9 Best Pokemon Go Tips And Tricks

Pokemon Go is a unique game and became widely popular upon its release. Every day new users are starting their own Pokemon journeys.

Pokemon Go is a simple concept, but there are many details the average player may not know. In this article, you’ll find some of the essential Pokemon Go tips and tricks you can use to get the most out of your playtime.

Table of Contents

1. Trade Pokemon for Candies

As you move further along in Pokemon Go, you’re bound to pick up quite a few Pokemon you don’t need. Instead of just letting them take up space, you can transfer these Pokemon to the professor and get some Candies in return.

Candies are important and extremely beneficial in Pokemon Go, as you need them to power those Pokemon you are planning to use.

2. Focus on XP Before You Power Up Pokemon

It will take a lot more Candies to power up your Pokemon if you have low XP, and therefore may be prudent to wait until you have more XP.

Some quick ways to initially gain a lot of XP are to catch Pokemon (even better if you can nail them with an Excellent throw), interact with new Pokestops and add friends and send them gifts.  Adding friends is especially useful because you can get a lot of XP whenever you move up in friend levels with someone. When you become Best Friends, you get a Lucky Egg, which, when used, can double any XP you get.

3. Pokestops

Another important feature in Pokemon Go is the Pokestops, which are real landmarks around the area you live in real life. At these stops, you can spin their sign to get rewards. Once you spin the sign, you can skip the mini-game that ensues by exiting, and you’ll receive all your rewards.

You can also claim rewards from Pokestops multiple times; you’ll just need to wait a few minutes between each attempt.

4. Consider What Gyms to Take Over

When you take over Pokemon Gyms in a game, you’ll choose a Pokemon to defend it. Every time players try to take over the Gym, and your Pokemon defeats them, you’ll get some Coins in return.

However, you may want to be careful about which Gyms you take over and their location. For example, if you try to take over a popular Gym that often gets taken over, you won’t get much in return, especially if you use a strong Pokemon to defend it who gets defeated quickly. Conversely, a Gym that isn’t visited much probably won’t give you many Coins either, although you likely can defend it longer.

Instead, aim for Gyms that get average traffic and defend them with a strong Pokemon. This way, even if a good number of people attempt to take it over, you’ll be able to keep it for a while.

5. Pokemon Types

As in the actual Pokemon games, Pokemon types play a role in Go, too. However, the type matchups are slightly different. Below is a list of types and what they’re strong against:

Water: Fire, Rock, Ground

Fire: Grass, Ice, Bug, Steel

Grass: Rock, Water, Ground

Ghost: Psychic

Steel: Ice, Fairy, Rock

Fighting: Rock, Steel, Ice, Dark, Normal

Bug: Grass, Dark, Psychic

Electric: Flying, Water

Dark: Psychic, Ghost

Fairy: Dark, Fighting, Dragon

Flying: Fighting, Grass, Bug

Ground: Electric, Fire, Poison, Steel, Rock

Ice: Flying, Ground, Grass, Dragon

Poison: Grass, Fairy

Psychic: Fighting, Poison

Rock: Fire, Bug, Ice, Flying

Normal: None

Dragon: Dragon

6. Remote Raids

When COVID-19 took hold in 2023, Pokemon Go announced Remote Raids, which allow you to join a Raid without being in the area. During a Raid, you defeat a boss Pokemon with other players. You typically need a Raid Pass to do so.

By completing Remote Raids, you can get some rare Pokemon without going to the physical location where the Raids may be taking place.

7. Find Nearby Pokemon

You can use the Pokemon Locator feature to get an augmented view of the location you’re at and the Pokemon in that area. You can then focus on finding the Pokemon that you want.

8.Hatch Eggs In Vehicles

When you’re hatching eggs, the app only takes the distance traveled into account and ignores whether you’ve walked or not. As a result, hatching eggs is a lot easier while you’re in a car, a bus, a bike, or a run.

9. Evolve Eevee By Naming Them

If you have an Eevee, there are several different evolutions the Pokemon can take. The easiest way to evolve an Eevee into your desired evolution in Pokemon Go is by naming them before they evolve. Below is a list of the evolutions and what you need to name your Eevee to get them:

Umbreon: “Tamao”

Sylveon: “Kira”

Glaceon: “Rea”

Espeon: “Sakura”

Leafeon: “Linnea”

Flareon: “Pyro”

Vaporeon: “Rainer”

Jolteon: “Sparky”

Supercharge Your Phone: 40 Tips And Tricks

Looking for an easy out from a lousy date? Feeling like a rat in a phone-tree maze? Wishing that someone could transcribe your voicemail messages and e-mail them to you? With this assortment of phone tips, tricks, and services, you’ll be able to navigate your phone with MacGyver-like ingenuity.

13 Sites and Services to Supercharge Any Phone

Here’s how to bypass automated menus, transcribe voicemail, make free calls, and more.

Skip the Menu

At best, automated menus are necessary evils of modern life; at worst, they’re a pain in the neck. Press 1 for English, 2 for billing, 3 if you hate phone-tree menus.

Fonolo is free to use, but you have to sign up as a member to get access to Fonolo’s complete directory map for each company. iPhone owners can also use Fonolo’s iPhone app.

Get a Personal Assistant

Jott Assistant is a voice-to-text service that lets you call one toll-free number and update everything on your calendar, social network page, blog, or to-do list. Jott works with more than 50 Web services and desktop productivity applications, including Blogger, Facebook, Google Calendar, Outlook, Remember the Milk, Twitter, and WordPress.

You can use Jott to have your RSS newsfeeds read to you; the service also lets you send out e-mail or text messages to distribution groups. Just call 866/JOTT123, and record your message, calendar appointment, or to-do list–Jott Assistant takes care of the rest.

Go Directly to Voicemail

Too much of a coward to tell someone unpleasant news in person? Tell them via voicemail. That’s the idea behind Slydial. This free service connects directly to your contact’s mobile voicemail, freeing you from the worry of having to speak to the person.

Get Off the Phone

Ever wished you could end a boring phone conversation, but not sure how to do it gracefully? If you’re in front of a computer while you’re on the phone, just visit chúng tôi This Website allows you to play a wide variety of sound files via your Web browser window.

It offers basic stuff like a doorbell, a crying baby, and a second phone line ringing. But it also has some wacky choices, such as the sound of a car accident, sneezing fits, and visits from outer space.

Spoof Your Caller ID

Is someone screening their calls via Caller ID and avoiding you? With a Caller ID spoofing service, you can broadcast another phone number in order to trick the person on the receiving end.

Turning things around, the company behind SpoofCard also has a service called TrapCall that claims to unmask blocked and restricted numbers.

A word of warning about Caller ID spoofing: The U.S. House of Representatives just approved a bill that makes it illegal “to cause any caller ID service to transmit misleading or inaccurate caller ID information, with the intent to defraud or deceive.” The bill is working its way through the Senate, but will likely be signed into law relatively soon. Though spoofing itself won’t be illegal, using it with ill intent and to harass will be.

Receive Voicemail Transcriptions

Why is it that whenever you desperately need to hear from someone, they call while you’re indisposed in a meeting? For those must-get phone calls, you have a couple of options aside from disrupting the meeting with your Michael Jackson “Beat It” ringtone and announcing “I have to take this.”

To have messages transcribed and sent, you’ll need a Google Voice account; if you don’t have one, you can request an invitation via the service’s Website. A quicker way to get an account is to have an existing Google Voice user invite you–so ask around.

Afterward, be sure to give your Google Voice phone number to the person who will call you, or just forward your calls to your Google Voice account.

A cheaper alternative to buying a ringtone of someone clearing their throat is to record your own ringtone. Most basic-phone users should be able to do this by creating a voice memo, saving it in the recordings folder, and then assigning that recording as the ringtone. Android users can download the Ringdroid application, and iPhone users can make their own as well (see “Don’t Pay for Ringtones” in “14 Ways to Supercharge Your Smartphone”).

Linux Admins Tips And Tricks: Discover, Map And Store

At the cost of great exertion and mental prowess, I have collected just for you an astounding assortment of useful commands and tools for performing amazing feats like network host discovery and mapping your network, mapping IP addresses to their physical locations, spying on everyone who is logged into a computer and even better, faster, securer remote file access.

Even small networks can pick up some surprise guests that slip in when you’re not looking. Or maybe, as your network has grown, you haven’t been very diligent about keeping track of IP addresses, so you want to make a list. You don’t have to run around to every network host, but can perform host discovery from the comfort of your network administrator lair. There are a lot of ways to do this. One way is to use nmap. This example queries DNS for IP addresses and hostnames:

Host chúng tôi ( not scanned Host chúng tôi ( not scanned Host chúng tôi ( not scanned Nmap finished: 256 IP addresses (0 hosts up) scanned in 8.248 seconds

This command pings the network to see who is up, and reports IP addresses, hostnames, and MAC addresses and names:

# nmap -sP 192.168.1.* Host chúng tôi ( appears to be up. MAC Address: 00:00:24:C1:1D:F0 (Connect AS) Host chúng tôi ( appears to be up. MAC Address: 00:0D:B9:05:25:B4 (PC Engines GmbH) Nmap finished: 256 IP addresses (5 hosts up) scanned in 4.657 seconds

Plain old nmap with no options finks off hosts that are up and what services are running:

# nmap 192.168.1.* Interesting ports on chúng tôi ( Not shown: 1677 closed ports PORTSTATE SERVICE 22/tcp open ssh 631/tcp open ipp MAC Address: 00:0D:B9:05:25:B4 (PC Engines GmbH)

Network Mapping With Cheops-ng

Cheops-ng is a GTK-based front end to nmap that draws nice diagrams of your network. You have to run it as root– using sudo doesn’t work because it doesn’t know how to handle the sudo password. Start it up like this:

# cheops-agent & # cheops-ng

Enter in the dialog box. First it runs an “enqueueing scan” at startup to discover your network hosts, then runs a detailed scan on each host in turn. This can take awhile– this is the command that it runs on each host:

nmap -oX – -n -sT -T Normal -O -sR -I -F -P0 [IP address]

When it is finished it stops itself, leaving behind a nice map of your network. This won’t be entirely accurate if you have dumb switches– it won’t see them because they are not ping-able, so it will look like the machine you are running the scan from is a switch.

The display is similar to the finger command, except it continually updates like the top command. There are no command options, just toggle keys to use while it’s running. You can see the process trees for each user, what process they used to log in, and even kill processes and users.

Finding IP Addresses on a Map

Go to chúng tôi The first thing you see will be your own location on a map, complete with latitude, longitude, name of your service provider, and a pin stuck right through your house. Once the shock of being discovered has passed, use this to spy on other people.

Easy Secure Remote File Editing With sshfs

If your system is already set up with FUSE and sshfs, and you have a local directory for the mountpoint, this command will do the job:

carla@xena:~$ sshfs stinkpad: temp/ carla@stinkpad's password: carla@xena:~$

Open your favorite file manager to the mountpoint, and there are your remote files. If it doesn’t work, follow these steps:

Install sshfs and fuse-utils

Create a mountpoint that you have permission to access. FUSE operates in userspace, so a subdirectory in your home directory works fine

Create the fuse group and add yourself to it

Log completely out, then log back in again

Load the fuse kernel module (modprobe fuse)

Now run the sshfs command again. If it doesn’t work again, take your error to message to Google, and take a look at the links in Resources. Most modern distributions have FUSE support in the kernel, so all you need to do is load the module. Look for CONFIG_FUSE_FS=m in your /boot/config-[version] file.

Unmount it like this:

carla@xena:~$ fusermount -u temp/sshfs

Users who are new to sshfs always ask these questions:

Why not just run X over SSH?

Why not just use NFS?

The answer is do what you want, no one cares. Some things to consider: It’s faster and more secure than running X over SSH, it’s a heck of a lot easier to set up than NFS, and a zillion times more secure.

Phoning Home is an open-world exploration and survival game set on a strange, alien planet. The surprising part is that the main character isn’t a fierce warrior who fights for the survival of this tribe, but two cute little robots named ION and ANI.

If you’ve already bought Phoning Home or are planning to, check out the tips and tricks listed below for better gameplay.

Phoning Home guide

Use your compass to find resources that you already scanned at least once. Before resources appear on your compass, you will have to find them. Watch for anything that looks out of the ordinary.

Gameplay starts out slow for you to learn all the basic mechanics and to introduce characters, but don’t be fooled. There might be a dangerous surprise behind the next corner already. So, stack up on power-ups like Hull Repairs, Power Cells and Fuel.

If storage for one resource is full and you cannot collect anymore, try to craft some power-ups or tools with it to not leave valuable resources behind.

Be careful when getting close to lava or other sources of heat.

After you met another small robot named ANI, take care of her. She will be helpful, a little bit annoying and sometimes hilarious, but most importantly you cannot win the game if you leave her behind.

In cases of bad weather, ANI is very vulnerable. Find shelter for her and disable her auto-follow for a while. You can roam around and look for new paths while the storms rage. ANI really hates everything but sunshine, so make sure she always has enough coating. When her UI interface symbol turns red, she has run out of coating.

ANI has her own opinion. Take everything she says with a grain of salt. She is NOT your tutorial guide.

When you think you’re stuck, chances are you’re not. Some of the puzzles are rather tricky, especially in the second half of the game. Check the environment and what tools you have unlocked (or can unlock).

Combine your tools and features. Maybe the Attractor PLUS the Teleporter might offer a way. There are times when you don’t need the Teleporter for a long time, and then you will run into situations where you constantly need it to traverse the landscape or help ANI around.

ANI will follow you through the portals you create with the Teleporter or world portals that you enter. That is, if she can reach them.

You can toggle ANI’s auto-follow mode (F) and her auto-attack mode (C). This may be necessary in certain situations to survive. ANI has her own mind and is sometimes very emotional.

Save resources in the beginning. You will need them later in the game. In fact, your mission will depend on your ability to use your thruster and other tools.

You can, but you don’t have to, fight all hostiles. It’s often the better alternative to avoid confrontation.
