Windows Hello is one of the sign-in options available on Windows 11 and Windows 10 systems. It is a more secure way for users to access their Windows 11/10 devices via a PIN, Fingerprint Recognition, and Facial Recognition. You can easily set up and remove Windows Hello PIN and other sign-in options from Settings. Some users have reported that they were unable to remove Windows Hello PIN from Settings because the Windows Hello PIN Remove button was greyed out. If you experience the same issue on your device, this post may help you fix it.

Windows Hello PIN Remove button is greyed out

Here, we will explain the following two solutions to fix this issue:

Disabling the “Only allow Windows Hello sign-in” option.

Using the Forgot PIN option.

Below, we have described these methods in detail.

1] Disabling the “Only allow Windows Hello sign-in” option

If the Windows Hello PIN Remove button is greyed out on your system, the first thing that you can do is, disable the “only allow Windows Hello sign-in” option from Settings. After setting up a Windows Hello PIN, you cannot remove it until this option is enabled.

The following steps are for Windows 11 users:

Launch the Settings app by pressing Win + I keys.

Select Accounts from the left side.

Now, check if the button next to the “For improved security, only allow Windows Hello sign-in for Microsoft accounts on this device (Recommended)” option is on or off. You will find this option in the Additional Settings.

If the button is turned on, turn it off.

This will enable the Windows Hello PIN Remove button. Now, you can easily delete the Windows Hello PIN.

Windows 10 users have to go through the following steps:

Select Sign-in options from the left pane.

On the Sign-in options page, turn off the button that says “For improved security, only allow Windows Hello sign-in for Microsoft accounts on this device (Recommended).”

This will enable the greyed-out Windows Hello PIN Remove button.

2] Using the Forgot PIN option

Some users have reported that they did not find the “only allow Windows Hello sign-in” option in Windows 11/10 Settings. If this is the case with you, you can delete the Windows Hello key from your computer by this method. Before you proceed, we recommend you add another sign-in option to your computer, like a password. This will help you log into Windows 11/10 without creating a new Windows Hello PIN.

Open the Sign-in options page on your Windows 11/10 system by following the steps described above. After that, follow the instructions listed below:

Now, Windows will ask you to confirm your identity by entering your Microsoft account password. After entering the password, you will be prompted to set up a new PIN.

When you start your computer the next time after deleting the Windows Hello PIN, you may see the following message on the login screen:

How do I remove Windows Hello PIN? How do I disable the Hello PIN in Windows 11/10?

To disable the Windows Hello PIN on a Windows 11/10 system, you have to remove it from Settings. If you want to permanently disable the Windows Hello PIN, you have to use Windows Registry Editor or Local Group Policy Editor.

Hope this post helped you fix the issue.

How To Fix Recording And Clipping Greyed Out In Game Bar On Windows 11.

If you are trying to use the Recording and Clipping options in Game Bar on Windows 11 but can’t because both options are greyed out. This article will show you several different troubleshooting steps you can take to get recording and clipping working in Game Bar once again.

Related: Fix any problem you are currently having with Game Pass.

The Game Bar on Windows 10 and 11 is a cool gaming feature that allows you to take screenshots, record gameplay and capture video clips during games. It’s easy to use and comes preinstalled on Windows 10 & 11. While Game Bar works really well and is pretty reliable, there have been some cases recently where people have been having issues with the Clipping and Recording options being greyed out.

The good news is that there are quite a few different troubleshooting steps you can take to resolve this issue and get the Game Bar working properly on Windows again. This will allow you to use the clipping and recording options without them being greyed out anymore.

How do you fix recording and clipping greyed out in Game Bar on Windows 11?

One of the quickest and easiest ways to attempt to solve this problem is to repair or reset the Game Bar app on your computer. However, it is also best to do the same for a few other apps that are also connected to each other.

If repairing and resetting the Xbox Game Bar app didn’t solve the problem repeat the process for the Xbox app, Microsoft Store, and Gaming Services. These are all interconnected.

Uninstall and Reinstall the Gaming Services app/process.

If nothing so far has worked for you, you are going to have to uninstall and reinstall the Gaming Services app.

To start, open PowerShell as Administrator (search it from the start menu).

When the window appears copy and paste the following command:

Followed by this command next:

start ms-windows-store://pdp/?productid=9MWPM2CQNLHN

If the command runs without any errors you can try to download some games. If you get an error message you’ll need to do the following.

Open the Registry Editor by searching Regedit from the Start menu. When it opens, go to the following location:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESYSTEMCurrentControlSetServices

And delete the following two folders (keys): GamingServices and GamingServicesNet. Once you have deleted them, Restart your computer.

Uninstall the last Windows 11 update installed on your computer to fix update error 0x80070008.

This option may not be available for you but If you still have the option to uninstall the latest Windows 11 update that was installed on your computer do that. If you aren’t sure how to check out the article linked below. Sadly you may not be able to use this step but you should check just in case as it is a good option.

How To Remove Recommended Section In Windows 11 Start Menu

Microsoft announced Windows 11 last year in June. Almost four months after the announcement, Windows 11 was finally released in October 2023. Windows 11 is a nice upgrade over Windows 10 and packs some fascinating features such as a new centered Start Menu, Taskbar, refreshed app icons, and support for Android apps. Among all these features, the new Start Menu received everyone’s attention. Microsoft has completely redesigned the start menu. It features a search bar on top followed by a Pinned section that shows pinned apps with a button to access All apps.

Below the Pinned section is an all-new Recommended section showing all the recently added and opened apps as well as recently opened files. It also has a More button to offer more Recommended apps and files. The recommended section will come in handy to access the recently opened apps and files, but the feature is not for everyone. Many Windows 11 users didn’t like it as the Recommended section takes almost half the space of the Start Menu. If you are one of the users and want to remove the Recommended section on your Windows 11 PC, you are in the right place.

Remove Recommended Section in Windows 11 Start Menu

I know most of you want to remove the recommended section from the Windows 11 start menu altogether. But let me clarify before providing the steps that you can’t completely remove the recommendation section as of now. However, you can remove individual recommended items or the complete recommended section content. Microsoft has added the option in the settings app to turn off the recommendations. Follow the below methods to hide recommended section content from the Windows 11 start menu.

Remove Recommended items Individually.

Everyone has a different problem with the recommended section—some users like it as it helps open the recently added or opened apps. The only issue with it is that they don’t want individual apps or files to appear in the recommended section. Suppose you opened a private file in File Explorer and don’t want anyone to access it. In that situation, you would like that specific file to not appear in the recommended section while keeping other apps and files there. You can remove recommended items individually; below are its steps.

Step 1: Tap on the new Windows 11 logo in the Taskbar to open the Start menu on your Windows 11 PC. Alternatively, You can also press the Windows key on your keyboard to open the Start menu.

Step 3: A shortcut menu will appear on the screen from the given options; tap on Remove from list.

Once you tap on Remove from the list for an individual app or file, the selected item will no longer appear in the Recommended section. Similarly, you can remove a few more items if needed.

Remove Recommended Section Content

The above method works well to remove an individual item from the recommended section. But what if you want to remove the entire recommended section content. Microsoft has added the options in the Settings app, and below are the steps to remove the recommended section content from the Start Menu.

Step 1: Open Settings on your Windows 11 PC. You can type Windows + I keyboard shortcut to open the Settings app.

Step 2: In the Windows 11 Settings app, tap on Personalization from the left sidebar.

Step 3: Under the Personalization setting, scroll down to the Start section and tap on it.

Step 4: In the Start section, turn off the “Show Recently opened items in Start, Jump Lists, and File Explorer” option. Turning it off will remove recently opened items from the recommended section.

Step 5: After it, turn off Show recently added apps option. The Show most used apps will be turned off by default. In case it is turned on, turn it off as well.

Once you have turned off all the options in the Start section, open the Start Menu, and you will no longer see any recommendations in the recommended area. However, the recommended section will still occupy the space as earlier.

FAQs

Microsoft has added a new recommended section in Windows 11. It shows all the recently added and opened apps and recently opened files. Many users want to hide recommendations in Windows 11, but it is impossible to remove the recommended action completely; however, one can remove individual recommendations or complete recommended section content.

How do I remove items from the Start menu in Windows 11?

Final Words

Microsoft has completely revamped the Start Menu in Windows 11. It has got an all-new Pinned section and Recommended section. The recommended section shows the recently added and opened apps along with recently opened files. The feature sounds helpful, but many Windows 11 users didn’t like it because it eats almost half of the Start Menu space.

Thankfully it is possible to remove individual items from the recommended section and completely remove the recommended section content. Follow the steps provided in the article and clean the Windows 11 start menu.
