As Digital Rupee will be issued by RBI, the sovereign bank to issue a legal tender in India, it’s completely safe to use. You can trust the central bank that your money is not going anywhere. But we need to see how RBI implements its digital currency in terms of security.

Is India going to ban private cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin, Ethereum, etc.?

So, it’s possible that it will become an undesirable way to invest and transact in the future. For your information, India currently holds over Rs. 6 lakh crore in crypto assets, so a ban is highly unlikely. Read about whether it is legal to buy and sell Bitcoin or other cryptocurrencies in India or not via the linked article.

Does India’s Digital Rupee Have a Promise?

So that was all about the Digital Rupee and what RBI’s upcoming CBDC entails. In my opinion, India is currently in a wait-and-watch mode where it does not want to outrightly ban new technologies, but at the same time, want to see what kind of future the technology promises. If you want to know if the government made the right decision by announcing the Digital Rupee? Well, this is a step in the right direction, and the government has done well to announce its own digital currency.

Lg G Flex 2 Review

Though the camera experience has gotten a bit of an update, in mostly speed, quality seems to be on par with other high-end competitors.

The app is quite simplistic, taking on a minimal interface that requires you to only tap the point of focus and once focused, you get your shot. This is due to the laser-guided autofocus that makes this one of the fastest cameras to use in the market today. Unless you have a subject running around in the frame, you’ll get your picture in seconds with little issue. Other modes include a burst mode that is triggered by holding the shutter down, panorama, a dual shooting mode that uses both cameras in the same shot, and HDR, that does enhance backlit subjects and adds a little bit of color to photos.

The biggest update to the camera experience centers around the self-portrait taker, who will be able to use the 2.1 megapixel front facing camera to quickly and easily review the shot by moving the phone downward in a natural curve. The picture will automatically appear when the phone detects this movement, making self portrait shots pretty easy to check out immediately, and delete if necessary.

Picture quality, though, is pretty uneven, and quite dependent on the lighting in one’s scene. In the camera shootout, I found that while there were good shots captured in broad daylight, going indoors already showed a big change in the detail capture and color saturation, with subjects that are supposed to have very vivid colors getting washed out. As the scene loses lighting, the pictures get noisier, making this a less than ideal companion to have in lower light, or even in indoor situations like at parties. Despite OIS+ helping with the general jittery movements in photo and video, it and the laser guided autofocus are about all that differentiates this camera from others, considering its otherwise mostly standard quality.

As mentioned before, it’s the software on this phone that seems to result in the performance issues with the G Flex 2.  Even though it has been updated to Lollipop, it doesn’t seem as though the G UI has really been optimized to its fullest potential on the Snapdragon 810.

That said, there have been a few changes to the way it works, because of Lollipop. The recent apps screen has been changed to a rolodex Lollipop style, and the notification dropdown now uses cards. But seeing the original style in the quick settings atop the notifications already alludes to the fact that the G UI is mostly still the same, inside and out.

The app drawer has the same style, now very cluttered by the sheer amount of extra applications that were pre-installed on this version of my phone. The settings area is tabbed, and it houses the many different options that you can turn on to tweak the experience, when it comes to one handed usage, some gestures, and a section to mess with the Knock Code. Speaking of the Knock Code, it is still a pretty nice way of unlocking the phone from the prone position. The main enhancement here is the addition of quick peek, which can be activated on a turned off screen by dragging one’s finger down the screen to see the time and the notification bar.

There are certainly some useful features here, but what is particularly disappointing is that without many changes to how the interface looks, we also didn’t get many changes in the optimization. As it stands, this version of the G UI simply isn’t the best showcase for what was supposed to be a super-powered processing package, and that is probably the biggest let down.

Google Answers G+ Privacy Questions, Declines Others

Google Answers G+ Privacy Questions, Declines Others

Dan Gillmore, writer, teacher, and Google+ member has been in communication with Google over the past few weeks, asking questions about security and safety of information as it pertains to Google+. As he says in his own words, “I find Google’s responses (and non-responses) disappointing.” As you’ll see below, Google answered some key questions and uncovered a few rocks we’re sure you’ll be interested in seeing under. There’s also a list of questions they did not reply to, and assuming Gillmore actually DID send these questions in and Google DID decline to answer, the implications are immense.

One of Gillmore’s first questions is about chat and video chat, and how much Google – or anyone else not in the chat – is able to see. Google replied that the only piece of information or media collected from Hangouts (video chat) were the names of the participants, and then only so that participants could easily add these new friends to their Circles should they so wish. This, and “other usage stats” for debugging and improving the service. In the case of Chat, transcripts, says Google, are stored in your account so that YOU can search across them. By default your chat transcripts are stored, and if you do not want them stored at all, you can choose to chat “off the record.”

Gillmore then submits a series of questions, each of them one after the other as follows:

Follow-up: To be clear, then: Google can record video, even though by default it does not. Correct? If a user is “off the record” can Google record it anyway?

Has Google been asked to make this service comply with CALEA (federal law requiring certain kinds of communications to be easily “wiretapped”)?

Is G+ compliant with CALEA, by creating backdoor for law enforcement to see/hear/record communications?

Does Google plan to make G+ compliant with CALEA?

Is there a web page at Google that addresses all of this?

Google replies that of course there is a website, right over at [PRIVACY POLICY PAGE] for all to see. Google then goes on to say that like all law-abiding companies, they “comply with applicable laws and valid legal process, such as court orders and subpoenas.” They go on to speak about data requests and how they notify affected users about requests for user data that may effect them. They go on to note the following about their 2006 court case against a Department of Justice Subpoena:

[The subpoena was for] millions of search queries on the grounds that it invaded our users’ privacy. The judge ultimately ruled in Google’s favor, establishing an important precedent for user privacy. And because we believe in transparency, in 2009 we launched our Transparency Report, which shows the number and types of requests we get for user data from different governments.

Gillmore follows up with a question on the matter which Google does not reply to:

Follow-up: To clarify: So Google can and will enable a government to tap/record conversations and review stored ones if a government (US or otherwise) requires this in a “valid legal process” — and the company cannot assure people that their communications are not being intercepted or otherwise reviewed. Correct?

Finally, Gillmore ends his conversation with Google with two questions on Google+ posts, asking if there’s a retention policy/privacy plan, asking also if users will be able to define a purge/preserve policy for their own posts. Google replies that Google+ posts will be retained indefinitely unless a user decides to delete them. Google notes that when a user deletes data, they remove it from their systems, but that due to “various regulations and the complexity of [their] infrastructure,” the total removal of said data may take some time. Google notes furthermore that in rare cases, they couple be “required by to retain data that a user has deleted.”

We must assume that there’s a missing word between “required by” and “to”, more than likely it being “law.” When pushed to answer what “various regulations” and “rare cases” were, Google again said the same thing in so many words, this final reply more than likely coming straight from their legal department:

We believe strongly that users’ data belongs to users and not Google, so when you delete your data, we remove it from our systems. Note that due to various regulations and the complexity of our infrastructure, the complete removal of data may take some time, and in rare cases, we may be required by to retain data that a user has deleted. We also believe that people should be able to control the data they store in any of our products, so our Data Liberation Front has created a tool called Google Takeout, to easily download a copy of your data from Google+.
